Many thanks for the invite! Looking forward to Uni life at MU 😎

Sharing here this character sheet template that I am using in other CoC 7e games here on GP - it is quite handy:

-It has buttons to automatically roll a skill as a Standard, Bonus or Penalty roll.

-It also fills in the dice roller with the full/half/fifth values so they print in the post, for easy reference during the game.

-Finally, it has tickboxes next to the skills, for Experience rolls purposes!
[ +- ] example:

Here it is, click 'Create Character' top right. Anything with an underscore _ is a fillable field:
[ +- ] CoC7e (with dice rollers)
(or of course, just ignore it and point us to your favourite charsheet!)

First time playing a game on Gamersplane, can I get a quick walkthrough on how we are going about character creation for this?
Jan 16, 2026 9:52 pm
We'll create the characters as per CoC 7e rules, but I suspect the Occupation will be Student for everyone? Is that correct @McButterpants
[ +- ] Student/Intern occupation
We can fill the various stats and details using the character sheet I posted above, it is fillable (and will calculate the half/fifth values automatically).

Once the character sheet is filled, we can submit it to this game through the Game Details link bottom right of the page. Once approved by the GM, the character will be available in the game, can be displayed in-game to roll dice, modify values etc.

Here is a Student Template from A Time to Harvest. It will give you some more options. Subtle differences.

Here is a link to pre-generated characters. Some are professors, but there are a number of students. I am fine if someone wants to grab a pre-gen and then adjust background and descriptions.

Hopefully this works.

Sorry, to clarify, are we making a sheet outside of Gamersplane and keeping track from there, or are we using the character sheet thing in Gamersplane? I just need to know where I am putting things.
Jan 17, 2026 3:07 am
Put it in Gamers Plane in the sheet that Dr_B listed above. The pre-gens are if you don’t want to roll up a new investigator and just want to transfer the stats

So I rolled through the character sheet per that link, and then went to game details to add the character sheet however it says no characters available. I verified it's in Character library - i noticed it says the character is for a custom game though, not CoC system which might be the problem??
Jan 17, 2026 7:52 am
Ah yes, good point.

@McButterpants could you pls add to the game character sheets allowed also the 'custom' type, as the one in this thread is indeed a custom one?

Thanks, I had never seen these occupations, fantastic stuff. More tailored to each College within MU.

Sorry for my absence and quick responses. It was a busy week at work and I had an online con game last night.

Custom Sheet has been added to the game.

@radiantskys please try the sheet again to see if it works. I'll check the game details and confirm your character is added to the game.

I've got 5 players invited. I will start to put more details to the game tomorrow afternoon. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Right now, the group consists of:
- Two medical students
- One English major (junior year)
- One graduate student in Archaeology
- One undergrad in Astronomy

Please make your character sheets visible to each other (click the book icon beside your character in My Characters so it turns red).

I don't mind some overlap in Skill Points, but it would be good to be aware of everyone's allocation so that you are not all strong in the same areas, while missing some important Skills. I'll make a list of Skills that would be good for the campaign in case you are unsure what to choose. That said, please make the character you want to play. Don't pick skills to win.

Most importantly, I’d like this to be a connected group. You don’t all need to be best friends, but you should know one another. That might mean:

- Close friends or roommates
- Classmates who’ve worked together before
- Members of the same club or academic society
- Friends-of-friends who regularly cross paths

I’d like everyone to think about how and why their character knows at least one or two others in the group. These connections don’t need to be deep or positive, but they should exist.

I also want you all to share a broader group affiliation that ties everyone together. The campaign includes a suggested option for this, which I just need to review to make sure it fits the tone I’m aiming for. I’ll look into that tomorrow and follow up with details.

Thank you, it looks like I was able to add the character, I may need to fix some stats as I was putting together the character at like 3AM but I tried to copy most of a pre-gen and tailored a few skills slightly.

I guess a common Club could be an easy way to unite MU students from different Colleges and years?

I wonder if, in full Prohibition, they all heard about a campus 'club' that is a front for sharing information about where to find booze in Arkham? Speakeasy addresses, where 'tea parties' and 'rent parties' are happening... It would have a totally innocent name, like 'Pottery Appreciation Society' or something 😎 . Would something like that work?
Will roll and submit my character ASAP submitted Marcus Davenport

Hi McB, thanks for letting me in! Hi everyone else!

I've spent the weekend working on a big project proposal for Tuesday and tomorrow I need to dedicate myself almost totally to it, so I'm gonna be a bit slow to get going :-/

There are a number of clubs listed in the Miskatonic University sourcebook.

Here are a couple that might fit your suggestion above:
- The Bohemians: More of a social set than an organization, the Miskatonic bohemians are a lecherous, decadent group of students who have achieved some infamy around campus.
- The Skull: The subject of countless whispered rumors and campus legends, just about everybody at Miskatonic seems to have heard of the Skulls, though nobody seems to know anything substantial about them. The Skull is a secret fraternity, said by some to be as old or older than Miskatonic University.
- Burrowers Beneath: Though some knowledgeable investigators might be taken aback by their name, this small but dedicated campus group has absolutely no affiliation with chthonians or the Cthulhu mythos. Often called "the Moles" or "the Burrowers" by their peers, the group devotes themselves to exploring and maintaining the campus tunnels. More at home underground than on campus, the Burrowers tend to be a reclusive lot, although they sometimes throw wild parties down in the caves.
- The Skeptics: Led by a charismatic cynic, Matthew Robbins, this tireless handful of nay-sayers attempts to debunk or disprove anyone rumored to be psychic or anything connected with the occult. They eschew sentimentality and sensationalism of any kind. Their feet are firmly rooted in sedimentary rock and their minds are unaffected by orbits, prominences, and electromagnetic displays.
- Brownstone Journal: A loosely organized group devoted to organizing off-campus students. The journal’s staff actually produces no journal, but it does publish flyers concerning off-campus issues, organized gatherings, or details of city policies affecting rents, leases, and so on. Participants occasionally arrange small socials and dances for the off-campus community.

Other Clubs:
- Student Organizations like The Student Senate, The Miskatonic University Crier, or Campus Spirit Committee
- Athletics Clubs like Sports Clubs, Martial Arts, and Cheerleading
- Fraternities and Sororities (might not work with a mixed group)
- Honor Societies like The Silver Key Honor Society and The Scabbard and Blade (academic excellence)
- Fine Arts Clubs like University Players, The Miskatonic University Marching Band, The Jazz Band, and The Glee Club
- Academic Clubs like the Archaeological Studies Club, Arkham Astronomical Society, Arms of Atlas (impact of man on nature), Chemistry Club, Debate Society, French Club, The Ivory Tower Circle, Miskatonic Engineering Society, and the Medieval Recreation Society
- Faculty Organizations like Miskatonic Athletic Association and the Shooting Club

You can connect with each other via any of the above organizations and have meet-ups at a local Speakeasy. Another option is to start your own club - call it whatever you like, and make the focus whatever you like (within reason unless you want school administration to try to shut you down).

No problem. I think we have a few things to work through before we get going.
