Borz stumbled back, he could recall where the statue had been that he had lifted the torch from. Unable to see, the Komsa warrior fell back from the fight. He waved his habd before his face, unable to make out the shape of his fingers. As the blood froze in his veins the cold chill of death had made the brilliance of that light grow. It was all he could see.
In that state, the Komsa recalled a deep memory in his blood. A story of the Sky Father, and the chitin of his divinity. Focusing on that memory, warmth grew and resonated in his chest, the blood began to thaw, and while the process was immensely painful, growth always hurt.
He touched the berkanaz rune upon his warshirt.
"Sormós*wiHrósyo." The Komsa man incanted the word of power. A phrase that struck a sharp correlary to every spoken language on the continent.
The light, he began to understand wasn't blinding him. He was attempting to stop it. Of course it had won- it was everything. He was simply one small thing. Upon realizing this, his sight began to return.
"The eyes do not see. Only the mind sees. See the glory, become glorious."
The Armor of Heroes, a manifestation of the divine power in all man emanated as the light returned to him. Borz recovered quickly. Still sensing that they were all imperiled.

Wizard's Spell Compendium
By means of this spell, the wizard creates a magical field of force that serves as if it were scale mail armor (AC 6). The spell has no effect on a person already armored or a creature with Armor Class 6 or better. It is not cumulative with the shield spell, but it is cumulative with Dexterity and, in case of fighter/mages, with the shield bonus. The armor spell does not hinder movement or prevent spellcasting, and adds no weight or encumbrance. It lasts until successfully dispelled or until the wearer sustains cumulative damage totaling greater than 8 points + 1 per level of the caster. (It is important to note that the armor does not absorb this damage. The armor merely grants an AC of 6; the wearer still suffers full damage from any successful attacks.) Thus, the wearer might suffer 8 points from an attack, then several minutes later sustain an additional 1 point of damage. Unless the spell were cast by a wizard of 2nd level or higher, it would be dispelled at this time. Until it is dispelled, the armor spell grants the wearer full benefits of the Armor Class gained.
The material component is a piece of finely cured leather that has been blessed by a priest.

[ +- ] Scale Mail as Defined
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.

Tibbius has hosted me in many of his games, so I am probably alot more familiar with his style of GMing than most.
He wants you to contribute to the lore. To add the unique flair of your characters. Probably one of the best read people I have ever talked to. Get creative. He is quite fair, and will often come up with better ideas to frame things if you give him something to work with.
I remember I was having trouble with a character fitting in with the world. He was a cyborg space viking clone/synthetic with a removable floating eye and an affnity to fire magic. We did some brainstorming and he had the idea of making the eye a microwave emitter. It was an instant hit. It is a pity *most* of us died in that terrorwasp hive. We *almost* got the royal jelly we were looking for.
I think I like this system best for magic. It seems very mythological. And reinforces my belief that limitations bring creativity.
I am not trying to tell you how to play, only gifting the benefit of my experience.
TL;DR: Tibbius doesn't want to kill you, he wants to tell you a story that you are yourself making
