Character Development Thread

So I was thinking about a Romanian Psychiatrist (Face / Medic). An older civilian psychiatrist who was pulled into the conflict when the war overwhelmed the Romanian medical system. Now a low ranking medic attached to the task force, he'll also operate as an interpreter and negotiator. Lots of grumpy old man energy and status anxiety. But it depends what other characters are in the mix and I can pivot to something else. That said, in the TW2K setting no harm in more than one medic.

I can see possibilities. I have another player who has also proposed a local. So those two characters will probably be the limit on Romanian characters.

If we already have a Romanian I'm sure I could switch to a different nationality.

I don’t foresee a problem with 2 Romanians. So that is fine. You can go ahead and generate your character.

Actually might go Moldovan - Romanian speaking. Just for a bit of variety.

If we qualify for special operations in Lifepath, can we take it? Are there special operators with the unit at all? There wasn't anything mentioned in the recruitment post, but a stray might have ended up in the area of operations or something.
I used the character generator to build a pretty chock-standard SAS-type as best I could with what it gave me.

I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of Green Berets in the area. If there are Special Forces operators in the area, they would most likely be either American or Soviet. There are Brits in the area, but not SAS. The closest thing would be a Gurkha.
Just as a reminder, here are the primary suggestions for character backgrounds - Characters: Should be members of Joint Combined International Task Force Honey Badger: (US: Team Falcon), which includes the 173rd Infantry Brigade (Airborne); (UK: Team Cyprus), which includes a Light Armoured Recce Squadron, a Force Protection Squadron and a company of Gurkha Rifles; and (Italy: Team Aquile (Eagle)), a Motorized Infantry Bn, A Mechanized Cavalry Bn and a Horse Cavalry BN. Characters can also be members of Romanian Military, Ukrainian Military (operating in Romania), Partisan Forces, or any civilian career. Intelligence career characters will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
I should add that, while I am open to running an eclectic group, I am an American and know the American military the best. This is, of course, what the two prose pieces in the INTEREST & RECRUITMENT posts are based on. Just want to be transparent up front. As long as that is understood, then feel free to make a British, Gurkha, Italian or Romanian soldier.

I'll switch nationality then to American, then.

One thing I did with the life path with Special Operations, was to title it as the character's time in a Ranger BN as it was only his 2nd Term. In the British Army a similar method for a character in a Army Reserve 4th Para BN could be assigned to the paras or Gurkhas on a temp basis for a term. Or even the Character could be from the 21st or 23rd SAS in the reserves for a term, then active duty 'filler' with the Gurkhas.

Would you allow an Officer with a Military Intelligence background (as opposed to CIA)? Figured that might help bridge the gap there and keep things within the task force.

To all: If you have submitted a character and have not seen it approved, please do not be alarmed. I am working on several things on the back end. You can rest assured that I have looked at each character that is submitted. In fact, I check them twice a day. If I haven't approved your character yet and I haven't reached out to you via PM, please know that I will get to you and either approve you are PM you within the next few days. There is still plenty of time before the official game start and I am working on some potential pre-game roleplaying.

I'm thinking of a Ukrainian who's unit was pushed back from maybe the Odessa or maybe Chernivisti or Lviv to where we are now before the unit was incorporated into whatever we are now.
Thoughts?

I red quickly through your history of the area and I get the impression the Ukrainians are kind of partisans / French Resistance types. So maybe an ex-student or something from Lviv who got involved with the underground and was forced west as the war moved on.

Ok. Go ahead and start your creation process and we can flesh out any remaining details.
