Are we playing with a timer?
Timer as in, accomplish missions as they come like DnD?
Not as much as, I have crafted multiple storylines; The rebuilding of the Estate is important only as much as it becomes the group's HQ and revenue maker as the story progresses. Starting from the ground allows the group to build it the way they want. I only placed the resources on the different estates. There are storylines on here, and the group has the choice in how much they want to dive into any or all of the different storylines. The estates has two political storylines (being introduced to one already) but there are always choices.

Trying to set expectations here. Eastern RPGs usually don't use timers because they want us to experience everything the writers put time into making.
The Taoist precept "The Journey is more important than the destination."
While Eastern/Western cultures are unique flavors, there are also similarities. Farmers, Merchants, and craftsmen still had similar problems regardless of cultural styles. Story wise, we've barely skimmed the surface. Deeper mysteries, political intrigue, and drama will begin inside of the Capital City because this is where you are introduced to the Imperial court (Watch K-Drama and Asian action shows)

What game do you want us to play? I have no preference.
The influence in this game is more from Asian television (where if they are strangers, they are quick to cooperate with each other) or begin knowing each other. That is why I set it up so the group is willing to work together, trying to get that one lone wolf that continues to break away from the team ends up being more work than necessary. DnD in general is a team effort. This doesn't mean that everyone has to participate in court drama, but more like once the group decides to delve into a story everyone works together in their own unique way.
Otherwise, the group has the freedom to pursue or not pursue different plot-lines that they encounter. There are benefits and consequences of each choice. So yes, there are similarities but there are also going to be stories more suited for Asian scene.
