IC Story Thread: Chapter 1, Gamorr - the Diplomats

Aboard the Republic transport, approaching Jugsmuk Station on the planet Gamorr...

You've just exited hyperspace into the orbit of Gamorr, and you all stand at attention in the cargo hold as Jedi Master Barouk stands before you. Jedi Knight Mann Hyuma and Jedi Knight Miica Nurrirehn flank her on either side, while the contingent of Clone Troopers line the periphery.

You know the twi'leki General is not big on military formality, so this assembly feels just slightly out of place as she draws in a breath through her nose and sighs sharply before launching into a final briefing before touch-down.

"I'm sure you've all read your reports, but just a reminder...

The Gamorreans are no great fan of the Jedi, in general. We are here under special invite of Matron Urg'la, of Clan K'Thokk. And although we are here representing the army of the Galactic Republic, our role here is as diplomats and learners.

Matron Urg'la is the leader of her Clan - estimated between 2 and 300,000 strong - and her voice influential across all of Gamorr. If we perform well here, we believe we can parlay this relationship into multiple Gamorrean Clans putting boots on the ground, in some of our battlefronts along the hyperlane here. And as you know, the Gamorreans are formidable ground-troops.

So... let's not mess this up, yea?
", her mouth quirks in a wry smile, and she continues.

"First up on the agenda, after ground-transport to the Clan's territory, and I'm sure perfunctory glad-handing, and introduction to our quarters, and what not; we have been invited to partake in several days of cultural activities. Mainly feasting, as I understand it, but there will be other Clans there, and there are also various friendly competitions.

The Gamorreans are a People that respect strength and ability. As diplomats we are to be... diplomatic... but also if it comes to it, we must demonstrate that the Jedi and the Republic as a whole are worthy allies to the Gamorreans, alright? Understand...?

Only the Jedi and select Commanders from the Clone Troopers will be allowed to interact directly with the Gamorreans in this capacity.
"

She pauses, gathering further thoughts to relay, but under Master Barouk's more usual, casual paradigm this would be a good time to ask questions if you have any.
OOC:
Didn't want to flood you guys with TOO big of a wall-of-text, and so wanted to provide a break in the narrative.

Please help kick us off now by providing an introduction to your character in the form of a description both, physically and personality-wise. And also feel free to ask any in character OR out of character questions, if you have any at this stage. Or if there's any actions/checks you want to take, you can do that too!

Welcome to the game, thanks for playing, and let's have some fun!

Miica Nurrirehn stands with quiet, almost rigid posture at Master Barouk’s right side, his hands clasped loosely behind his back as though imitating a stance he’s seen other Jedi Knights take a dozen times before. The folds of his cream-colored tunic ripple slightly with the subtle vibrations of the ship, partially obscured by a darker brown outer robe that seems just a size too large for his slender frame.

The young Cerean's elongated skull gives him the familiar, stately silhouette of his people, but his youthful features betray his age and his state of mind. A neatly trimmed goatee frames his mouth, which is set in a thin, concentrated line. He keeps his eyes forward, but they flick toward Master Barouk, then down to the deck plating, then across the room to the Clone Troopers standing still and silent.

He takes a shallow breath as the briefing continues, forcing his body to remain still. He knows the posture of confidence. He’s practiced it in meditation, watched how Master Barouk moves, how Knight Hyuma carries himself. But here, now—on the verge of what could be a crucial diplomatic mission—he can’t shake the sense that someone will realize he’s not supposed to be here. That they’ll hear the silence in his head where certainty is supposed to be. That someone will ask something only a true Jedi Knight would know.

Still, he doesn’t speak. Not yet. He listens. Absorbs. Tries to project calm while his thoughts rattle like an unsecured tool kit during hyperspace exit.

They promoted you because you're ready, he tells himself. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t.

And yet, he casts a sideways glance toward Mann Hyuma—older, more assured—and wonders how many missions it will take before he starts believing it.

When Master Barouk opens the floor for questions, Miica’s lips part just slightly—but then close again. He defers to the others, for now, listening for what they’ll ask.

A young devaronian woman stands across from Master Barouk and the two knights that stand to either side of her. She has messy black hair, cut short with the exception of one long strand tied into a padawan's braid. This is jedi padawan Lyanna Zurros. She has yellow-brown eyes, redish pink skin and two small horns that protrude from her forehead. Her athletic figure is hidden under dark brown robes that she wears over a black vest top and loose fitting black trousers.

She stands with a relaxed posture as she appears to be listening to Master Barouk's briefing. To those who know Lyanna this isn't all that surprising. Most would describe her as confident and laid back. She has always implicitly believed that things will work out in the end. Whether this is just confidence in her own abilities or a trust in the will of the force, only Lyanna herself knows. Although recent events have shaken this attitude of hers. Those who only know her by reputation would know that she's skilled for her age but also reckless and in her early years as a padawan she would often disobey orders.

In truth her mind is elsewhere, she's distracted. The loss of her own master is still a fresh wound in her mind and now on her first assignment since his passing there is doubt in her mind. She would often ignore his advice, never having been the type of girl to let others tell her what to do or how to do it but ever since his passing she's felt naked without his guidance. She wonders it these feelings are normal. Jedi aren't supposed to form attachments so grief is a foreign feeling to her.

Still she isn't the first padawan to loose a master, especially with the galaxy being at war. She wouldn't have been put on a mission if she wasn't expected to have moved on from it by now.

Her ears perk up at the mention of the competitions. Perhaps the festivities will give her a chance to take her mind off her troubles, she thinks.

At one corner of the clone formation stands an ARC Trooper, ARC-60008 - Captain Cor. His armor is clean, polished and inspection-ready, but it carries signs of long service: minor chipping and scratches, the regimental markings cracked and dulled, the gleam of the white plates slightly softened by a few bits of carbon scoring that won't buff out.

Beneath one of his matte ARC pauldrons, the right shoulder bears a cracked mythosaur skull stenciled in matte crimson. Strapped across his chest is a worn extra ammo pouch, with a word handwritten in peeling white paint: HOPE.

Cor stands statue still at attention - but behind the visor his eyes are tracking and assessing everything. Jedi posture, clone readiness, entry and chokepoints. It's not paranoia, just habit. It's the small, overlooked details that get you.
Like the unit mascot for chaos and trouble, CT-4819, tilting his head slightly to the left as the General paused for questions. Which, for Giggs, usually means he's about to do something 'clever.'

Cor opens a private comm channel, muting his external vocoder, his voice low and dry. "Giggs. I'm sure you've got a hilarious question. But if you so much as inhale to crack wise, I'll have your shebs hanging from a shuttle scrubbing carbon off the hull. With a toothbrush. While entering atmosphere."

He gives it a beat, allowing Giggs time to give the only acceptable response. A tight, quick click of acknowledgement on the comms. "Save the jokes up for the ride down. But if no-one laughs, it will be reflected in your next eval," Cor deadpans.

Then without missing a beat, Cor steps a clean half-step forward and unmutes his vocoder to address Master Barouk. "General, the briefing says Gamorreans are physically incapable of speaking Basic. How are we handling translation?"
Cor tilts his helmet forward, the clone equivalent of a cocked eyebrow. "I'd rather not guess whether an aggressive grunt means 'welcome' or 'death to the offworlders.'"

The Jedi General looks over to Cor, nodding sharply, "Yes, thank you Captain. Many Gamorreans understand at least some degree of Galactic Basic.

And Gamorrean was a part of my language studies, and is no doubt a large part of why the Council chose me to head this mission. So I will of course lead any official conversations.

But a part of the scope of this mission is to engage in informal, personal interactions with members of their leadership - build trust and understanding, and so hopefully you've all studied your military "First 50" primer enough to understand - or even try to speak, if you're brave - at least some portion of the yes, no, thank you, stuff?

That said... language is a part of the barrier we are tasked with over coming, here. It is one barrier that stands between a stronger alliance between the Republic and Gamorr. While a lot of our engagements with them will be 'howler and bantha-show' stuff - which should demand nothing more than looking smiling and nodding - those of us serving as diplomatic representatives will no doubt have to conduct some level of effective personal communications.

So, get creative. Rely on universal 'languages'. As can be read in your report, Gamorrean culture tends to venerate food, pod racing, many of our interactions are likely to be with warriors and guards, so - weaponry, their tribal dance and drum-based music, so on...

A little of the ol' 'lizard-monkey see, lizard-monkey do' may go a long ways here, hm?

Anything else, before I proceed with the second phase objectives?
", her eyes sweep the assembled.
OOC:
I want to give Furmyr the chance to give us an introduction before proceeding, but will try to get us through this "stage-setting" next week.
Jun 30, 2025 8:02 am
A Phylodon leans against the wall, arms crossed, suggeting a closed off body language. He is larger than the average Phylodon, not that most people have seen enough of them to tell. He listen to Master Barouk and the Arc Trooper speak, but remains silent. He's starting to realize why he was chosen, if they value strength he was a natural choice.

When Barouk asks for anything else, he just shakes his head. Figuring that he's operating at a need to know basis and that the master will tell them anything pertinent.
Jun 30, 2025 4:37 pm
The twilek nods sharply at the silence, her lekku rippling subtly.

"Very good. Second Phase:

These cultural gatherings will culminate in the meeting of a tribunal of Clans, which the Matron is hoping to use to revive a peace treaty - the Bloodroot Accord - which has been dead for several decades. This would end some border wars that would impact millions of Gammoreans. And hopefully allow them to turn their attentions to the war with the Separatists, which will have important consequences for Gamorr, one way or the other.

Most notably, a likely return to complete control by the Hutts, if the Republic loses, so... that is our leverage.

Anyway that tribunal is the centerpiece of the diplomatic visit, and prominently hinges on talks with the Morgrir Clan - who are actually more friendly toward the Republic.

Urg'la has invited us as a show of goodwill to them.

And if things go well, and the Accord is revived, we are expecting an extension of our visit, which is to incorporate a trip and access to a cultural site - the Temple of Carnuss Gorgoll. The former headquarters and now tomb of an ancient Gamorream warlord, for whom the Temple is eponymously named.

This warlord was a rare Force-sensitive Gamorrean, who came as near as any Gamorrean has to uniting the planet - albeit under a bloody fist - more than 10,000 years ago.

And the Jedi are very interested in learning more about this figure. We have never been allowed access to the Temple before, so this is, again, another great opportunity which we care greatly for the success of...

We have... very little idea of what we could find there, and... in truth, it is why we have 5 Jedi allocated to this mission.

What little the histories do know of him are ... not good.
"

She pauses a moment to reflect on anything else to include in the briefing before soliciting further questions.
Jul 1, 2025 7:38 am
Cevron has to concentrates on Master Barouk's words, did he go through all this training only to have to listen to Gamoreans talking. His attention perks up when Barouk mentions the force sensitive warlord. Exploring ancient temples sounds more his speed. Maybe this mission won't be so boring after all.

OOC:
Again mostly just didn't want to hit you guys with TOO huge of a wall-of-text while doing the in character scene-setting.

I don't necessarily expect or need you guys to have questions. Just laying the ground work and giving folks an opportunity to start characterizing their... characters :P ... and to "interrogate the fiction" to help me fill in my blind spots.

If you ever feel like you don't have the full story, you probably don't, so asking the right questions and possibly rolling well if needed will help things make sense.

We'll get to more engaging (hopefully) roleplay and the clicky-clacks soon.

OOC:
If anyone who hasn't chimed in yet does have questions about the second half of the briefing, please feel free to still make those inquiries or checks.

But I'm gonna push us forward.
The briefing concludes as the transport begins to shudder and roar, entering the atmosphere of Gamorr.

You land at Jugsmuk Station, the planet's primary intergalactic star port, and disembark to little fanfare nor attention (aside from that of the Gamorrean starport and military personal who process your arrival).

There are two planetary transport vessels docked within the starship which you all use to fly, under escort, to the K'Thokk territory, and the Gamorrean city of Urh’grak Crag.

The transport crests the forested ridgeline of a low lying, young mountain range, and you can all see that you fly toward the expansive courtyard of a citadel that is thronging with Gamorreans at the fringes of a landing pad.
OOC:
If your character is one who would be inclined to be looking out of a transport window upon your approach, please give me a Vigilance check.

Cor moves up the transport's center aisle, checking in on troopers as he goes, before taking a seat near near Lyanna and Cevron.
He takes his helmet off, settling it in his lap with his DC-15 carbine, which reveals the shrapnel scars marking his left cheek and the side of his head.
"See anything interesting, Commanders?"
Jul 7, 2025 2:15 pm
OOC:
Some good rolls there! Alright so I'm seeing 5 success a Triumph and 3 Advantage for the Group...

@valdattaMadun you take 1 Strain
As a collective you notice several things about your LZ.

1. There is a formation of Gamorrean soldiers and other personnel dressed in official Planetary State attire out on the landing pad. Awaiting your arrival with flags flying and drummers poised for pomp and circumstance.
- ((ooc: Advantage 1)) The soldiers at the periphery of this formation, are ill at ease, you can tell they're supposed to be at attention, as most of the formation is, but several at the fringes are reacting to the crowd...

2. There is a small number of Gamorreans who are holding up pro-Republic or pro-Jedi signs, concentrated in one area.

3. There is a larger number of Gamorreans holding up anti-Republic and anti-Jedi signs, but they are more dispersed.

4. Based on the layout of the pad, and the formation, and the crowd, you can tell where the main entry point into the Citadel is.
- ((ooc: Advantage 2)) You spot a viable alternate entry... should it be needed...

5. The scene as a whole is rather lively and mixed. There are many Gamorreans who are there just having a good time, watching this State-spectacle, young, old, and in between. But there is also demonstrating from both sides - anti- and pro-Republic. There are barriers and crowd control officers in between you landing point and main entry to the Citadel, and in places they are actively having to push back against anti- protesters.
- ((ooc: Advantage 3)) You spot several sources of cover... should it be needed...

((ooc: Triumph 1)) You spot a small group of Gamorreans wearing colors and masking up, gathered in a spot deeper within the crowd, but between the landing point and the main entry to the Citadel. They are each pulling something out of packs and bags and distributing it amongst themselves...

Master Barouk is going over a read out on her data pad - likely a final look at names and titles and things. And you're about 20 seconds from touch down.

OOC:
And thanks for deferring your check @BuyCrom ... I don't know what more detail I could have figured out to give!! lol
Jul 8, 2025 7:34 am
"Looks like a warm welcome," Cevron says. Then he looks to Master Barouk. "What kind of response are we allowed to use if the protest turns... ugly?"
Jul 8, 2025 2:32 pm
The Jedi Master looks up from her data pad, which she's studying intently, "Mm, what? Response??"

She's clearly not aware of the situation which the other Jedi are observing.
Jul 10, 2025 2:53 pm
OOC:
@valdattaMadun,@Seandiggersby,@BuyCrom kind of looking for more engagement here.

Anything anyone wants to add to the scene?
Jul 10, 2025 4:53 pm
Miica looks at the jedi master then toward the viewport.

It appears there is some pomp and circumstance for us at arrival but the general public seems to have opinions less than favorable to the Republic
Jul 11, 2025 2:09 pm
Lyanna nods in agreement with Miica. "There's also them over there." She adds, pointing out the window to the group of Gamoreans masking up and passing items between each other. "With how controversial our visit seems to be, I don't like to imagine what they could be up to"
Jul 11, 2025 11:57 pm
The twilek runs up to the windows on both sides, seeing what the others have to show her, "Awww, kriffing poodoo..."

The ship shudders violently as it goes in to land, and the Jedi Master raises her voice to be heard above the racket, speaking quickly.

"Do Not Engage Hostiles! I repeat: Do. Not. Engage!

Defend yourselves, if it comes to it - but NO killing!!

Defend our Gamorrean State reps, if it comes to it!!
"

She braces herself just before the ship lands, giving everything and everyone a final violent jolt. Then there's a loud *HISSSS* as the transport cargo bay door opens.

Your ears are filled with a cacophony of guttural roars and grunts and gasping squeals, it's impossible to tell if it's joyous or angry. There is also a swell of thunderous drumming that kicks up once the bay door has opened.

General Barouk sweeps her ceremonial half-cape away from the side of her hip that carries her lightsaber and she strides down the ramp, putting up the hand signal for *Wedge formation on me.*
OOC:
I want you to ask yourselves, how experienced is your character with field military situations?

Are they nervous? Have they been in a situation like this before - surrounded by potential hostiles, but unable to see them, and unable really to fight back?

If not, roll yourself and Average (PP) to Hard (PPP) Discipline check.

And regardless if experience, please give us some narrative as to your characters thoughts and behavior.
"Here we go!", you think you hear the General say, as she begins to stride into the 35 meter gap between your ship and the Gamorrean state reception.
Jul 12, 2025 1:09 am
The drumming shakes Miica to his bones, a low thunder that echoes the pounding in his chest. The Gamorreans’ roars bleed into the steady rhythm of the drums, making it impossible to tell if the sound means celebration or confrontation. As the transport ramp lowers and the wave of noise crashes over them, Miica hesitates, just for a heartbeat. It is not enough to draw attention, but he feels it. That familiar pull, like being dragged underwater. It brings him back to Jabiim. Back to the rain and mud and panic. Back to the moment they told him he was a Jedi Knight now, not because he had passed the Trials, but because there simply was no time for them. Because they needed him to lead. He had nodded, said yes, done the job. But he had never stopped feeling like the robes were someone else’s.

He breathes in slowly and falls into formation behind General Barouk, each step a quiet act of will. His green lightsaber hangs at his side like a question. His cream robes, half-hidden beneath the dark brown cloak, feel like a costume more than a calling. He scans the crowd ahead, watching the shapes and motion in the chaos, nerves buzzing at the edge of his awareness. This is not battle, not yet, but it feels like a storm is always nearby. Miica keeps moving, jaw tight, trying to remember what it is supposed to feel like to be ready. Trying not to let anyone see how hard he is trying.

The shuddering of the ship and then the drumming as she steps out into the crowded landing platform shakes Lyanna. The pounding of the drums echoes the pounding of her heart in her chest as she steps out of the ship with her fellow representatives of the republic. She keeps a hand low near where her lightsaber hangs from her belt should she need it. She can't help but feel a hint of fear as she scans the crowd around her for danger. She has felt a similar sense of unease before, when her and her master used to patrol Coruscant's undercity. Danger was hiding all around there too but somehow this feels different. She feels alone in this crowd, even though she is amongst clone soldiers and her fellow jedi. She can't understand a single thing the crowd is saying, she worries that if there is an attack of some kind she won't be able to tell the difference between who among the gamoreans is hostile and who is friendly. She tries to hide her nervousness as she falls into formation behind Master Barouk.

Everyone avoids negative effects of the intimidating scene.

@valdattaMadun,@Seandiggersby you both have a Boost (+Blu) to your next check, and valdatta, you may give another PC of your choice a Boost to their next check as well.
Once the squad is fully in the gap, fruits and vegetables begin to fly - an insult that was mentioned in your briefing report - intermittently from somewhere in the deeper ranks of both sides of the crowd, which is divided by the processional walkway to the main landing pad exit.

Initially the projectiles can only reach Clone Troopers who make up the wings of the wedge formation. You hear the buzz of exasperated sighs and muffled grunts over the open comms channel from some of the Troopers, as they just take the non-lethal projectiles in stride without breaking formation.

But soon, as Master Barouk at the point of the wedge nears the Gamorrean State contingent, even the Jedi are within range - as well as the Gamorrean State personnel...

A few meters from the foremost Gamorrean, a soft looking cabbage-like vegetable comes down on the Master, but just before it hits her and again without breaking stride - her lightsaber flashes off of it's hangar, splitting the plant matter and causing it to fall to the ground on either side of her harmlessly. Her lightsaber quenched and back on its hangar before the stuff even hits the ground.

Soon, everyone is under the hail of the volley of food stuffs!

The Gamorrean officials are caught off guard, and instinctively start ducking and raising their arms above their heads to avoid the impacts, as they look over their shoulders.

Some Gamorrean soldiers manning the barriers start slamming the hafts of their vibro-axes into the chests of the front line of the crowd... despite none of the projectiles really coming from them.
OOC:
Please everyone give me some narrative that describes if, or how, your character tries to avoid being hit by the non-lethal projectiles, and a corresponding Skill (or Force Power) check or Talent(?) of your choosing that matches your narrative.

Skill checks should be made at Average difficulty (PP), plus a Setback (Blk) if you remain in formation to do it, plus another Setback if you do it without breaking stride (i.e. the "stronger" you want to look for the Gamorreans, the harder it is to do).

Or if you don't try to avoid being hit, you will just take some automatic strain (and still look "strong" as you appear unconcerned with their insults).

If it helps, here's a crude drawing of the situation:

Cevron takes a deep breath as the vegatables start pummeling them. It takes all his attention to keep staring ahead and keeping in formation. Seeing a pear like fruit coming at him from the side though, he acts instinctively using the force to push it aside. Anger is brewing in him, how can they insult them with this welcome.

Miica watches as Master Barouk slices the vegetable midair without breaking her stride, the halves falling neatly to either side. He draws his own lightsaber in response, its green glow flashing as it severs a tumbling fruit headed his way. The blade hums back to rest at his side, just as smoothly, though his grip is tighter than he’d like. Miica forces himself to keep his eyes forward, matching Barouk’s pace, hoping his poise holds as well as his saber did.

Lyanna grimaces as the fruit and vegetables begins flying towards the jedi and clones. She understands that some of the gamoreans aren't happy with them being here, she just wishes they could show it in a less irritating way. OOC:
@valdattaMadun you take 2 Strain as you (narrowly) fail to avoid the barrage with as much aplomb as you desired. Doesn't necessarily mean you failed to slice the projectiles, or avoid impacts - only that you fail to project the appearance you may have wanted, and it takes you visible effort to do so.

But as a group you're largely successful, and impressively so!
As lightsabers flash and whirr and buzz - ominously but precisely and effectively - and another of you uses the Force to guide the vegetable-matter harmlessly but noticeably aside, the clamor of the crowd dwindles some as many Gamorreans fall silent, processing the open display of power and ability that the vast majority of them had only heard about and possibly only understood as overblown story or even myth.

Even their diplomatic delegation can't help but stare with some level of wonderment.

Between that and the threats of the Gamorrean soldiers guarding the barriers, the hail of insults subsides, and the drums pick up again in their ceremonial bluster.

The most garishly-dressed Gamorrean, who is also standing at the center of their delegation has an arm full of... some sort of wreaths or necklaces... which she moves to place about the neck of each Jedi, beginning with General Barouk. You find the wreaths are constructed of long strands of some sort of coarse animal-hair, and it is interwoven with waxy leaves of some plant. The lead Gamorrean then returns to the Master and hands her a ceremonial dagger, symbolizing the offering of safety, and the Master lifts it high, acknowledging the offering to all, but then returns it - symbolizing her trust.

Your briefing has described this process as a traditional welcome from one tribe to another, to enter their territory.

The drums cease abruptly, and there is a further ceremonial exchange of greetings and names and verbal accordance. An old model protocol droid steps close to the exchange, so that it may be caught on vocorder and broadcast for all gathered to hear.

Again, largely pausing so as not to overwhelm you all with a wall of text. But also to give you an opportunity to, roleplay and react/reflect and just help characterize the scene and situation.

So please do so (eventually I'll stop prompting you to post, but at this stage just trying to introduce you to my style and flow as GM - when I post, I expect you to post with some sort of response).

If there's any specific action(/check?) you'd like to take, you can of course do that as well.

But I also acknowledge that we're still on a bit of autopilot here, as we work through this introductory scene.

Miica exhales slowly once the last of the tomatoes stop flying, his shoulders sinking an inch as the storm of food gives way to silence. He had missed a couple, one burst wetly against his shoulder, another slapped against the hem of his robe, and of course it showed. The Padawans had done better, naturally, and he chews on the thought with quiet frustration. But as the wreath is placed around his neck and the ceremonial dagger is offered and returned, something settles inside him. Maybe diplomacy is where he can be useful, where he does not need to feel like he is pretending. What does he know about these customs that others may not?

Yea, excellent! Gamorr is an insular culture, so I'll give it a Hard (PPP) Difficulty, and I'll just roll it too, for expediency-sake.

Will edit this post with a narrative of your additional understanding(s) once I have the roll result.

4 bits of knowledge for your 4 success. I'll spend 1 Threat to Strain you, and 1 on a narrative effect...
Miica knows:

1. Their culture does operate on a sort of system of honor, so these rituals are not just ceremonial or symbolic, but ones honor is only as "good" or valuable as their prowess in combat or strength i.e. if you're strong you can violate your honor to the detriment of weaker people or parties, but not stronger.

2. "Honor Duels" are a common thing, where a dishonored or weaker party can try to claim higher status/honor, through impromptu battle. The victorious party can do basically whatever they want to the loser. Scarring and maiming is common, as is summary execution IF a known stronger party defeats a weaker (but if a weaker defeats a stronger, it is frowned upon to execute the formerly-stronger - UNTIL/unless there is another duel).

3. Most of their law revolves around corporal punishment, but is scalable based upon your strength/prowess/honor. i.e. legal punishments are more severe the stronger you are.

4. There are ways to earn honor short of combat, some of the "highlights" of which are ritualistic scarring/branding, hunting/providing, and bearing parasites.

Cevron eyes the crowds suspiciously, but the barrage of fruits seems to have stopped for now. He turns his attention back to the ceremony going on in front of him. As a phylodon he stands a little taller than the average Gamorreans, so he has to bend his neck down to receive the wreath. He remains silent as the dagger is handed to Barouk and as it is handed back. He hopes that they can actually trust that they won't eventually get the dagger in their back.
Jul 23, 2025 1:53 pm
Lyanna smirks at the crowd as she walks through their barrage of fruit and veg unscathed. The blade of her lightsaber retracts and she clips it back on to her belt once its clear that the crowd has calmed down a bit. She examines the wreath that was placed around her neck for a moment before looking up to watch the ceremony with the dagger with curiosity. She hopes this gesture of good fate will be enough to quell the dislike some of the Gamorreans have for the republic. Her attention shifts back to the crowd to see how they reacted to the ceremony.

OOC:
Thank you all, good stuff in there!
After the exchange of words, there is a rise in the closest thing you've heard to a joyous noise from the Gamorrean crowd - a kind of yipping squeal. There is also a rise in a derogatory sound - like the exasperated and rude blowing of "raspberries" - but it is lesser in volume than the yipping and squealing.

The Gamorrean delegation turns around to lead a processional march out of the landing pad area, but you can all see that there is a disturbance in the crowd to the left side of the path...

Master Barouk has mounted an open-top palanquin with the lead delegate, which is born to the front of the procession. And she's largely caught up in pleasantries and being a spectacle for the crowd. And she doesn't seem to see it, but you all do:

Whatever the disturbance is, it has caused a surge forward in the crowd, and this surge pushes a couple of Gamorrean observers at the front of it all through the barrier. They stagger and fall face first in the process.

They were not trying to breach the boundary, but were just forced through a joint in the low metal fencing, by the weight pressing behind them!

Regardless, two Gamorrean guards apparently only really see that they have come through the barrier, and they grunt and squeal aggressively, and raise their vibro-axes above their heads, as they close on the victims!

It would be a clear injustice, if the victim Gamorreans were punished... at least by Republic standards... you have less than a moment to think, but could still intervene...
OOC:
What do you do?

To each of the Jedi, you will take 1 Conflict if you don't intervene - for "Knowing inaction".

But if you do intervene, and depending upon HOW, it could ofc have repercussions.

So again, looking for opportunities for you all to show us WHO your character is.

And also explore what do you see your roles here as? You're diplomats certainly - but also Jedi.

And what is your understanding of your role(s) here, and what are you comfortable risking, etc.
Jul 24, 2025 8:37 am
Cevron stifles a yawn when suddenly something seem to be happening. He sees a commotion and two Gamorreans fall down. He was told not to interfer, but senslessly killing unarmed civilians don't sit right with him. He hopes the master will forgive his transgression as he steps out of formation and steps in front of the guards, trying to protect the two fallen Gamorreans.

Still unarmed he holds up his arms. "Are we killing people for tripping now!" he says in his most authoritative voice.

Three things:

1. RE: if you need to roll: if you want to materially impact the narrative it's usually good to roll. And I appreciate when you roll unprompted by me. But I will say, with every roll you make unbidden, also go ahead and include an Average difficulty with a Setback (PPBlk).

I will add some further thoughts on this topic here.

2. Your soldier-brain could parse: when Master said not to engage "the hostiles". She was really addressing the agitators that were spotted. Gamorrean state guards weren't specifically contemplated in her command ;P

Though it's safe to assume her "no killing" order applies to basically all Gamorreans.

2. Using Coercion is to try to invoke fear in another. Doing so will cause 2 Conflict...

As promised, I am not using Morality as a "Gotchya!", so you have the opportunity to change your mind here.

Youre an Aggressor, so I know this is kind of your thing. But still, wanted to put it out there. You could use Leadership or whatever.

Also, I will delay an in-narrative development until others have had the opportunity to also act, if they want.

(They could help you, or try to stop YOU, etc, so just want to have the full view of what is going on before we advance the narrative.)

The crowd surges and Miica sees the Gamorreans fall through the barrier, just as the guards raise their weapons to strike. He moves without hesitation with Cevron, stepping into the path between them with one hand raised and open. His voice carries across the sudden tension, calm but firm.

"Hold," he says, voice raised but steady, eyes flicking between the guards and the frightened civilians. "They were pushed, his was not an attack."

Lyanna watched as the comotion spreads through the crowd and then as the gamoreans at the front fell forward and broke through the boundary. It wouldn't be right to let them die and she wouldn't be much of a jedi uf she ddn't do something to help them. Fortunately her fellow jedi are stepping in to intervene so she backs them up.

"That's right, it looked like something happened further back that caused the whole crowd to push forward." Lyanna says, trying to explain the situation to them. Her gaze shifts between the two guards, they might have seen her earlier display of her skill with a lightsaber and hopes that will deter them from attacking the civilians if the fact that they did nothing wrong isn't enough. Jul 29, 2025 3:12 pm
OOC:
Sorry took me a bit to put this together....

The boosts cancelled out the threats, so a "simple" success.

Only mechanical consequence then is the Conflict.
The Gamorrean guards stop in their tracks with looks of surprise, fear, and confusion passing over their faces in equal measure.

They clearly won't dare to defy the Jedi, despite this being their jurisdiction and authority...

The individuals who were pushed through the barrier struggle to get up off the ground, and you think you hear the pitiful squealing-grunt sound that you recall from your mission primer as a "thank you", as they hold their hands out placatingly to the guards.

With all of that commotion, and what was clearly not a scripted part of the ceremonial spectacle, you three realize that basically all of the attention of the gathered crowd and various state and military personnel has fallen on you. But yet, from your perspective looking outward - you can see that whatever the impetus was behind the surge that pushed those two through... it didn't stop...
OOC:
GM flips a Destiny point - using it to kind of enact a "cut scene" here.
Even as you place your bodies between the guards and the fallen Gamorreans, you see a whole line of Gamorreans have pushed to the front of the crowd to belly-up to the barrier, they have violet cloth bandanas pulled up on their faces, and though they initially hold them low - you can see they have weapons in their hands.

And as you realize your efforts will be successful to protect the fallen civilians from the charging barrier guards, you see other masked Gamorreans behind those heave projectiles into the midst of the ceremonial procession...

The small metallic canisters blink with a small red light as they arc through the air, and explode upon impact with the ground.

Chaos breaks out after that...

Dozens of the masked Gamorreans are jumping or pushing down the barriers, on both sides of the ceremonial pathway, apparently intent upon charging the ceremonial procession.

Civilians drop to the ground or begin fleeing in all directions.

Several figures in the Gamorrean ceremonial retinue, including the Master's palanquin - are down, the palanquin toppled. Due to the press of bodies and smoke or dust from the explosions you cannot see Master Barouk's status...

A couple Clone Troopers are down as well - though you can see other Clones are already moving to their comrades sides...

Making your way to the Master and/or the ceremonial procession's exit would take you into the midst of the masked Gamorreans' assault.
OOC:
Sorry for the wall of text, tried to be as brief as possible while still communicating all necessary information, but what do you do?

She's also shouting orders to the Clones that are nearest her, but you cannot hear what they are. Though they are forming up on her, taking defensive postures.

As a result of Cevron barging into the fray though, he has drawn the attention of a masked dissident, who engages him in melee!

You need to make a check that tells us how you fend off the attackers.

2 Strain Miica.
As the Jedi wade into the fray, cutting down at least 3 of their number in short order, the dissidents around you all are visibly dismayed and begin to retreat.

Master Barouk's voice comes over the comms and she's saying, "... get the Gamorrean Diplomats out of there!"

As Cevron witnessed, the Master is with the Lead Diplomat and is moving her toward the main exit from the landing pad, as she was on that side of the press of bodies.

But there are two other diplomats in the middle of the fracas. Their guards are doing all they can to fend off the dissident attackers, but overwhelmed by their numbers, have no capacity to move anywhere.

Your way to the diplomats, in the wake of the retreating dissidents around you, is open to get to them. But moving them toward the main exit would be impossible without engaging more of the attackers.

As Cevron tries to pick out specific threats, he finds there's still dozens of masked dissidents pressing in upon the diplomatic procession. Although the few immediately around the Jedi running away has created an opening for escape in that direction.

Valdatta, If Cevron's Boost doesn't push you over the line into net Success, Miica takes 3 Strain.
Cevron and Miica navigate the crowd toward the exit, but it is a fraught process. Dissidents are hard to tell from others, and can materialize from behind a civilian with little to no warning, striking out with weapons before a proper defense can be mustered.

But between the Clones and the Jedi you get the Gamorrean diplomats to what turns out to be a set of maintenance bay doors, and out of the fray.

If you look back before the door hisses shut, you see the assault platform maneuvering low over the crowd, putting down heavy fire into the press of moving bodies...

The gray oval is your shuttle/where you guys originally came out onto the landing pad.

The red dots are basically where the ceremony was and where the attack happened.

The blue arrow is the last known position of Master Barouk, and the direction she was heading.

The yellow arrow was the direction you guys went, and the yellow dot is your current location.

So to get to the Citadel, you're either going back out into the landing pad, or navigating the building.
The two diplomats look at each other and kind of shrug and shake their heads, one of them points up, indicating that perhaps an upper level of the structure would be your best bet.

But clearly this is something outside of their area of knowledge.
Sep 3, 2025 7:52 am
"Lock the door behind us, do not let anyone in!" Cevron tells them. "We will be back."

At least he hopes they will be back, but he won't let his doubt show.

He starts looking for stairs or ladders that can take them up quickly, and once he's found one starts climbing to the upper level the diplomat pointed to.
Sep 3, 2025 5:05 pm
Miica follows Cevron's lead and looks for the best way up as well.

OOC:
Just to verify, you're leaving the diplomats here.
Off in the back corner of the maintenance bay, there is an open spiral stair that goes up to another level. You rush up it and find that it enters into what appears to be some sort of command or air traffic control room - as it has a large bay window over looking the landing pad, where you can see your shuttle outside.

There are a few Gamorreans at consoles tapping about at holo-terminals rather idly, and a couple grunting and squealing impassively over a commlink.

Most of them tho turn, startled, to look upon you both at your arrival.

No check necessary, and really your character knows where the Citadel is, they can see it out the windows of the control room here. If your want to go there, just say you go there.

I thought you guys came up here to try to do something about the assault platform.
Sep 5, 2025 1:20 pm
Cevron was caught by surprise by the Gamorreans. He mentally struck himself for such an inane question. He could see the kriffing Citadel from the window. He'd never advance to a proper Jedi if the mere presence of people would shake him so. He shook his head, trying to shut down his own self doubt and ask a more pressing question.

"Or can you control assault platform from here?" he asks. "Or point us in that direction."
Sep 8, 2025 3:31 pm
The Gamorreans squeal and grunt in reply, but it's difficult to make out the exact gist of their response which is likely fairly technical given the question.

However they also show you that there is another assault platform outside on the rampart of the wall, which is unmanned.

It could be piloted in an attempt to stop the other skiff, which is straffing above the chaotic and dispersing crowds.
Sep 10, 2025 5:17 pm
Let us get to the other platform and see if we can stop this madness already. Miica says and begins to head for the platform
Sep 10, 2025 6:57 pm
The assault platform is a pretty basic aerial skiff with a mounted repeater. The other assault platform, manned by 2 Guards, is strafing overhead of the chaotic and panicked crowd. Many Gamorreans are trying to flee, but the obvious exit points are pinch points for volume. And there are some last remaining individuals of the dissidents harrying the Citadel and diplomatic guards as they try to get to the main Citadel doors and close our barricade them.

The assault skiff is focusing on the area of the dissidents, but there are certainly non-combatants who either are panicked and aren't moving, or have tried to take cover but there's not much to be had, and are in danger of becoming collateral damage.
OOC:
Whatever you do, it will certainly require a Piloting (Planetary) check, so maybe narrate what you're trying to do and provide that roll.
Sep 11, 2025 9:33 am

Otherwise he'll stay at a distance, letting Miica handle the armaments.

Well dang lol

Nice/lucky roll!

So... there's two Gamorreans on this platform, one piloting, one gunning. I'm assuming you're going for the gunner - if for no other reason than going for the pilot could lead you all to crash (plus the gunner's the one... doing the shooting)!

Difficulty for a Brawl is just PP. So my two upgrades change that to RR - upgrading a roll changes the color of the dice, it doesn't add them (the setback can stand).

Which means the roll nets-out to be the same! 1 success, 1 Threat.

I'll use that that to Strain Miica 1 point!

I think that roll was probably really about the only interesting/impactful roll that is likely to emerged from this encounter, and you got through it without Despair or failure, so I'm gonna push us forward a little bit on a narrative basis so we can move on to more interesting things, which I might not normally do in a combat encounter... We never rolled initiative anyway and so hadn't technically entered Structured Play anyway! :P

Hope that's okay!
Miica leaps down onto the Gamorrean assault platform. And they're basically unaware of the Jedi's presence - or that they're going to act against them - until their small craft shudders from the Guardian's landing!

With a swift combative engagement the gunner topples from the platform, at which point the startled pilot steers the platform back towards it's dock.
Sep 18, 2025 6:08 pm
Miica breathes deeply as he watches the crowd from the platform as it moves back towards it's dock. Maybe he is ready for this roll as a Jedi Knight...
Sep 19, 2025 7:32 am
"Well done!" Cevron calls out to Miica as he follows the other platform. "So, off to the Citadel? Jump on."

Cevron figures it could be faster to use the platform to get there now that he has a basic understanding of the controls.
Sep 19, 2025 9:34 pm
Moving back to Cevron he nodes and says Let's go then.
Sep 23, 2025 5:34 am
Cevron nods and waits for Miica to get aboard before flying towards the Citadel. He's concerned for Master Barouk, but refuses to let it show, putting on a stone faced face as they rush towards the Citadel.
Sep 23, 2025 3:29 pm
There is no great place to land the platform on the ground near the Citadel, without landing in the midst of the ongoing melee of the crowd dispersal effort. Plus it looks like the main Citadel door out to the greater landing pad area is shut now, and could very well be sealed.

But there is a walkway on top of the radial wall, which leads out to the flight control room were you both can't up and found the docking platforms for the unmanned assault skiff. You can land on that walkway, albeit with minor damage to both the skiff and the walkway, right next to a door that enters into the main Citadel building.

Upon doing so, however, you find the door locked. There is a control panel for the door. Or there is the walkway back out toward the flight control room.
Sep 23, 2025 4:36 pm
Miica walks to the control panel and looks for a button for communication or something to signal the intent to enter
Sep 23, 2025 4:57 pm
There is an intercom button, and he receives a squealing and grunted reply back from... someone... on the other side of the comm.

No check needed! Just time and the will...

However, this is fairly close to "Unnecessary Destruction" in the Conflict table, but doesn't seem to warrant 3 Conflict to me (I would envision that more like Kylo Ren's rages where he just essentially is throwing a temper tantrum with a lightsaber)...

But you also didn't exhaust other (less destructive) options before pursuing this route, like Slicing or looking for another way.

You have the opportunity to retcon, as again, I don't want to deploy the Conflict mechanic as a "Gotchya!" but would you still do this is it incurs 1 Conflict?

Cevron plunges his lightsaber into the metal surface of the door and begins working it around to form an opening that is big enough for them to step through.

It's not a reinforced blast door and so the work goes fairly quickly, and soon enough you're both able to just step inside.

The hallway is empty on the other side of the door - if there ever were guards at it, they have no doubt been redirected to help secure the main Citadel door - but it does leave you in an unfamiliar place, with just a series of identical looking doors and turns ahead of you.

Still, the dissidents outside have all been subdued or dispersed now, and it would seem that the "excitement" is over. And you're able to get ahold of Master Barouk and rendezvous with her and the other members of your contingent son enough.

...

You all meet in a large and ornate audience chamber, there is the Master, your Jedi Service Corp survival specialist, a couple of the Clone Trooper squad captains, and Cevron and Miica. In addition to the Gamorrean diplomat's and their guard.

Master Barouk looks upon the other two Jedi with relief as they enter and says, "Well... that was exciting, hm?"

An older Bothan with dark brown fur gives a little cough. He is holding a meter long shockprod as if it's a walking stick, and there's a deceptively cute flying creature using it as a perch. He's wearing some armor, but you can tell it's new and he isn't used to it yet. "Forgive me for speaking out of turn, but are Jedi missions always this perilous? Should I be expecting danger from touchdown to takeoff?"
Sep 29, 2025 2:18 pm
Cevron nods at Kolibri and Master Barouk when they are reunited. He's unable to hide the relief in his face, but he quickly cover over it with his usual bluster. "Nothing we couldn't handle," he says. "Though I am glad you made it out in one piece as well."
Sep 29, 2025 10:48 pm
The Master smiles wryly, "Where the Jedi go? Peril tends to either lie in wait, or follow, Specialist Kolbiri... This bit however was largely unforeseen...

While they are a very war-like people, Gamorr gave us no indication there was such a ... protest... as this awaiting us.

The danger should be mostly over with... There is the potential for other outbursts such as this at the Tribunal when the Bloodroot Accord is re-negotiated and reinstated. But the Matron has already done the legwork to ensure she has the necessary support from the leadership, and the Tribunal is mostly a formality.

But that doesn't mean there won't be objections from their people....

Still, they know now. And should be better prepared.
"
Sep 29, 2025 11:20 pm
Kolibri strokes his chin in thought "Sounds like we also need to be prepared. Have any of today's attackers been caught? Maybe we can question them about future planned attacks?"
Sep 30, 2025 3:04 pm
OOC:
So, we have ended the encounter. You guys can make a Simple (no dif) Discipline OR Cool check to recover Strain if you'd like, as well as any other checks if there's anything else you want to do.
The Master nods along with Kolibri's words but says, "That is ... not really our place here, specialist.

The Gamorreans have their own process and these are their citizens in their jurisdiction. We are not here as a police force. Only diplomats and learners.

Now I s...
", at this point a Gamoreean guard has approached and bangs the pommel of the haft of his polearm on the ground and utters a short series of grunts and squeals. The protocol droid from out on the landing pad translates.

"Master Jedi, the Matron requests an immediate audience. If you will please.", and it motions the Master toward a wide and deep extended dais where the Matron sits at the peak with the Ganorrean diplomat's flanking her.

Master Barouk nods and addresses you all before turning to go, "Well, there was to be a tour before we're shown to our quarters, but, eh... I don't know if that's still the plan. Standby, and, well, just try to relax?", then she goes to the dais, with the Captain of the Clone Troopers accompanying her.

...

Meanwhile some of the other Gamorrean guards approach you three, from over by the closed blast doors where they just got done fighting the dissidents. They approach with a swagger and bobbing their heads to you all, vibro-axes slung on their backs. A couple mimick the moves of an invisible lightsaber in their hands, a couple mimick blasting with an invisible blaster, and they follow that up with a genuine-appearing, but brief applause.

They circle round you three, clapping you each on the back and jostling you maybe kind of friendly-like?

And they grunt and squeal to each other and you, a couple display some bleeding wounds, one wipes blood from the snout of another, slinging the red-mucousy mixture to the floor, some swipe at the blood from their mouths - wiping it on each other. One even wipes theirs on Cevron!

They tug at your robes and grunt and squeal and beckon you each to show your moves and flex...

Oct 1, 2025 9:16 am
It takes all his training to not show disgust as one of the Gamorreans wipe their blood on his padawan robes. "I'm assuming this is some kind of custom?" Cevron asks. While the day has taken a mental toll on Cevron, he has no visible wounds to show or wipe. Luckily, he thinks to himself.
Oct 1, 2025 2:00 pm
As Cevron thinks of his lack of wounds, he notices that the others that get blood wiped upon them also do not have any wounds...
Oct 2, 2025 7:49 pm
Kolibri just shrugs "Could be. Although, without any recent blood of your own, I don't think you have a part to play. Other than admiree"
Oct 3, 2025 4:29 pm
"Well guess that should teach me to better read up on customs before our missions," Cevron says. He finally takes Barouk up on his order to relax, and finds the first place to sit. The day has taken its mental toll and he hadn't realized how tired he was until right now.

@crazybirdman since you missed the encounter please record 2 Conflict for Kolibri, which is the average of the amount these two accumulated during the encounter.
As you go to try to relax a bit, the Gamorreans follow you.

Once they realize you're not going to engage with them in re-enacting the fight or mimicking lightsaber moves, or whatever it is they wanted, they switch to another puzzling behavior that wasn't in your mission primer...

A Gamorrean guard comes up to each of you, addressing you with a series of grunts and squeals. As they do so, they lift up their arms, and this motion reveals... something... some sort of mollusk or annelid-type creature, crawling upon or perhaps attached to the flesh of their sides, beneath their arms!

They each have anywhere from 5 to 8 of the things under there..

Each of the guards then plucks one of the things from their skin, and they hold it out to you.

They thrust it at you, a couple of times, as if to say; "Here, you take it.", also keeping one arm aloft where they then tap the creature held in their finger tips to their flesh, as if to show you what to do with it.

Several other guards look on.

I will spend the Threats on a narrative effect.
As Kolibri takes it in his fingers he can smell a sickly sweet stink emanating from the tiny creature, and he thinks he recognizes it as something called a "morrt".

It's a species of slug-like parasites native to the planet Gamorr.

He recalls that warrior Gamorreans will purposefully place the parasites on their bodies because they release a... chemical or stimulant... which makes the host stronger, as long as the parasite is attached!

Indeed, they are status symbol amongst the warrior class. The more morrts that a Gamorrean can host, the more prestigious! (And presumably the stronger they are.)
Oct 7, 2025 8:14 pm
Kolibri hold the little creature up, with a gesture of 'thanks', as he explains to the others how the critters are supposed to work. He stalls hoping he can get away with not attaching the creature.
Oct 7, 2025 9:09 pm
OOC:
As it should factor into your decision making (again, not using it as a "Gotchya!"), taking on one or more of the parasites will give you 1 Conflict (Any of you ever read the Bane trilogy!? :P), but it will also have a mechanical bonus...

Also, maybe you hear in the back of your mind the Master's repeated assertion that you're here as diplomat's ;)
Oct 8, 2025 7:05 am
Another strange custom Cevron thinks until Kolibri explains it. When he knows what they are, he takes one and smiles and nods in what he hopes is a placating measure. He takes the small creature under his robe and pretends to attach it, while instead placing it securely in an inside pocket. Hopefully this will look like he has attached it and placate the Gamorreans.

The Gamorrean standing before him picks it up and just kind of chuckles and grunts and squeals something while holding the parasite in one hand and mimicking pinching it with the other while holding it up to his skin to show the proper technique for applying them.

Then he holds it back out expectantly to the phylodon.

Oct 8, 2025 5:17 pm
OOC:
@valdattaMadun there is a Gamorrean offering/expecting Miica to take a slug too.

Kolibri also.
Oct 8, 2025 6:30 pm
Miica alarmed at the offering, attempts to shake his head politely at the Gamorrean. As the insist on it Miica puts his hand out in a gesture of wait. Slowly pulls out his lightsaber, unlit, and holds it in his open palm. He gestures in a way of saying "look" and then he takes steps back.

With plenty of space around him, he holds his lightsaber out in his hands open palmed. He makes his saber float in the air a bit using the force, before grabbing it and igniting it, slowly taking a classic Soresu stance, methodical and ritualistic. This is the classic positions taught beginners. The humming of the lightsaber peacefully filling the air.
OOC:
My attempt here would be sort of a refusal but my own offering of a demonstration of technique. Almost shifting the topic more away from the slugs and their traditions to ours. Then he feels something like sandpaper rubbing against his skin for a brief few moments before there's a pinch! And after that... he quickly feels a rather euphoric sensation that goes beyond just an end to the momentary uncomfortableness...

The Gamorrean meanwhile claps him on the back and squeal-grunts a cheer, and then promptly plucks off another of the parasites and offers it to him.

...

Meanwhile, the guard standing before Kolibri just kind of grumbles and makes a dismissive hand gesture at Kolibri, sullenly re-attaching the creature to his own body. It walks away in a huff.

The Gamorrean is delighted and it attracts a couple other guards who also offer up morrts to the phylodon. They begin a rhythmic gutteral squeal-chant-like thing as they gather around him.

After attaching the second he politely try to decline any more. His physology is different and he tries to explain. "I have smaller armpits than you," he says futilely, also pointing to his armpits, though what meaning they take from it he has no idea. "Less room."

There is clearly a jockular level of disappointment once Cevron declines further morrt, but they are still very pleased with the two he now hosts, and they continue to clap him on the back and jostle him good-naturedly.

You can spend that Advantage if you'd like? (Recover Strain? Add Boost? Trivial narrative effect?)
The guard just kind of hangs his head and walks away once he realizes Miica won't take on his parasite.

The others see this too and while Cevron gets one more clap on the back and an awkward attempt at a handshake (perhaps the Gamorrean trying to replicate the gesture he has seen from Core Worlds), all the guards leave the Jedi contingent to themselves.

After a bit, the Master returns, smiling a weak, fake smile to you all, and she says, "Eh, so ... we are to continue on with the proceedings as planned. Tour. Meet and greet. Quarters. The Accord begins tomorrow.

But... umm... there is a matter I must attend to first.

So, one of the last things I said before exiting our shuttle, after you all had spotted signs of trouble was to not engage any hostiles... One of the last commands I gave you...
"
OOC:
emsquared says:
IC Thread - July 11, 2025
"Do Not Engage Hostiles! I repeat: Do. Not. Engage!

Defend yourselves, if it comes to it - but NO killing!!

Defend our Gamorrean State reps, if it comes to it!!
"
"Well, it has come to my attention - through our Gamorrean counterparts - the one or more of you wielded your lightsabers against the Gamorrean insurgents... resulting in the death of at least one insurgent...

One of the clans is using this to try to rally the other clans against the Accord, which ... well, if successful, would result in a complete failure of our Mission - no Gamorrean troops for the Republic, and no visit to the Temple of Carnuss Gorgol.
"

She pauses to judge the impact of the weight of her words, also providing an opportunity for you to speak, if you wish.
Oct 15, 2025 12:36 am
While Kolibri isn't worried for himself, he doesn't wield a lightsaber after all, his teams reputation, and the mission were still at stake. "Everything moved so fast. Did this actually happen, or are we being falsely acused?"
Oct 15, 2025 8:45 am
Cevron's head hangs in shame, he is unable to meet the master's look. "It was self defense," he says lamely, knowing that while it was self defense, he probably had other methods that would be less lethal.
Oct 15, 2025 4:15 pm
The Master nods along with both responses.

"It happened, Specialist. They have purported witnesses, and the body and the wounds from a Lightsaber are ... rather difficult to create in any other way.

That said, I have no way of knowing if what I'm about to say is true, and... such a level of artifice would seem... uncharacteristic of Gamorreans, but...

Certain things I heard during my discussion with the Matron, as well as the SPEED with which the issue emerged? It rather leads me to believe that this was PLANNED by someone.

Likely the clan that raised the issue, who is the only clan coming into the Accord protesting the alliance.

But... the public were scanned for technological weapons. Those grenades should not have been able to get inside. So they either came from the inside, or someone allowed them in through one of the check points.

We were set up. Someone tried to goad us into going too far. And we did.

That is behind us now. Do not beat yourself up over this, Padawan Talith. You both rescued the other diplomats, and as I hear, likely saved the lives of numerous bystanders a couple of different times, through the chaos!

You performed as Jedi should.

And we'll work on your soldiering.
", she smiles softly, trying to lighten the mood some.
Oct 15, 2025 10:51 pm
"Are we to stay on task master? Or do we investigate the lapses in Gamorrean security?" Kolibri ask, wondering where they were headed next.
Oct 16, 2025 11:22 am
Cevron seems to brighten from Master Barouk's words. He remains silent though, only accepting master Barouk's words with a nod.
Oct 16, 2025 2:23 pm
"Again, investigation into this matter is not our place here, Specialist.

We will proceed as planned. We are not here as a policing force, we are here as diplomats. This suspicion should certainly inform our actions. But, I informed the Matron of my suspicions, and it is She who will have to investigate it further if and as she sees fit.

It is our job to establish relationships and show the Gamorreans trust, and that the Republic is relatable and understands them, and can be trusted. Speaking of which, I hope you have been getting on well with their warriors?

All that said...

The aggrieved Clan is demanding punishment for the life taken.
"

The Master opens the side of her armored robes revealing the hanger for her lightsaber, empty.

"I must command you to relinquish your lightsabers."
Oct 17, 2025 6:42 am
"What?" Cevron exclaims a little louder than he expected.

He takes a moment to compose himself. "Sorry," he says. "Who will we surrender them to? What insurences do we have that they will be safe? If security is so lax as to allow this whole situation, how can we be sure they won't end up in the wrong hands?"
Oct 17, 2025 3:58 pm
Kolibri understand the groups frustration. "I know this doesn't affect me as much, but surely we should follow the Master's lead here?"
Oct 18, 2025 12:56 am
OOC:
@valdattaMadun haven't heard from you much this week. Would love to have you in this interaction
Oct 21, 2025 3:13 pm
The Master nods, " Fair questions, Padawan. I will formally, publicly turn them over to the Matron, but she has assured me they will be delivered to my quarters afterward. Following that... they could remain there, our quarters are in a secure part of the Citadel meant for members of the Court and dignitaries, or I could have them stored in our shuttle if that would make you feel better about it?

We just can't be seen with them until, well...

It would only be until the Accord has been signed. A day or two, maybe three at the most.
"
Oct 22, 2025 7:11 am
Cevron composes himself and takes out his own lighsaber and hands it over silently. Inside he's in conflict, he thinks about all the time it took to make it and make himself deserve it. Another thought takes over and that is that he should explore why the thought of giving it up has such a visceral feeling.
Oct 22, 2025 2:08 pm
She collects Miica and Furmyr's lightsabers, "Thank you, Padawan.

Now... you are free to carry other weapons. Any "secondary" weapon by their custom, which, to a Jedi, is basically anything that's not a lightsaber! I think what whomever-our-shadowy-adversary-is really achieved here is depriving us of perhaps our most powerful symbol - and thereby, they might hope, the perception of our strength.

Let's show them otherwise, hm? That we are still capable and strong allies!

There are inventory blasters, and stun batons, and vibro-knives on the shuttle. Feel free to collect whatever armaments from there that you wish.

If you wish.

Because of course our true power lies in the Force. Let's not let our unknown adversary defeat us!

We can - and will - still accomplish our mission.
"
Oct 22, 2025 7:39 pm
Kolibri is starting to see why Barouk was made a Jedi Master. Their words are inspiring, and fill him with optimism about their mission.
Oct 23, 2025 9:12 am
Cevron feels emboldened by Master Barouk's words. "Let's hope we will not need it," Cevron says, opting to take a stun baton from the shuttle.
Oct 23, 2025 6:18 pm
The rest of the day proceeds more or less as described just a bit earlier by the Master, and as was originally planned, for your diplomatic visit.

You are all given a tour of the Citadel, which is a combination of head-of-state residence for the Matron and her family, and direct members of her government, as well as a military fortress and installation, with barracks and operational headquarters and all.

The building is an odd mix of ancient stones and timbers, skillfully crafted, and archaic technology - hinges doors most everywhere in the interior, not a lift in sight, etc , retrofitted with semi-modern accoutrement and facilities for communications and security and things.

Following on the heels of the tour, there is a formal meet-and-greet for you all, as well as a few Clone commanders. After which you are each shown to what will be your quarters, for the duration of the stay. All of you are in close proximity to each other.

And following upon that you have a couple hours to yourselves before there is to be a state dinner, which you are all to attend.

And as mentioned, the formal meetings and events of the Accord are to begin tomorrow.
OOC:
Is there anything any of you would like to do before we basically end this day, and move on?
Oct 23, 2025 6:58 pm
Kolibri will ask about local plant life, and then if he's allowed, find the nearest garden and meditate there for a while before dinner.
Oct 24, 2025 8:13 am
Cevron spends the hour before the state dinner to get cleaned up, the day has taken a lot out of him and he was sure people could smell that fact from him. He'd forgotten about the small larvas and finally had the opportunity to dispose of them.

Once he felt presentable, he joins the dinner. Trying to keep up with any discussion. Once he's back in his quarters again he will try to get some rest before the next crisis rears its ugly head.
Oct 28, 2025 5:47 pm
Kolibri may find it difficult to talk in depth with a Gamorrean about the topic, due to their inability to produce the sounds necessary for Galactic Basic, but at the very least he can be directed to a holo-net database on the topic.

Some of the more interesting examples are the coolsap tree - a native species to the jungle of Gamorr which produces a sap with thermodynamic properties such that it was used as a coolant in the engines is early starships. The gorgt-tree - an important plant culturally due to it's very dense wood, which is used in the construction of both their structures and their weaponry. And a fungus called snoruuk mushrooms, which are mobile and used as a food stuff by some Gamorrean tribes as they are able to be "herded" like an animal.

Ultimately he finds there are no gardens within the Citadel, but the Matron does have a dedicated forest and hunting grounds which abuts to the stronghold, and he could gain access to that.
OOC:
@Furmyr Plucking the morrts off will cause 2 Wounds (1 for each as it is removed, taking a small chunk of flesh with it).
The state dinner is perhaps an interesting affair for the Core Worlders. You find there is very little meat on the menu (for better or worse)! The core of their palette seems to be based around fungi. You've never seen so many kinds of fungi preparation! Roasted and dry, pickled and slimy, and everything in between. There are also root vegetables, nuts, and fruits, and something that you think could most closely be considered a bread, that while it is clearly suited for Gamorrean tusks and wide blunt teeth, you find it would surely break your teeth to try to bite through it.

Other than that the evening passes without incident, and you are able to retire to your quarters.

After the dinner, the Master let's you know that your lightsabers are stored on the shuttle, and that the vessel can be accessed by your normal means (badge) at any time...

Lastly, there are a whole slew of cultural events taking place tomorrow, which the Master encourages you to choose one to participate in:

Pod races, either as an observer, or as she understands it, ad hoc participants are welcomed as well.

A multi-clan group-hunt, which consists of an excursion into the swamps and mountains near the Citadel.

And the meal preparations for the various communal meals to occur during the Accord. During which there are various cultural events put on by various clans for the meal-preparers.
Oct 29, 2025 10:16 am
Cevron wakes up early the next morning, feeling refreshed and ready to meet the new day. He looks at the itinerary and takes an interest in both the hunt and watching the podraces. He's not a skilled pilot so while he contemplates joining in, he thinks better of it, realizing it would probably end with him wrecking a pod needlessly. Watching pods is exciting, but not as exciting as exploring the swamps and going on an actual hunt. His mind is settled.
OOC:
Will choose to join the hunt.
Oct 29, 2025 4:23 pm
Kolibri is pleasantly surprised with how little meat is served. It's not that he doesn't eat meat, there's just so many more flavor combinations available with vegetables. He greatly enjoys the selection of fungi and tries his best to note his favorites.
He lets the master know that he feels he can best help the mission by going along on the hunt.
Oct 30, 2025 5:26 pm
OOC:
Strain recovers completely over night. And you also recover 1 Wound with a night's rest (for Cevron's morrt Wounds).
You wake and have the ability to get rations from your shuttle, or there is a "mess hall" in the Citadel that is preparing and has Gammorrean-style food available basically constantly. If you pursue that option, you find that their morning meal is much the same as their dinner, except more heavily weighted towards pickled and spiced fungi.

Master Barouk is sitting in on official talks and negotiations all day, and so you're pretty much entirely left to your own devices as a diplomat and representative of the Galactic Republic, aside from a small detachment of Clone Troopers that accompanies you.

You are also accompanied by an old SP-model protocol droid, a bit over a meter tall, as you both find your way to the bay where transport for the Hunt is arranged. There is a gathering of Gamorreans, many wielding spiked clubs and atl-atl spear throwing devices, and others carrying a bag with... something in it... and nets with weighted corners.

Initially they're all just milling about, socializing, and a couple gamorreans seen to recognize you two from the previous evening as they come up and grunt and make lightsaber form gestures, one of them pointing to Cevron and lifting his arm to tap his armpit area, giving him an awkward-looking thumbs up.
Oct 30, 2025 6:20 pm
Kolibri ask the protocol droid; "I assume you are here to help us with translation? Unless you are a hunter droid?" He adds with a smile.
OOC:
any clones coming on the hunt?
Oct 31, 2025 7:18 am
Cevron gives a thumb up back, but don't reveal his now morrt-less pits, luckily well covered by his robes. The skin still stings from where he had to rip them off. "So what are we hunting?" he asks anyone willing to listen, counting on the droid to translate his words.
Nov 4, 2025 5:57 pm
The droid orient's it's optical sensors on Kolibri, then rotate it's body to do the same, and says, "Good morning, visitor.", it buzzes with electronic processing noises, "My programming enables me to facilitate translation, communication, cultural protocol, and limited domestic animal commands.

I am unfortunately not equipped with implements or programming to facilitate harm or violence to any life form.
"

It rotates back to a neutral position, before turning to Cevron.

"Good morning.

My holo-data records indicate that today's hunt is to focus upon for-sport harvest of Quizzer beasts.

Particular honor is to be brought upon the group which is able to harvest the most Quizzers before sun-set.
"

Again it returns to a neutral facing, as you hear gears whirr and electronics buzz in post processing.
Nov 4, 2025 11:37 pm
"Ah, so it's a competition then? Is it allowed by the rules, and culturally acceptable, to use our skills with the Force during this hunt? If so, perhaps my ally and I should be on separate teams?" After a quick screech from the Rawwk, Kolibri adds "As long as this little one is with me of course."
Nov 5, 2025 9:47 am
"That would be a competition worthy of epic tales," Cevron says with a smile. "The loser takes the winners cleaning duties along with their own for the return journey?"

Instead of waiting for a reply he quickly adds a question to the droid. "What can you tell us about Quizzer beasts?"
Nov 5, 2025 5:31 pm
The little droid makes a buzzing sound that almost sounds like a grunt - Nnnnggt, "Biological classification and phenotypic description is not within my programming.

My apologies, sir.
"
Nov 5, 2025 7:26 pm
"Curious . . . uhm, do you have a designation, or a name? What can you tell us about the hunt? When do we leave? Has it started already? I'm afraid we are dreadfully unprepared here." Kolibri says, taking this all much more seriously now the cleaning duties are on the line.
Nov 5, 2025 9:20 pm
There's a couple of rapid, almost joyful beeps, as the little droid is clearly within his wheelhouse with these questions and he launches into a rather text-book sounding and dryly delivered explanation in his metallic, rough little voice.

"Certainly. I am an SP model 4ST protocol droid. You can call me Forest.

Such a hunt as this is a common tradition for separate Gamorrean tribes to engage in together, in an attempt to build good will with each other. This is in addition to practices such as marrying off sons to each other and gifts of snorruk-mushroom herds.

The hunt is engaged in against Quizzers, which is a mutual pest species amongst nearly all Gamorreans. Common hunt tactics include stalk-and-surprise, scare-and-surround, setting traps using shiny objects and/or nets, and also chopping down trees to either expose or make more accessible large groups of Quizzer at once. At which point death is administered through the use of a bludgeoning weapon - such as the traditional Gamorrean Thogk, or a bladed weapon - such as the arg'garok, as well as thrown spears or javelins.

However the Quizzer is an intelligent and nimble creature, which as my programming indicates, can make it difficult to kill for those reasons.

The tribe or group which brings back the most Quizzers, by count, whether adult or young, and which shall be ceremonially displayed before the evening meal, is the winner!

In this context, the reward for victory would primarily be an emotional one - such as pride and/or bragging rights. However, in certain cultural context or negotiations, could become an implement for use as status or power within Gamorrean society.
"

The little droid buzzes and whirrs for a moment, processing, before continuing.

"The Matron's primary mate, Warlord Burloz, should soon begin with a rousing speech, designed to excite and encourage his fellow Gamorreans for the coming slaughter. After which, the representatives of the clans will divide their hunters into groups, and you will all venture off into the Gamorrean wilderness, via shuttle at first, then upon foot, so that you may find your prey and begin killing.

If you ingratiate yourselves to one or more of the tribes, I am certain you would be armed by them with the appropriate implements of death.
"
Nov 5, 2025 10:06 pm
"Well thank you, Forest. That information is most helpful." He looks up to the rawwk on it's perch "Looks like you will be scouting today little one."
Nov 6, 2025 1:08 pm
Cevron tries to stand close to Forest. If the rousing speech is performed in Gamorrean he'll need the translation droid. Still he stands there scanning the crowd, trying to recognize one of the soldiers they met yesterday. He'll fairly certain he'll be able to convince one of them to give him a traditional weapon.
Nov 6, 2025 6:09 pm
The guards who recognized you earlier, from the previous evening, are still nearby. And upon engaging with them again, you find that they are more than happy to collect an assortment of weapons from those around them who have extra.

Soon the Warlord launches into his speech, pacing about atop the hull and wings of a heavily armored and garishly painted transport.

Forest provides a translation that, although you have no doubt as to it's technical accuracy, completely lacks the kinetic movement and emotion you can hear in Burloz's voice.

His tinny voice rattles, "Clans of Gamorr.

Blood of the tusk and roar of the boar.

Hear me.

The thieving Quizzers await us. They watch from the shadows with wary eyes, chattering their tricks, thinking they are smarter than Gamorreans.

They believe their cunning will protect them.

Hah.

Cunning does not stop the arg'garok.

On this hunt, we show them that cunning is nothing before our fury. We will crash through their cherished trees, tear down their perches, and paint the forest with their stinking blood.

Raise your arg'garok. Sharpen your tusks. Let the Quizzers see what happens when the clans of Gamorr hunt together. When we roar, the jungle cowers. When we strike, their cleverness dies with their scream.

Now— we huuunnnnnnt.
"

He buzzes with post-processing, as Gamorreans begin to pile onto transports.
Nov 6, 2025 6:56 pm
Kolibri says "Again, thank you Forest. I suppose we will see you upon our return." before looking around and trying to figure out where he is supposed to go.

Cevron can hear the warlord's words and wish he could understand the language so he wouldn't have to listen to Forest's translation. Still he can feel the power in the words, and in a way he feels emboldened by them despite not understanding. Anyone could take some lessons from the warlord in how to command a room (or a field in this case). At least until the line about Quizzers thinking themseleves smarter than Gamorreans.

Cevron's brow furrows and he leans over to Kolibri. "Are they having us hunting sentient creatures?" he asks with a whisper.
Nov 7, 2025 8:51 pm
Kolibri shrugs "We wont know until we get closer to one, but that would certainly complicate things wouldn't it? I'm sure the Master would tell us to 'remember the mission'. We will simply have to trust that the Force will guide us."

OOC:
Cevron would probably be aware that unnecessary destruction of... anything, animate or inanimate, as will as "cruelty" to animals (or droids), sentient or not, is generally frowned upon by the Jedi.

You can see this reflected in the Conflict Table in the OOC Resources Thread.
Gamorreans begin to pile into transports, a small detachment of the Clone Troopers will go with you to the site but will not venture out on the hunt with you - they are not allowed to interact with the Gamoereans in a diplomatic capacity. Forest also boards a transport, but also says that he will not be going out on the actual hunt, as he is unlikely to be able to navigate the natural, wild terrain.
Nov 10, 2025 8:58 pm
Cevron gets a sinking feeling in his stomach. He is starting to think it would have been better to stay back in town and watch some racing instead. For this reason he remains laconic for most of the journey. If asked he excuses himself and says he'd like to meditate before the hunt.

We're at the point where everyone else is getting on. You don't have to get on.
Nov 11, 2025 6:40 pm
OOC:
He'll still get on. Just have a sinking feeling. He's afraid that to back down suddenly will look bad on the Jedi, so will probably subtly sabotage the hunt should they indeed be sentient beings.

I don't want to do any level of hand-holding that is unwelcome, so let me know if this is over stepping, but with a rank in Xenology, Kolibri would know whether or not he knows anything about Quizzers (and the only way WE can know as players if the character knows anything is to roll the dice).
Nov 11, 2025 9:02 pm
OOC:
oh yeah, thanks for the reminder. I was thinking of using his talents and force powers when we got closer, but no harm rolling now to see what he knows.
As they board the transports, Kolibri pauses to think what he knows enough about the local fauna. Maybe he can help assage his allies concerns

Yeesh, angry dice there.

Ok, sounds like everyone is at least literally on-board (the transports), I'll push us forward to the beginning of the hunt.

May not have a post up until tomorrow tho.
Nov 12, 2025 5:15 pm
As the transports rumble and lift off packed with bodies, perhaps the most salient thing that you notice here which hasn't been as noticeable before, is that ... Gamorreans have very different personal hygiene standards ... from what might be more common in the Inner Core.

The trip is a relatively short one though, 10 minutes or so, and you soon land in a small, clear-cut field amongst an otherwise dense, but low, jungle canopy.

Upon disembarking, you see there is a small building, possibly some sort of military outpost based on it's appearance, at the fringe of the clear cut area.

There is some hubbub as the Gamorreans organize themselves into smaller hunting bands, which Forest translates for you as it goes along.

You're welcome to either each of you go with a different band, or stay together with the both of you going with a single band.
Nov 13, 2025 10:24 am
"I know I joked about a competition," Cevron whispers to Kolibri. "But I have a bad feeling, I think we should stick together for this one."
Nov 13, 2025 8:55 pm
"Agreed. Best if we look out for each other while we are out there." Kolibri replies.
Nov 19, 2025 5:20 pm
OOC:
Alright, do you guys want to go with a group that has Gamorreans you already "know" from the previous day? Or a new, unknown group?
As you disembark, a humid, windless heat hits your skin and breath, as well as an earthy - but not unpleasant - smell of plant aromatics and the natural and healthy process of plant-decay that underlies everything in an ecosystem like this.

After the hiss of the doors and the roar of the shuttle engines subside, the sound of insects and distant animal squawks and hoots fills the ebbing silence.

The area is one that has been clear-cut a long time ago, and you can see at it's fringes that the forest is fighting to reclaim the area with tall ferns and shrubs and dangling vines obscuring the boundary between clearing and wilderness.

The Warlord is again speaking, this time with the aid of his shuttle's loudspeakers to overcome the ambient cacophony, and Forest translates. The speech is just oriented toward coordinating hunting grounds and time-lines, so that all groups know where they can and should be, and by what time they should return to the clearing, for their results to count in the competition.

After that, the groups each begin trudging off into the... jungle, you think is the closest word for the kind of forest this is. And this where First bids you farewell, as he doubts his ability to navigate the terrain. Once you breech the natural shroud of plant-life that hems in the clearing, you find there is little undergrowth beneath the canopy - except for large fungi growths. The ground is uneven, with rocky protrusions here and there, and most of the surface you walk upon is squishy. Water pools quickly in your footsteps, but is just as quickly re-absorbed by the ..."soil" (which is characterized by some sure of thin-stranded, tangle ground-cover that almost looks more like coarse hair than any plant you're familiar with.
OOC:
In addition to the above question, please consider which implements you would select from the Gamorreans - club, axe, javelin, net, trapping gear.

Also, one or both of you could make a Xenoligy check to see how communications with Gamorreans for here for awhile.
Nov 20, 2025 10:07 am
Cevron sticks close to the Gamorreans he already recognize from the day before, so when they are divided up into groups he'll at least be on familiar terms. He happily take a net and a couple of javelins.

He tries to keep at the back of the group, letting the local experts lead the way. He tries to follow their instructions as well as he can, but there is definitively a language barrier there.

Kolibri takes a net, and follows Cevron's lead for now. Sticking with the slightly more familiar Gamorreans seems wise. Once there is some distance between them and the other groups, Kolibri reaches out with the force to see what other living things he can feel in the area.
OOC:
Kolibri still has his shockprod, correct? that wasn't taken with the lightsabers? Just verifing since it adds one point to the Sense check

Sense

1 Black Force Point

Nov 20, 2025 8:29 pm
OOC:
Yea, you still have your prod if you want it.

Although in the process of finding the full book description of the item, to make sure we got the Force power feature right, I did read that Findsman Prods are unique to their maker like a Lightsaber. And they can only rarely be bought on the black market and generally only get there through nefarious means (which doesn't seem to match up to it's Rarity designation), if you're not a Gand Findsman.

So what this means is two (or three) fold:

1. If a Findsman ever sees you with it, they will not be happy about you having it.

2. They are highly identifiable as a possession. They would be recognizable to authorities (as something unique and identifying, not necessarily as a Findsman prod), like a tattoo might be useable to identify people.

3. Your character probably went to a Black Market and bought an alternate Force tradition's signature weapon, knowing that it probably came off of a dead m member of that Tradition.

Sorry I didn't look into this earlier. Just looked at the relatively low cost and the Rarity which is 100% allowable under standard character creation rules, and didn't think too much more about it until now.

3. ... if you want to weave some alternate narrative about how you got it, that's fine if you can make it make sense, but 1 and 2 are non-negotiable.
Nov 20, 2025 8:53 pm
OOC:
🤔 Can't really think of a good reason he would have it then, especially as a Jedi Service Corps member. Maybe he intents to return it if he finds the owner? But that seems like an obligation mechanic type thing
Nov 21, 2025 2:45 am
OOC:
I mean, maybe he doesn't know about the Findsmen, and just bought it becuz he could sense it's attachment to the Force?

That doesn't change 1 or 2, if either ever comes into play. But it could explain how/why he has it without putting him in a bad light. And just might provide some fodder for drama down the road?
Nov 21, 2025 5:28 am
OOC:
I do like drama. Let's go with that. The wand chose the wizard, then the Rawwk chose it as a perch
Nov 21, 2025 4:16 pm
OOC:
Ok, so you have your Findsman stick, I'm assuming you want to use the force point to fuel the Sense Power (do you also wish to use the dark pip you generated?).

This is what you can get through the basic power:
Kolibri reaches out with Force and he feels it flowing through him, he also feels it flowing through the living things near him.

There is ofc Cevron and the Gamorreans, but there is more than that. So much more. This strange fungus jungle teems with life. He senses a few creatures below ground level, they must burrow within the strange coarse and tangled fiber substrate, or be submerged in the waters or muddy soil of pooled water.

And he can also sense life in the canopy above. No doubt the origin of the squawks and hoots.

...

Cevron finds that he's picking up the words of the Gamorreans decently well, the few guards whom you're all familiar with from the previous evening must be simplifying their speech or slowing down and over-pronouncing their grunts and squeals. Or perhaps the primer was just somewhat useful.

Between gestures and one word directions, you get the impression that they're going to start by laying down some traps. Placing polished bits of metal on the ground, along with some snares, and then signaling that a net or javelin can be used if any Quizzer come for the bait (the shiny things). Those who choose to lie in wait can cover themselves with camouflaged cloths.
OOC:
I know you guys have raised some questions regarding the intelligence level of the Quizzer, is there anything you'd like to do to try to diagnose that? Or you can go ahead and put together a narrative, and roll when you're ready, wrt how you'd like to help (or hindering was also mentioned?) the hunt.

Kolibri, your use of Force Sense doesn't give much specific information at the basic level, but it could certainly help locate potential prey, if you're wondering what you can really "get out of it".

Basically boost dice to checks to spot things. Or ofc other creative uses you can think of.
Nov 21, 2025 7:26 pm
Cevron is talking a little louder than he would during a hunt under the pretense of making himself understood, and generally trying to make a little more sound than he otherwise would. Not enough to make the other Gamorreans suspicious, but to hopefully maybe drive away prey.

Got it, but I don't want to risk using the darkside point for more info. I'd like to commit the force die to scout via the rawwk, so no force powers for a while. Lemme know if that's not how it works.
Kolibri tries making gestures to explain that he is going to send his pet to look around. Then he connects with the rawwk through the Force, directing it to fly in the general direction he assumes the quizzers will come from. Hopefully he can get an idea of what they are dealing with ahead of time.

Lucien, meanwhile decided to devote his time to looking in on the pod races, and if he had time, later, he would check into the meal preparations and the cultural affairs happening there. His goals were to observe and see what he could pick up by being a witness to what was happening before him, hoping to be a quick study to Gamorr and the Gamorreans and ultimately the mission at hand.

I cannot fail Master, was the thought that passed through Lucien's mind, hoping he would prove himself as indispensable as the rest of the party Master Barouk brought along to accomplish the objectives here. Learning and Diplomacy...our mission, and Lucien aimed to position himself both in a place to learn and to be a diplomat. Still, after the confrontation before, it seemed like there was a possibility the Diplomacy was going to be challenged in ways Master was not hoping for.
Dec 2, 2025 9:07 pm
Cevron tries his ploy of being a bit loud without seeming to intend to be disruptive and it largely works! While after the first few times, the Gamorreans do begin to become uncomfortable with it, they don't get upset or even aggressively silence him. They do make quieting gestures and start to cut him off when his words drag on - and he can sense he's on the edge of social acceptability, but... he gets away without notice for now.
OOC:
I will use the Threats to Strain you 2.
Meanwhile, Kolibri has sent his rawwk into the air to see what can be seen through the eyes of his bonded animal-friend... He quickly finds that the canopy is too thick from above for the scouting to be productive via that method, and so the flight must be made lower - within the branches that hold up the leafy ceiling overhead.
OOC:
Going to make a kind of "luck roll" to see what happens to be in the direction the rawwl first flies...

Depending on what that roll yields (i.e. if it's anything other than a net-failure), you'll need to put together some sort of skill check for the scouting.
...

Back closer to the Citadel, Lucien goes to watch the pod-races.

The Gamorreans have an entire complex devoted to the sport. It has stadium seating for many thousands of observers which line the starting point (which is also the finish line), it has service bays for the racers and their pods, and towering above it all is an indoor area with further observational seating, as well as holo-screens to broadcast the entire race, and an area for gambling.

As Lucien enters the complex grounds, he's of course rather quickly recognized as a Jedi and while many just stare in wonderment, a small group of 3 Gamorreans approach him, apparently eager to interact with the odd intergalactic traveler.

They grunt and squeal excited introductions, and - if his mission primer did him any service - he believes they offer him food and drink (although they have none on their persons).

How would you like to spend it? There are the mechanical options (recover strain, add a Boost to next allied check), or you could get some sort of narrative boon (I have something in mind, tho you could propose your own as well).
Dec 2, 2025 10:08 pm
I guess I'm as worthy a sight as the racers, Lucien noted the attention. He searched within the Force trying to shelter himself from the eyes, and to make himself feel less observed among the other beings, but his mastery simply isn't there. At least he can feel a current of least resistance.

He's on reconnaissance as much as he's here to just take in the sights and the sounds among the crowds, and there is probably a strategy and method among the madness, but first he had to deal with the Gammoreans that had approached him and came with tidings of offering food and drink.

Well, I'm here to be a good sport, a diplomat, and learn. What's the saying? When in Coruscant...

He gestured to the Gammoreans in a gesture of acceptance.

"Food and drink? Yes, I'll come take a sample of what you may have," he said kindly to the excited trio, hoping to allay any overeagerness that might turn into a crowd rush.

Perhaps taking in some of the more casual fare offered at the track would steel his stomach for the more formal affairs later.

OOC:
So, you don't get to pick what check the Boost applies to if you're using it for the mechanical Boost - or rather, it requires 2 net Advantage to get to choose who it goes to. With 1, it just goes to the next allied check.

That said, seems like understanding the Quizzers is probably of utmost importance to both of your future involvement/actions, so let's see if we can resolve that issue...

Please put together a narrative and a pool to try to find some Quizzers. It can use the Rawwk's stats, if physical, or your stats, if mental. And if mental, you can use whomever's relevant skill is highest between the two of you.

Athletics/Coordination (really just digging in and getting deep into the foliage)? Survival? X enology? Perception? Something else?

Also, since the Gamorreans have taken you to a place where they know/expect to find some, add a Boost to the check - in addition to the one from the luck roll.
Individual Gamorreans begin breaking off from your main group, to set and monitor traps, to start using "calls" (the metallic jingling cans), while others continue on to stalk and look for roosts.

...

At the pod races, the Gamorreans take Lucien up into the structure which towers over the pod race starting/finish line, which also towers above all the surrounding landscape and structures, with the exception of the Citadel (whose central keep is the taller).
OOC:
@PlebeianG I don't know if you read the IC thread to catch this, but you do not have your Lightsaber at this time. One of the other Jedi used their Lightsaber to kill a Gamorrean during the Dissident attack, and an opposed Gamprrean faction used that to demand that you all be disarmed as a consequence.

Also, you can choose to have some Clone Troopers accompanying you, if you would like. In fact there are definitely some that come along with you, unless you specifically command them to not come with you...
The three chatter at you in their grunts and squeals - largely too fast and informal for you to fully pick up on the meaning of - but they also make gestures, mimicking lightsaber swings and Force thrusts and things as you all walk.

Perhaps they're asking you to demonstrate? Our perhaps they're just enacting the legends they've heard?

Eventually you arrive at the observation deck which over-looks the horizon, and has holo-screens everywhere you look to broadcast the race (there is one that has already begun), as well as bookees for gambling (mostly droids), and several cantina bars serving food and drink.

There are Gamorrean people - most clearly citizens, some either guards or military or otherwise of their warrior-class - everywhere.

The gamorreans head to one of the cantina bars and start ordering.
OOC:
You can make a Xenology check - PPK (P = purple, K = a black die) to try to pick up on what they're saying and ordering, or add another P to try to understand it all.

In addition to whatever else you might want to say or do ofc
Dec 5, 2025 2:29 am
OOC:
Oh yeah, will pass a boost die to the next check then.
Kolibri ask his the rawwk to return. He breaks his bond to talk to Cevron; Couldn't get close enough to see anything. Through the rawwks eyes, I mean. We are getting exceedingly close, and still have no idea what we are dealing with. What's our next move?"
Dec 7, 2025 5:20 pm
Lucien opened his robes and patted at his belt spreading his hands apologetically at the presumably excited Gammoreans, but for show, he somewhat mimicked their pantomime, but put more thought into it, getting into a Niman state of mind and showing off stance and some of the general maneuvers he knew even if his hands were empty, so at the least he could put on a little show of his training to leave the onlookers a little bit sated, before he moved on.

For a people suspicious of Jedi, so far these ones are sold by the mystique of the action. I suppose if they thought I was penetrating their minds with the Force, they would think differently.

Lucien settled down near a holo-screen, and space with a good vantage point over the race so he could observe, and kept an eye on the Gammoreans going over to the cantina bar to order, trying to take it all in, and figure out what he might have coming his way.

@PlebeianG let's take a moment to review the mechanics here.

Every roll and skill check has a "positive"/active side of a pool - this is your Characteristic combined with your Skill, as described in the book and will consist of Greens or Yellows or both, as well as possibly Blues.

And every check also has a "negative"/the difficulty side of the pool. These are determined by me or creature stats. And will consist of People's or Reds or both, as well as blacKs.

So what I directed you on (PPK) was "my half" the difficulty side of the pool.

You need to look at your character sheet and assemble your side/the active side of the pool, based on your Characteristic and Skill, as described in the book.

So please go ahead and add that portion of the pool to your post.

Kolibri nods as he responds to Cevron. "I'll have the rawwk take a closer look as it returns. Be right with you." and he reconnects the bond with his pet. Okay, I apologize if I discouraged you from making a check/rolling. I think I got a little overzealous trying to keep us all on the same page RE: the "procedure"/rules for narrative symbols/read into your post too much.
A couple Gamorreans nearby are at first confused but also fascinated by Kolibri's use of his animal companion.

Having a hunting-beast? They get.

But as he uses the Force to see through the eyes of the rawwk, it becomes obvious that he goes "somewhere else" for a time. Cevron can see the Gamorreans jostle each other and gesture at the Bothan, muttering in slurring grunts to each other as they parse what they think is going on, as their new comrade is mentally displaced, and his eyes flicker, seeing things they cannot see.

To Kolibri, he is navigating the canopy of the fungi-laden jungle. The rawwk deftly scrambling, leaping, and gliding through open spaces in the leafy branches. After some time he catches sight of something through the branches, and due to the rawwks animalian appearance, he is able to get close enough to see some Quizzers.

They are strange looking creatures...
https://i.imgur.com/gh3duOq.png
Reptilian in appearance, at first, he soon realizes though that they are mammalian. You observe them being very social - nesting and congregating nearby each other, grooming each other, chasing each other in apparent play or perhaps very localized territoriality, mature specimen sharing food with young. They communicate through various chirps, barks, and howls, and are intelligent enough at least to use the branches they sit on to smash open fruits or nuts and craft large nests for themselves our of twigs and leaves and things.

And you also know they're apparently attracted to shiny things, based on the gamorrean hunting tactic.

Then... after some time of sitting and observing the quizzers, the rawwk narrowly avoids a strike from a snake-like creature in the tree! Sending it fleeing in panic through the canopy!

The scuffle draws the attention of the quizzers who begin hooting raucously and pelting the reptile with sticks and partially eaten fruits, causing it to leave the area.

The rawwk takes some minor bumps and bruises in it's hurried retreat, but is ultimately able to return to you safely.
OOC:
Using the Threat to Strain the rawwk. However as a Minion-level creature it doesn't have a Strain Threshold and takes this as Wounds.

Kolibri snaps out of his trance in time to coddle the rawwk when it returns. To the gawking Gammoreans he absent-mindedly points in the direction the quizzers he 'saw' were. He tells Cevron all the rawwk experienced. "I can't say for certain if they are sentient, but I also can't say if they deserved to be slaughtered. Let's not do anything to upset the mission just yet." He says with a furrowed brow.
Dec 11, 2025 9:21 pm
OOC:
It's hard to communicate through in-world analogues, cuz there just aren't too many common frames of reference, but I think Kolibri would understand them to be equivalent to the level of intelligence that IRL is something like a lesser primate or a monkey.

Capable of experiencing pain, fear, and other emotions, and smart enough to use simple tools, but probably short of being capable of recognizing itself in a mirror as itself (and not separate creature).

In the Star Wars universe, I think it's mentioned that quizzer are related to lizard-monkeys (i.e. Salacious Crumb). Though I get the impression that Señior Crumb is a bit more intelligent than these things are generally represented as, so... if there are other distinctions that would help you make a decision, let me know what those are, and I can determine if you would have been able to diagnose that.

Hopefully that helps, and...

Dec 12, 2025 5:50 pm
Cevron nods. He's a little at ease that they're not sentient. "Yes. Let's just stick to the background and let them do their thing," Cevron says. "Play it off as giving them the honor. Would think with such a reputation as warriors, they would choose a more... dangerous prey. But maybe looks can be deceiving."

The gamorreans are delighted as Lucien mimes the stance and motions of the Niman form for a moment. A coulple of them quickly drop low into a wide athletic stance, and mime the footwork of their ponderous and powerful vibroaxe-style, in response. And for a moment it's as if they're in an imaginary contactless sparring match.

As the Jedi rises out of it they hoot and grunt and squeal at the little moment of comradery, gripping his shoulders and shaking him and clapping him on the back.

When he sits, even near a window, Lucien can only see a small fraction of the race course - the mile-or-two stretch that is both the start and finish line. Pod racers move very fast, and the courses are famously long and riddled with obstacles, turns, and obstructions to keep things interesting, and so most of the watching of the race must be done through holo-screen.

There is a Gamorrean color-commentator announcing every jockeying-collision, turn, over-taking, and crash in a boisterous voice that, to his human ear, sounds something very much like livestock being slaughtered, it is delivered so urgent and emotionally.

When they return, they're bearing 4 flagons of some drink, and a tray with several small bowls or plates of finger food.

They're talking amongst each other and the jumble of gamorrean tongue makes it impossible to catch everything, but he picks our enough to gather that they're talking about a couple of the pod racing pilots.

They plop a flagon down before him and the tray at the center of you all, they gesture at the spread before Lucien and say something including, "Eat" and "Jedi".
Dec 16, 2025 4:46 pm
Lucien smiled as the food and drink was brought over. Despite not being able to directly understand the Gammoreans, some things were universal. He wondered if his detachment had some kind of translation devices, and he inquired among the troopers, or at least among the highest in command.

"Thank you," Lucien said to the Gammorean bringing the food, as he did not dawdle with the food, and sought to try it, and then wash it down with a pull from the flagon; sampling the local cuisine and seeing what kind of profiles of taste, among other dimensions, it brought.

He kept some of his attention on the holoscreen, trying to work out who was winning, and who was losing the races, and who was favoured and who was put in the races, and what kind of vehicle configurations, and so on might be being piloted from the display. He figured he'd have to rely on visual more than audio, but he did consider how he might match up common sense visual events with translating the commentary from what he was seeing.

Alright, so knowing what you know, I do want to be a little open-handed for Cevron and Kolibri's choices here: actively participating in the hunt/killing would warrant as much as 6-7 Conflict, as per the Conflict table:
https://i.imgur.com/UaO1KoD.png
This is a "sport" hunt, so not necessary for food or anything, and even cruelty/killing of non-sapients does not align with the Light.

But also, I want to draw your attention to "Knowing Inaction". You will take 1 Conflict if you don't try to actively thwart the success of the hunt.

Your choice then ofc is to balance your diplomatic mission with your "values".

You can just stand by and let them hunt, not participate, and take 1 Conflict.

Or you can try to thwart their success, possibly jeopardizing your diplomatic mission of your efforts are noticed, but take no Conflict.

Please put together a narrative, for whichever way you want to go. As well as a check if necessary.
...

Lucien finds the food is similar to the fair that was on offer last night at the state dinner (though much lower quality); mostly fungi and vegetables, but prepared many different ways. There is one bowl that appears to be... something more like twigs, or woody roots, than food! No doubt able to be processed by the great gamorrean teeth and tusks, but he doubts the ability of his human mandibles to handle it.

When he takes a swig from the flagon, he finds it is some... picklely drink - but also definitely alcoholic. Not entirely unpleasant, but just.. different.

As they dive into the food and drink and spectatorship, the gamorreans raise their flagons in a toast, and say something involving "Jedi!!".
Dec 17, 2025 7:47 pm
OOC:
ugh. I think Kolibri won't participate, and wont hinder them, but will help if asked directly. He's already pointed out the quizzers he's seen. He's into nature and all, so can appreciate the circle of life and all that, but as you said, they aren't hunting to survive.
Dec 18, 2025 8:35 am
Cevron hangs back. Trying to indicate that he wants to observe and learn from his new companions without directly participating himself. He feel some guilt over what is happening, but they have a mission, how many lives will ultimately be spared if they succeed in their diplomatic mission.
Dec 19, 2025 6:24 pm
Lucien at least tried all of the food, but for some of the twig-like food, he refrained from actually consuming it, if he was uncertain he could actually eat it and potentially digest it. He stuck to the fare that was more akin to what was at the state dinner that was more edible.
The drink is unusual, but given the alcohol, not a far cry from any other alcoholic drink in his opinion.

Before getting far into his feast of food and drink, he joined his companions' toast, which seemed to be to him.

"Thank you, thank you! And to the wonderful hosts here!" He added joining his flag on with the rest, before taking a pull, with the rest.

He hoped his contingent of clone troopers was doing okay, among the fun and frivolity, pulling a kind of guard duty, which wasn't much fun. He made a note to make sure not to drink too much of the drink the Gammoreans ordered, to keep his head on straight. He tested himself as he drank to see how hard the drink might be in comparison to a regular drink he might order at a cantina elsewhere, getting something more...domestic. He wanted to make sure the drink didn't affect him with the chemistry suited for Gammorean biology and endurance, whatever that was, versus his own...so he drank carefully, studying its effects.
Dec 23, 2025 6:05 pm
Testing the drink, Lucien finds it is definitely strong. On average, the standard male gamorrean must weigh close to 300 lbs - the bigger ones much more, and so perhaps the drink is brewed stronger for that reason. Or perhaps there is a biological difference in their ability to process it? Your mission primer didn't speak to such a thing tho.

It is hard for Lucien to judge just by drinking tho exactly how strong. The drink is also some sort of pickled salty-sour liquid and that striking flavor profile could be masking the full taste of the alcohol.

Lucian can tell his impromptu comrades are delighted to see him eat their food and drink with them, and from there they continue to escalate the celebration.

They each produce little pouches of wupiupi (the currency of the Hutts, which is also the primary currency of Gamorr, as their closest major galactic-neighbor, biggest trade partner - and historically their frequent interplanetary conqueror) and start gambling amongst themselves. While also keeping the food and drink coming.
OOC:
@PlebeianG please put together a narrative, and possibly one or more rolls of how you would generally like to handle the bulk of the day...

Do you gamble? If so how much?

The food is good, but the drink is strong. And these guys have no such inhibition as to not over-consume today. Do you try to keep up with them some? Maybe a Resilience check is in order? Do you outright start denying drinks? They are buying, this could be viewed as an insult, rejecting their hospitality? Do you try to hide that you're not celebrating the Accord in quite the same way as them? That might work, but you might get caught? How would you go about that anyway (skill check)?

Again, think about this in terms of your diplomatic mission vs who you are as a Jedi, as that is kind of the spectrum of consequences I'll be viewing it on.
...

For Cevron and Kolibri, you are given roles on the hunt commensurate to the hunting implements you chose. That said, much of the hunt is conducted, yes nearby each other but ultimately on a solitary basis. So if you're not actively undermining the efforts of others, it would be really unlikely that anyone would notice that you just... don't take the opportunities to kill quizzer that might present themselves, or intentionally miss.
OOC:
birdman, Kolibri is asked to fulfill specific hunting roles over the course of the hunt, "Go over there, and get any quizzer that come by after we chop down this tree."

But again, no one is there right next to him, making sure he kills quizzers, so totally up to you as to whether or not he actually harvests any.

If you do, roll an appropriate check plz

As Kolibri waits in the woods, mostly alone, he talks to the rawwk; "I think we should do what we can to try and save some of the quizzers, if we can." As the rawwk proudly puffs up its chest, Kolibri adds, "Let's wait on that, maybe you can yell at them later. For now, we should be more discreet." The Bothan reaches out with the force, trying to block the path between the quizzers and their doom.

For a moment Cevron finds himself enjoying the wilderness without the lack of any other people around until he remembers the quizzers. He waits in his designated spot, ready to do nothing if any go by. Though he will not jepordize the mission by being caught helping the creatures either.
Dec 28, 2025 7:53 pm
Lucien used pace as a rough tool to guide him in hopefully keeping his wits intact. He also saw the gambling as a sign that perhaps he could perhaps try to influence the group from purchasing as much by steering their sums away from them, if he played it out right and was careful and so they might have less enthusiasm to get him intoxicated by circumstance and perhaps they might call an end to the frivolity sooner; it would mean delving into the foreign currency and making recommendations and seeing if he'd get a cut, rather than directly participating.

For now, he observed the betting and gambling to get a feel on what they were wagering over, and he tried to see if there was a spot where he could lend his insight on things to one of them. Otherwise, he nurses his drink sparingly, and made sure to eat up to balance out the drink, so when the inevitable second drink came, he had a full stomach to soak it up. Granted...he could use an excuse that the flavour of the drink didn't suit quick or much drinking. The strength aside it all. The food was acceptable, but certainly not typical in the diet, either.

He kept an eye and ear to the races too, keeping track who was winning, and who wasn't.

@Furmyr,@crazybirdman gonna focus on Lucien here for a moment to kind of catch him up and wrap up the day.
Lucien gathers they're making micro-bets on the pod races - how many catastrophic engine-failures will there be, will there be any spectator casualties, will Shaakor Pak'too (a notoriously violent pod-jockey) crash-out more than one of the other racers or will he himself get crashed-out in the attempt(s) - things like that.

There are also more normal bets - winner, fastest lap (any racer), multi-race parlees - but they're more interested in the kind of morbidities of it.

There are droids that come around to take the bets. And while the gamorreans are eager to engage the Jedi in the gambling, they'll only indulge him in one reasonable-sized bet on their own funds. They encourage you to exchange your Republic credits for wupiupi, to really join them.

And while exhausting their funds seems like a reasonable tactic to maintain sobriety; at least at first, the willingness of what they understand to be a mystic holy-man to engage in their frivolities only excites and encourages them - soon a multi-hose small water-pipe shows up at the table.

Additionally... while there are plenty of gamorreans having a good time, certainly some more boisterous than your table, Lucien does stand out and their exhortations celebrating the Jedi inevitably draw eyes.
OOC:
@PlebeianG Please roll an PPK Vigilance check if you'd like to maintain situational awareness.

Also, if you participate in their rather morbid gambling interests in any form (whether letting them place a bet for you, or you trying to influence their bets negatively, or otherwise) please roll a PPK Discipline check to avoid 1 Conflict, as their destructive interests in it run directly counter to the values of the Light side. (Or, you can of course just not engage in it, but this could dampen the "Jedi: they're just like us!"-vibe.)

And also, please put together a skill check to maintain your sobriety/to just generally handle the day diplomatically.

Again, could be Negotiation to just refuse as politely as possible (tho you think any refusal will be damaging, just a matter of how much), or I could see Resilience to just try to handle the drink, Deception to hide that you're not actually consuming, whatever skill you want that you can form a narrative around to defray any tension that might arise of you don't celebrate quite like them.

Using no skill use/outright refusal will guaranteed negatively impact the comradery.

Or of course you could just celebrate with them in earnest - really win them over, but take Conflict as impairment while technically on duty isn't great...

Again the challenge here is balancing your diplomatic mission with your values. That's what the gameplay here is focused on, so show us how you use your skills to do that.

OOC:
Sure, so Vigilance is a Willpower-dependent Skill (you can find what Skills are tied to what Characteristics in the book), and as described in the "Building A Basic Dice Pool" section: when you don't have any Skill ranks you just roll the rating of the Characteristic it's dependent upon.

Please, with every check, add the Difficulty dice as well. Default Difficulty, unless I specify differently in is PPK.

I'll edit your post to add a Difficulty for the Negotiation, if you could please edit it to add an entire Vigilance check.

Whoops, by having you to edit the post I didn't notice that the changes had been made, and that we were ready to move forward.

Sorry everyone!

Here we go.
As Lucien participates politely at arms length with their indulgences as they progress, the Gamorreans do begin to notice that he is not really sharing in their level of "enthusiasm". Or at least not in the same way as they are accustomed.

They do continue to try to include him at first, but with each polite refusal or excuse they grow more and more withdrawn.

Once the water pipe arrives at the table, Lucien notices two things:

First, that one of the gamorreans produces a packet of some sort of powder from a pocket, and pinches some into the bowl of the water pipe.

The gamorrean doesn't seem like he was trying to conceal it from Lucien (nor the other gamorreans in your cadre - making it fairly easy for you to spot), but does seem like he was trying to conceal it from any potential outside observers...

Second thing that Lucien notices is that one particular gamorrean a table or two away, seems to be fixated upon him. Gamorrean expressions are not as easy for the human Jedi to read, but it seems closer to displeasure than anything else ...

Lucien didn't hide his discomfort as he noticed the observer, but he also felt relief. He was more of like mind with the potential observer, if they disapproved of all this paraphernalia. He didn't want to cause a major confrontation that didn't favor him, so he simply reserved his time with a simple inquiry.

"Are you sure you're supposed to be doing all of that?" He asked sagely? He asked of his companions with a certain amount of boldness, and generally gestured to the surroundings, hoping they were a more unique gathering and would be met with some social isolation.

The water pipe was ordered, like food or drink - delivered to the table by a servant, through the venue. But the powder does seem of course to be "extra curricular".

The communications back and forth have been fairly simple up until now, short statements dominated by common words - food, drink, good, yes, no, money - but Lucien's remark is a bit more complex here. The gamorrean doesn't fully seem to understand the implication of what he's saying.

The powder had already been sprinkled and put away, the gamorrean says something, he thinks, to the effect of "It's good! You like! Make strong!"

...

Meanwhile Lucien notices the angry-looking gamorrean at the other table, who's been fixated upon him, stand tall and snort and grunt, as he notices the Jedi looking at him as he still stares at the Jedi.

One of the other gamorreans at the angry fellows' table half-heartedly tries to pull him back to their gathering and their table, but it doesn't seem to have much effect on the bigger, angrier gamorrean.

Lucien did not partake in the powder, instead relying on a strategy of using their gambling against them, and talking his way through the festivities much like the he did with the drink issue.

He also gave them food for thought.

"I have the Force, the Force makes me strong; the Force alone guides me. Not substances. It can guide each of you, too."

He sipped carefully at his drink and chewed at his food a bit more aggressively, but kept away from the extracurriculars.

"It looks like someone is unhappy with what's going on," Lucien noted to the group, matter-of-factly. "Perhaps we should be more careful with what we're doing..."

Privately, Lucien was hoping the concerned Gammorean would set things straight; but he didn't hold out much hope that one against many would make a difference unless that person had some position of authority that would be respected.
