"You might need us to help." Bear tells Vikram, referring to himself only, while Katya heads off to warn the bartender. He looks around to see if there is anything nearby to use as a weapon as he hadn't brought any to this get together.
Looking over at the hedges he spots a wheelbarrow with some hedge sheers in them. Not the best weapon, but it has better range than a fork so it'll have to do. He heads over to grab them. "If it gets close, stay behind us."
I think it makes sense that I spend a turn or 2 to go and grab an improvised weapon.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make up nearby items like this. If not, I'll retcon it.I think it makes sense that I spend a turn or 2 to go and grab an improvised weapon.

@TheGenerator remember that under SWADE rules you can spend a benny to have a wheel barrow (or a rake, shovel, etc) at hand. You are near/ in a garden so it’s plausible. There’s an also a complete bar if you can think of something handy there (ice pick?, bottle?).
ut I also think you could make the spend to have a (concealed) pistol on you. U Gem gave you guys plentiful gear, which —for a benny—might have included a side weapon for Bear.
There’s a bit of a decision to make here. it’s against the law and hotel rules to carry a sidearm, but maybe it’s needed in this case? The big cat is still three rounds away at this stage.
If you’d rather not make the spend, let’s go with your idea of spending two rounds to grab a useful gardening implement of your choice.

I completely forgot the benny rule that allows you to add something to the scene. I will do that! Maybe it's not as optimal as having a gun, but I like it flavor-wise.2 bennies left.
Thanks for the advice :)

The Burmese barman watches curiously as Vikram deftly assembles his fire bomb. He makes no comment or objection as he is not expected to challenge the guests.
Vikram, a Sikh, knows a fair bit of religious and mythological lore but draws a blank on the mysterious cat.
Bear lays his large hands on a nearby barrow.
Guests continue to file in quietly.
BENNY to Eketerina for managing the crowd
Round 2
The feline continues to approach , still distant but now visible to both Eketerina and Bear. Bear and Vikram are now armed—Vikram with lighter and bomb , Bear with his sturdy barrow.
Guests are still filing inside. A few enter the hotel and move to the windows, curious to see if there is anything approaching. Most proceed to the safety of the hotel interior.
I’ll fast forward to round three, when the creature will be in bombing distance. Any actions in the next couple of rounds? How does Ek arm herself?

Imma make a stealth check to see if Katya was able to sneak her Colt 1911 Defender inedit Benny to reroll...I did not expect a quad raise

Rolls
stealth - (1d4, 1d6)
1d4 : (2) = 2
1d6 : (2) = 2

Katya walks over to Bear, You're probably a better shot than me. As she offers her hidden Colt. It only has 7 shots, and I didn't think to bring my spare mag, so make it count
OOC:
I assume I don't need to make a stealth check for the knife as she would probably wield it pretty openly if it is allowed. If this is not the case, then I can just switch weapons with bear, assuming of course he is fine with itLast edited August 19, 2026 4:28 pm

I can’t see that you’d be carrying a knife openly. In a fancy hotel garden, she might even be wearing quite formal attire? This is the 1940s after all. But we’ll use the raises on the stealth roll to cover the blade as an extra weapon.

OK. Maybe after this scene we ‘ll agree what folks have on them in public situations. You very well might decide to pack some discrete weapons at all times, especially as the risks ramp up!

"You're more than welcome." Vikram quips as Bear comes over to assist. He holds his gaze steady on the beast, watching it move closer.

OOC:
Aw... I was gonna whack a cat with a wheelbarrow. But no way Bear can say no to a gun 😁OOC:
Can I do a support action by shooting the molotov just before it would reach the creature? If so, I'd like to aim and then do that after Vikram throws it.Aug 20, 2026 12:10 pm
OOC:
Ok so we’ll set up the fire bomb combo and move to the last round when the monster is in throw range (also out of cover, within close pistol range, etc.)
OOC:
1. The unnatural appearance of the monster is unnerving. Make a normal SPI roll or be shaken…
2. So it’s now in 5" range, the limit for a fire bomb throw. Vikram can make an athletics TN4 to hit as a splash attack, but a raise will land it squarely on the monster itself.
Let’s make Bear’s roll a support as suggested—every success and raise on shooting adding a +1 to the outcome Vikram’s chuck. However, I think it’s a trick shot, and quite a hard one, so we’ll make the shooting roll TN6.
Aug 20, 2026 12:48 pm
must be a trick of the shadows, or worse, some sickness. perhaps we're doing it a favor. Vikram thinks, seeing the cat in full.
He nods at Bear and throws the bomb at it, watching expectantly as it arcs its way toward the thing.

the perfect support roll, just need a +1 for a raise. No pressure Bear, lolLast edited August 20, 2026 12:57 pm

This is a fear check, right? Bear has a +2 on those from the "brave" edge.Without that +2 I'd be shaken. Yikes!
As Vikram lets the bottle soar, Bear takes aim and fires, trying to hit the bottle just before impact and increase its potancy.

Rolls
Fear roll - (1d6+2, 1d6+2, RA)
1d6+2 : (1) + 2 = 3
1d6+2 : (2) + 2 = 4
shoot (TN6) + aim - (1d8+2, 1d6+2, RA)
1d8+2 : (87) + 2 = 17
1d6+2 : (1) + 2 = 3

That’s a perfect hit. I’ll add 1d6 fire damage.
The creature is Parry 6 Toughness 8
The fire damage shakes it…
Let’s stick with party initiative for now. If Ek can rush in and inflict another shake, it will be wounded (and taken out) this round….
…else it attacks
Rolls
fire damage - (1d6;1d6;1d6, RA)
(5) + (2) + (3) = 10
unshake - (1d8, RA)
(6) = 6

Oh. and yes that was a Fear check….
Before I forget, a benny to Bear for setting up the trick shot.

cat unshakes (prev post)
then attacks Ek as closest target , 1d8 fighting , 1d8+ 1d4 damage + 1d6 fire damage

A film of fire envelopes it…
OOC:
New Round
The monster has unshaken, but it will take another 2d6 damage each round on-I’ll roll that first.
fire damage shakes and wounds it, taking it out…
The manner of its fiery destruction is as unnatural as its appearance. The fire consumes it as though it were wood or coal rather than living flesh.
Taylor appears , walking swiftly into the garden from the hotel.
"Good job," he says. "But let’s get out of here before the cops turn up. We don’t want Burma Command getting mixed up in this. Let me talk to the manager and I’ll stall him. Meanwhile, get everything into the jeeps and we’ll roll…"
OOC:
Sinister apparition defeated!
Do you accept Taylor’s instructions? He is trying to avoid the attention if the authorities and keep moving.
An alternative will be to stay and let the local authorities make enquiries.
Rolls
attacks - (1d8, RA)
(1) = 1
continuing fire damage - (1d6;1d6, RA)
(64) + (3) = 13

Bear was ready to leap in front of Katya to fend off another attack, but before he can do anything the creature crumbles.
He frowns for a second, trying to make sense of it all. Then he hands the gun back to Katya. "Looks like one was enough."
He gives Vikram a pat on the shoulder. "That was some propper quick wits. How did you know it couldn't handle fire?"
