What sheet are we using? Can I get a link?
Mar 27, 2026 8:48 pm
You can use this link here... or you can post a pic of a standard sheet, etc.

Was able to sit down and play with one of the character generators last night. How do I submit the character? An never mind, found it.

Also according to Google light armored recon units are part of USMC instead of Army. As a result I described my character as a Marine but let me know if I should tweak that.

You punch your character into the sheet linked above then go to the game's title page.

Hit the cube at the top, then the cube next to the T2K game.

Scroll down on that page to "Submit a Character" and select your character sheet.

Not exactly, Although not easily found, unless you know where to look because you served in the US Army back then, the Army did have Brigade Reconnaissance Troops or BRT, prior to the 2000s when the Recon Squadron became a part of the Brigades (which ended in the Light and Airborne units in 2016-ish time frame were inactivated and Infantry BNs were formed int he overseas BDEs).

In the 173rd, they did not have a BRT, but the 173rd did have a Pathfinder Platoon and every Infantry BN had a Scout Platoon. All of those are Infantry Soldiers (11B) with the reconnaissance training, while the Pathfinders were pathfinder trained. While in the BRTs those Soldiers were 19D (Armor Cav Scouts).

The BRTs structure is a HMMWV based organization with two platoons of ten Scout Trucks (M1025 and M1026) - Link to Doctrine and doctrine TOE is here and the link to BRT.

An excerpt on the MTOE is here;
"Under the current MTOE (modified tables of organization and equipment), the BRT is authorized four officers and 45 enlisted men, for a total of 49. This does not include attachments or other supporting slice elements. The BRT has two maneuver platoons and a headquarters platoon. Each reconnaissance platoon consists of 18 soldiers and six HMMWVs. In the recon platoon there are three M2 .50-caliber machineguns and three Mk-19s, and each soldier carries an M16 or an M203. The platoons are assigned six M240Bs each, which can replace the truck-mounted Mk-19 or can provide crew-served firepower for a dismounted observation post (OP). The headquarters platoon consists of 13 soldiers with an M1025, two M998s, M1037 w/S-250 shelter (command post, CP, vehicle), and an M923. Within the division and the brigade, other reconnaissance assets can be attached. This BRT habitually trains with combat observation laser teams (COLTs), infantry snipers, air defense artillery (ADA) sections (Avenger), and ground surveillance radar (GSR) teams. Although medics have been recognized as a necessity, they are not on the MTOE "

The Character from a US Army Scout background could be from the Embassy staff that was a Cav Scout (19D could get assigned to the Embassy's support staff as a Technical Escort member). EDIT - Or from the Scout Platoon of the 1st BN 198th Armor BN, 155th Armor BDE.
OOC:
for some reason the GM has the unit as 1st BN 155th Armor BN, 198th Armor Division???

So unfortunately searches are focused on what is current for the military and not the units or the US Army in the 1990s.

Awesome, I'll update Wolfe's background to match. I'd picked the M4 as I thought he was in LAVs but I'll update to reflect the above. Great research

Post in Wiki is corrected. Thank you, Muns. BTW, for any who don't know, Muns is effectively the Subject Matter Expert on Armored Cav here, even though he might not think so. But he lived it and I really appreciate the information I gain from him.

This in a Marine asking how hot he is… I don’t believe I am qualified to answer that…

Hey man, 4/6 is exceedingly hot since we haven't been nuked yet.

Er that's a good point. Are we using Davy Crocketts along the frontlines or what?
Apr 4, 2026 5:32 pm
in 1997 the nukes went off in the European central front IIRC and all of the editions have changed this in minor ways, but the TAC nukes still hit main Europe.

The good doctor Octavian has taken the full 6 so something must have hit between the Carpathians and Chișinău. Although I imagine hospital radiological safety was probably not quite so good back then so he might have picked it up there. I used to do a lot of work with radioisotopes in a lab back then. And uranium. (Looks around for a Geiger counter to measure himself).
