The papers Persephone asked you to look at contain details of real-estate deals in the area, there is mention of The Ivy Club (often by inserted notes linking the named buyers to organisations they control) but also mention of Elliot (also sometimes through third-party intermediaries).

You probably know that Elliot was interested in real-estate, or, at least, that he owns a fair bit of it. Among others, they both seemed to be vying for a old, dilapidated hotel in Mayfair that was put out of business by not being able to compete with the likes of The Lanesborough or The Ritz. Why anyone would want to buy such a place it beyond you.

https://i.imgur.com/6cbOXPS.jpegCirce listens as Benji explains what happened to her sister and, as he does so, an expression of horror and grief spreads across her face. At the mention of so much blood--her sister's blood--she cries out, "Oh my god, No! Persephone, no!" She runs toward her sister's bedroom in tears.

Before she reaches the door, Persephone emerges, drawn by the noise. She looks vaguely annoyed by the interruption. Her hair and make-up look absolutely exquisite, as does her whole ensemble -- even better than Benji has seen her appear before. Circe crashes into her, embracing her in her tears. Persephone becomes agitated, as an emotional response begins to emerge, but then she grunts in pain and falls to her knees as the symbol on her black flares with an infernal red light bright enough to be seen through her linen top. Persephone grunts again, as if the symbol flashing is causing her pain.

Circe falls with Persephone and they are now both on their knees, Circe clinging to Persephone while Persephone struggles with the symbol. Circe cries out, "Pers! We need to get this effing thing off your back now! It's gonna kill you!" The light fades and Persephone pulls herself back to standing. Calm comes over her again -- or coldness, really -- but a look of concern remains. She observes Circe and says, "Hmm. I can't function very efficiently if that is going to happen with any frequency. Wait a moment; you are obviously distraught. More than usual, I mean. Why?" She looks to Benji, expecting him to be able to provide a more coherent explanation than her sobbing, angry little sis.

"She was asking about what happened in the tunnels," Benji explains apologetically. "I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset her."

Persephone nods curtly and says, "Ah, yes. I imagine the sight of my corpse after the hellhound was through with me was grisly indeed. I have the faint scars all over my body."

Circe eventually calms down and pulls herself to standing. Persephone sighs heavily and says, "I suppose it is all rather upsetting. Or, rather, it should be. But I am... numb. As if that part of me has been... quarantined." She looks at Benji with almost no expression at all on her blank face. She asks, "This is likely unhealthy, isn't it? I suspect it isn't sustainable long term, either; I wonder if my Patron has decided I am a liability and has chosen to use me in this way for the short term until this burns me out. Alas, I have no way of knowing. Do you know anyone who has experience with such things? Perhaps your bookstore friend?"

Circe has finally composed herself enough to rejoin the conversation, adding, "Yes! Benji, please. Pers is willing. We need to do this, now."

"Oh, yes! Right! Sorry! I was just about to do that," says Benji, realising he’s gotten distracted. He picks up his phone again and (slowly) composes a text to Yasmine:

Dear Yasmine,
I hope you are well and that the process of rescuing Jacob’s books is going smoothly! I am just writing to you because I was wondering if you might know anything about magical tattoos? My friend, Persephone, has one that she would like removed as it seems to be tampering with her emotions. Please write back soon!
Yours,
Benji

While they wait for a response, he picks up the papers Persephone gave him to look over and says, "I’m afraid that the business side of this is well over my head, but I can tell you about Elliot Parry, at least. He’s the vampire lord who used to control this part of London and a… a friend of Emma’s." He narrows his eyes in disapproval as he says the word friend. "He went missing very recently."

Yasmine responds a short while later:

> Where have you been? I tried calling you! What did you do with the frog?

You can feel the interrobangs implied in her text, even though she does not type them. One would have thought that the idea of 'magical tattoos' would have interested her, but she seems much more concerned about other things.

Benji begins to text back, but then decides that’s too slow and it would be easier just to call her.

"Yasmine!" he says, as soon as she picks up. "Sorry, I was trapped underground for a few days and my telephone wasn’t working. I didn’t realise you had called. I released the frog in St James’ park. Why do you ask? Is everything all right?"

"Can you... no, forget it." Yasmine says, completely skipping over the story of being 'trapped underground for days'. "The park is flooded, isn't it?" She sounds a bit defeated by this news.

"I'm afraid so," Benji agrees. "Why? What's the matter?"

"Nevermind. It was just one frog... not like one can cause an ecological disaster, right?" Yasmine sighs. "These eggs must have been externally fertilised. That's how frogs work, right?"

"Eggs?" Benji repeats, confused. "What are you talking about?"

Max strides through the dusty halls pausing occasionally to examine a flaw in the old decorations. Plastic Surgery clinics were usually bougie joints, or so she believes, and it's hard to see why anyone would choose to set up shop here. Might be a problem. Might also be an opportunity.

She's not a tall woman by any means, but she has an aura of someone 'large for their size,' and her presence seems to take up more space in a room than it really should. She walks with confidence and grace, and a hint of wary danger, like a predator pacing its enclosure simply waiting for a chance to spring to freedom. Her blonde hair is kept in a tousled but aesthetically pleasing mop, with wild bangs that hang to the right side of her face, and intense blue eyes. She wears mostly black leather, pants and a jacket, hanging open with a plain gray T-shirt beneath. She carries a worn duffel bag across her back.

When she gets to Titania's door, she pauses to admire the sheer contrast of the sign with the rest of the building. Who did they think they were fooling? Surround yourself with a dump like this, everyone would think you were a dump no matter how ritzy you looked on the inside. Without knocking, she enters.

She pauses to give the room's inhabitants a brief scan before she approaches the receptionist. "Hi," she says cordially. Her voice is husky and direct. "I'd like to make an appointment. Unless you do walk-ins? That's... probably not a thing, huh?"

"Eggs." Yasmine says, searching for the word. "Frogspawn? The pond was full of frogspawn. They hatched. Thousands of little têtards ... tadpoles."

She is overly concerned about the impact that introducing foreign frogs into the ecosystem might have, you may have to steer her back to the issues at hand.

"Hello daarling!" The receptionist says, giving you a happy smile. "You look fabulous. Love the leather, and that hair! Don't change a thing." This last is possibly a bit of a strange thing to say in a plastic surgery clinic.

The receptionist studies you for a moment, as if trying to remember someone they have not met in a long time, then she is forced to ask, slightly apologetically: "Can I get your name?" Her fingers hover over her computer keyboard.

Max can't help but smile indulgently at the receptionist's bubbly attitude. "Thanks. Always nice when others notice the fabulousness." She raises a brow dubiously at the comment that she shouldn't change a thing but doesn't remark on it. "Name's Maxine Harvey."

"Oh, I see!" says Benji, eyes widening. One frog was difficult enough to catch. Thousands of tadpoles is a very serious problem indeed! "Should we try to catch them all and take them somewhere? I know you were worried about the ecological impact, but surely they must be local frogs? Else, where on earth did they come from?" As he’s talking, his eyes drift over to Circe and Persephone and he suddenly remembers that he did not call Yasmine to talk about frogs. "Anyway, about my friend’s tattoo…" he prompts Yasmine.

"They are not 'local'." Yasmine says. "I looked it up. I don't know where it came from pr what sort they are. Don't worry about the catching them... I sorted it out." She deliberately does not elucidate how she 'sorted it out', she saw that you are a bit of a softy when it comes to animals, so you probably don't want to know.

"Tattoo? What?" She says, then you hear the phone move away from her face as she checks your message. "Oh. Interesting. Many people regret getting a tattoo, they often make them feel bad. I don't know a lot about removing tattoos, but if it is magical she might need more than just the tattoo removed. Bring her over, I can take a look."

You can overhear most of the conversation Benji is having with Yasmine. Circe looks on incredulously as the talk of invading frogs turns to a casual conversation about 'magic' like any of this is normal.

You met Yasmine, and probably noticed her many tattoos, they seemed to have mystical relevance, so she may well be the best person to go to with this issue. But you are already dolled-up and expecting Viviana for your date, you don't have much time for gallivanting around dealing with inconsequential tattoos and emotions.

The receptionists fingers flit across the keys, then her eyes across the screen and down, there is clearly information there.

"I'm sorry, dear." She says apologetically. "We just don't have any openings." The waiting room is empty except for an older man reading a book, he does not look like a patient —though one can never tell— and they are not busy. Whatever information the computer brought up was probably about your past life, your criminal life, and possibly reports you as 'aware of the supernatural, but no one of consequence'.

How widespread is the knowledge that you have changed? Would the sight of a 'werewolf bite' be a revelation?

Max's friendly demeanor vanishes in an instant. She says nothing for a while, simply staring at the receptionist blankly, as if she hadn't heard. She briefly sweeps her gaze over the near-empty waiting room before turning it back on the receptionist. "Uh huh," she says unconvincingly. "Business must be booming." She wonders if they know that she's a werewolf. On one hand, she'd only been back from Germany for six months now, and word hadn't really had time to spread across the entire supernatural underworld. But on the other hand, she hadn't exactly been trying very hard to keep it a secret. And if she showed them the werewolf bite, it could well be a dead giveaway.

Silently, she continues staring in silence at the receptionist, ignoring the implied request to leave long after it becomes awkward, gauging the woman's reaction carefully.
