Round four, continued...

Chase pulls the small vial of health elixir from his pack, uncorks it, and swallows it in several restorative gulps.
Chase regains 7 HP!

Morton climbs to his feet, drawing on the seductive, warm, welcoming power of the Fiend to whom he has given so much as he walks to join Ember and Ferranzo by the door; the searing, soothing demonic power flows down his arm and send a concussive blast through the room.
Skeleton 8 takes 4 force damage!
Morton lies down again.

Skeleton 1 pulls, nocks, draws, and looses another arrow at Myrtha in complete silence. The arrow hits the warrior's shield and shatters into pieces.

Chase will hold tight and try to dodge anything that comes at him then next turn will move and attack.
Feb 2, 2026 9:50 pm
Aanbo slides across the hall to engage Skeleton 2. Hopefully his zig-zag approach will make him a difficult target for the undead archers, but the burning cut on his cheek reminds him of their previously-displayed accuracy.

The monk thrusts his quarterstaff for Skeleton 2's skull, idly curious if that affects their bony reflexes like it might do to a living opponent. He tries not to think about the alternative as he sweeps a leg for what's supposed to be a surprise strike to the hips.
OOC:
Movement: 20 feet south to Skeleton 2.
Action: Quarterstaff two-handed vs Skeleton 2
Bonus Action: Unarmed strike vs Skeleton 2

As Morton stands and fires, Eugenios pulls the strings of magic again manipulating it into a glove of ice. As soon as the Warlock flops to the ground he releases the glove again towards the skeleton he had missed previously . . .
OOC:
Aiming for Skeleton 5 again
This time as he launches it instinct tells him it is a hit and he moves back behind the door for protection.

Round four, continued...

As Morton drops to the ground in front of him, Eugenios flicks another necrotic appendage into the room. This time it impacts with the undead target and clings to its ribcage!
Skeleton 5 takes 3 necrotic damage!

Skeleton 5 and Skeleton 6 mechanically pull arrows, nock, draw, and release, launching missiles at Myrtha and Aanbo! Myrtha throws up her shield, trying to protect the monk standing next to her, and knocks the arrow out of the way! But the arrow aimed at her punches through her armor.
Myrtha takes 3 piercing damage!

Grunting and covered in cold sweat, the warrior realized that these might be the last moments of her life. The inordinately accurate skeletal bowmen seemed to always find the right time to shoot, and despite her coat of heavy mail, four arrowheads bit into her flesh already. She envied the berserkers she had heard about, but never fought: she wished she could plunge into a haze of rage that could separate her from the pain. No such luck for Myrtha of Three Elms Crossing. She’d have to bear her pain and keep fighting through it. She attacked the same skeleton Aanbo had struck beforehand.
OOC:
Myrtha attacks skeleton 2 and does 6hp damage. If it falls, she will take her action surge now, so that she can move toward skeleton 4 and attack it as well. This should impose disadvantage if it attacks with the bow… adding the action surge attack if these conditions are met.

Round four, continued...

Myrtha rushes to the south side of the room, and with the flex of her mighty arms plunges her spear into the undead monster there.
Skeleton 2 takes 6 piercing damage!

Just a half-step behind her comes Aanbo, bringing his staff down on its skull.
Skeleton 2 takes 10 bludgeoning damage and is destroyed!

Smoothly, mechanically, skeletons 3 and 4 loose two more arrows. Four aims at the target immediately in front of it - Aanbo - but the other skeleton chooses to target Chase. Both heroes are able to dodge the missiles.

I wish I could do more. Ferranzo steps in the doorway, focuses on Skeleton 3, throws some Vicious Mockery its way, then backs out of the doorway.

https://pics.craiyon.com/2023-10-26/39dd634df3c04b909381a20fe18b9e4a.webp Demonic Morton quickly rises and carefully enters into the room but upon seeing the corpse of sweet Arya he turns away and steps from her and more toward being behind Myrtha. This time he doesn't drop prone as he feels the two people in front of him is cover enough and blasts skeleton 8 again.

As normal his sulfur scent follows him. He seems to gain better control as his eyes lose their redness.
OOC:
Morton moves 15' behind Myrtha and cast cantrip eldritch blast at skeleton 8 with an 18 for 3 force damage. 1 HP, AC 14, Nothing in hands.

Round Five
(this is preceded by round four, followed by round six)
[ +- ] Guardroom details
Chase rushes toward the nearest skeleton, swinging the warlock's greatclub. The balance of the weapon is unfamiliar in his hands, and his swings are too slow to connect.

Morton steps into the room, averting his eyes from the bloody mess that once was Arya Arkon. Stepping into the corner, he directs another fiendish blast at the skeleton furthest away from the heroes.
Skeleton 8 takes 3 force damage!

Unthinking, the magic animating the corpse of Skeleton 8 directs its next arrow at the closest target once again: Chase. Thankfully, this attack also misses.

Focused on the undead beyond Chase, Special Investigator Eugenios forms another hand of doom and sends it flying at the enemy.
Skeleton 5 takes 7 necrotic damage!

Skeleton 5 looses an arrow in Myrtha's direction, but it misses the Maiden of Three Elms completely!

Skeleton 6 tries to perforate Chase again, but when it hits, it doesn't hit hard enough to puncture his magic armor!

Myrtha crosses the room to the closest target, the one that Chase is fighting. Drawing back her spear, she plunges it into the dead body again and again!
Skeleton 3 takes 8 piercing damage!

Aanbo follows close on her heels, striking with his staff! Skeleton 3 turns, dislodging the spear so that it deflects the staff. But this does not stop the monk's punches. He hits it repeatedly, and each blow breaks off more bones, until it falls to pieces.
Skeleton 3 takes 10 bludgeoning damage and is destroyed!

https://i.imgur.com/sG30nkc.png

Skeleton 4 looses another arrow in Chase's direction. This time the arrow does pierce his magic armor.
Chase takes 5 piercing damage!

Ferranzo grins mischievously at Eugenios standing in the light and Ember half in darkness, then pops his head around the corner to find the target of his ridicule again. "Hey weakling! Yes you! Sitting all day on bench." The halfling points and hoots at Skeleton 5. "Not strong enough to stand and be a proper guard, or are you too lazy? Admit it — you’ll be a battered pile of bones any second now!" The magic animating the corpse shreds a little further.
Skeleton 5 takes 2 psychic damage!

Ember takes a deep breath, mustering her courage and as Ferranzo swings himself back out of the doorway, she steps into the light, releasing the next arrow at Skeleton 6. The arrow punches into the skull, which flies a couple of paces off of the body. The arrow embeds itself in the jamb of the door and the skull remains there, skewered on the shaft of the arrow. For a second, the magic animating the corpse tries to bring the separate parts of the body together, but it is too far. The body collapses into a trail of bones leading to the door.
Skeleton 6 takes 12 piercing damage and is destroyed!

OOC:
@Mathfuric @matmaisan @CancerMan would you post turns for Eugenios, Myrtha, and Aanbo now? Or the fighter and monk can wait to see if they need to respond to the attacks of Skeletons 5 & 6 if you wish.
Feb 4, 2026 7:32 pm
Aanbo knows they can succeed. It seems the skeletons are only interested in those in the hallway, so the tactic of the veterans drawing skeletal fire appears to allow the others to safely launch counterattacks. "Keep it up!" he declares.

The monk crosses the hallway again, rushing Skeleton 3 with his quarterstaff thrust forward like a billiards cue. He then angles his end of the staff defensively over his head while sliding forward to strike with a punch for the skeleton's sternum.
OOC:
Same as before. Movement 20' across hallway to Skeleton 3.

With every skeleton that fell, Myrtha’s heart dared to hope a bit more. Aanbo’s words further pushed her into decisive action. She pushed onwards, always in tandem with the dwur monk, her shield always ready to protect him, or Chase, if the ranger came close enough.
OOC:
If I can, I’ll use her previous attack roll and damage for this attack (the action surge attack from the previous round). She is too far to reach a second skeleton this round, so she’ll not use action surge just now.she’ll use all her movement to get to SE of skeleton 3, if possible.
