I used the character generator to build a pretty chock-standard SAS-type as best I could with what it gave me.
Just as a reminder, here are the primary suggestions for character backgrounds - Characters: Should be members of Joint Combined International Task Force Honey Badger: (US: Team Falcon), which includes the 173rd Infantry Brigade (Airborne); (UK: Team Cyprus), which includes a Light Armoured Recce Squadron, a Force Protection Squadron and a company of Gurkha Rifles; and (Italy: Team Aquile (Eagle)), a Motorized Infantry Bn, A Mechanized Cavalry Bn and a Horse Cavalry BN. Characters can also be members of Romanian Military, Ukrainian Military (operating in Romania), Partisan Forces, or any civilian career. Intelligence career characters will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
I should add that, while I am open to running an eclectic group, I am an American and know the American military the best. This is, of course, what the two prose pieces in the INTEREST & RECRUITMENT posts are based on. Just want to be transparent up front. As long as that is understood, then feel free to make a British, Gurkha, Italian or Romanian soldier.

Lance Corporal "Rooster" Rust McCain
Branch: USMC
Specialty: Machine gunner
Moral Code: Kill 'em all
My Dream: Kill as many of them as possible
How I met the group: They were pinned by soviet machine gun fire, I wasn't going to let Americans die. I might be a ruthless killing machine, but I love my country and my people.

Edit:
I like the first to fight route. This Marine turned bandit turned back to Marine has been there since the first shot was fired.
Also according to Google light armored recon units are part of USMC instead of Army. As a result I described my character as a Marine but let me know if I should tweak that.
Hit the cube at the top, then the cube next to the T2K game.

Scroll down on that page to "Submit a Character" and select your character sheet.
Not exactly, Although not easily found, unless you know where to look because you served in the US Army back then, the Army did have Brigade Reconnaissance Troops or BRT, prior to the 2000s when the Recon Squadron became a part of the Brigades (which ended in the Light and Airborne units in 2016-ish time frame were inactivated and Infantry BNs were formed int he overseas BDEs).
In the 173rd, they did not have a BRT, but the 173rd did have a Pathfinder Platoon and every Infantry BN had a Scout Platoon. All of those are Infantry Soldiers (11B) with the reconnaissance training, while the Pathfinders were pathfinder trained. While in the BRTs those Soldiers were 19D (Armor Cav Scouts).
The BRTs structure is a HMMWV based organization with two platoons of ten Scout Trucks (M1025 and M1026) - Link to Doctrine and doctrine TOE is here and the link to BRT.
An excerpt on the MTOE is here;
"Under the current MTOE (modified tables of organization and equipment), the BRT is authorized four officers and 45 enlisted men, for a total of 49. This does not include attachments or other supporting slice elements. The BRT has two maneuver platoons and a headquarters platoon. Each reconnaissance platoon consists of 18 soldiers and six HMMWVs. In the recon platoon there are three M2 .50-caliber machineguns and three Mk-19s, and each soldier carries an M16 or an M203. The platoons are assigned six M240Bs each, which can replace the truck-mounted Mk-19 or can provide crew-served firepower for a dismounted observation post (OP). The headquarters platoon consists of 13 soldiers with an M1025, two M998s, M1037 w/S-250 shelter (command post, CP, vehicle), and an M923. Within the division and the brigade, other reconnaissance assets can be attached. This BRT habitually trains with combat observation laser teams (COLTs), infantry snipers, air defense artillery (ADA) sections (Avenger), and ground surveillance radar (GSR) teams. Although medics have been recognized as a necessity, they are not on the MTOE "
The Character from a US Army Scout background could be from the Embassy staff that was a Cav Scout (19D could get assigned to the Embassy's support staff as a Technical Escort member). EDIT - Or from the Scout Platoon of the 1st BN 198th Armor BN, 155th Armor BDE.
So unfortunately searches are focused on what is current for the military and not the units or the US Army in the 1990s.

Sent him to Jesus with a 203 round."
Rooster, as was he did when he wasn't lifting weights, performing maintenance on Hillary, or eating, was performing some unholy sounding ritual with an electric guitar and an old tube amp.
In this instance he had the guitar in Dropped D tuning and was purposefully causing a feedback screech between what was a tortured blues scale in F#minor. The resulting tone was crunchy, as well as trudgey, sludge metal, grunge rock. It was as if Silverchair and Soundgarden had had a baby with Chevelle and the result was that fried baritone vocals, with the oversexed guitar.
"Now the wind's pickin' up what the blast threw away.
Chunks in the crevice smell like, burnt ground.
Scrape what's left off the rocks boys.
Scrape off the rocks.
Confirm that kill, yeah
Confirm that kill!"
The guitar was screaming distorted feedback in between what Rooster described as "Chunga power chords." In a way fitting the raw, unfiltered, harsh reality of a shooting war in the Carpathians. The guitar played rhythm, like how the Marine fixed fire, staccato at 5/4 timing, making an intriguing desynchronized loop that fell back in time at the end of each stanza.
"No eyes left to stare, no heart left to still
Just red paste and dog tags, CONFIRM THAT KILL!
Spotter confirms "ain't nothing breathing there"
Lieutenant nods, we police the gear
One boots intact, the rest disappeared
Into the rocks like it was never here.
The power chords slowed into an almost blues sounding, if not for the overcharged distortion, sequence of barre chords and more feedback. A guitar solo?
He continued singing, half crooning half belting, and somehow all yelling.
"How many pieces make a man?
How many reports til the count is done?
Mama gets the letter "regret to inform"
We just hosed off the evidence in the
MORNING SUN!!!"
The distorting peaked as his voice intensified. It was full and conflicted. Pride, shock, humor, horror. The amp clicked and pealed for a moment as he clicked off the distortion pedal. Now playing an eerie and haunting clean tone blues riff, diatonic still in the key of F#minor. Vocals just crooning, with a trill and vibrato. Such a large man as Rooster could produce some incredible sounds when amplified.
"Confirm...
Scrape...
Confirm...
Nothing moves...
Timing remained the same but the tempo increased to 84bpm, undistorted, finger picking the same blues scale uninterrupted by distortion. Vocals more melancholic than the earlier ecstatic.
"Back in The Wire, taste won't wash out
Soap and sand, but the leads still loud
They ask for the count like its numbers on the page
I see the sludge every time I close my eyes
No body bag needed, no coffin to seal
Just a smear on the granite -"
The distortion peals full, louder than before, returning to the wails of distortion and power chords.
"THATS THE WHOLE FUCKIN' DEAL
Scrape whats left of the rocks boys
But the rocks scrape back
Yeah the rocks scrape back
CONFIRM THAT KILL!
Pin a ribbon on me, they write it up clean
"Hostile neutralized, threat no longer seen"
But the paste had a name, had a kid, had a dream
Now it's fossilized forever in between.
How many pieces make a man?
How many nights til I become one too?
The letter they sent never mentioned the smell
Or the way the wind still carries pieces of you
Scrape what's left off the rocks...
Confirm that kill... confirm that kill...
Nothing moves... but something's moving in me
The rocks remember... the rocks remember..."
I think it will be ready Summer 2026. Who knows for sure with music though.
From the Player Manual at the top of Page 19 in the high-lighted part....

So a 100 belt of 7.62mm (lick your flavor) is 3 Kgs. In real life the 7.62x51mm 100 belt is
"Weight of a 100 round assault pack (2 per can) is 7 pounds." or about 3.18 Kgs
