Circe struggles to contain her awe of Max—she’s so cool and, like, a rebel.

Circe stops and reflects upon what she’s feeling. Oh my god… I think maybe I’m bi? Um… I need to talk to Pers about this, see how she pulls it off…

"Of course, of course." Moss says, sounding a little disappointed that you want to take the time to research this yourself, he spent the whole night reading, and he was already versed in the lore and knew enough to get started. He rattles off a slew connected ideas and the books books they are from, mainly old folklore with a smattering of fairy tales. It is a lot, and he promises to text it to you, he plans to write it up as a paper for peer-review publication anyway, but that is a lengthy process.

"But... you think you may be interested?" He asks, not quite leaning on the 'you Owe us' angle since that feels counter to the emotional ambiance he is trying to cultivate. "You've felt their love and power." He says, not seeing how you are not jumping at the opportunity to be a part of this contact mission.

"That's not the term most people use." Viv mutters, she is not used to being called 'adorable'.

The talk of 'harm' and 'armour' and such make her a little uncomfortable, her talk of 'cutty revenge' being mostly talk.

"I didn't think it was scary." She objects, sounding almost confused that you would think that. "I thought you were beautiful." She says shyly about your stone form.

Maybe it hasn't fully settled in yet, but she seems to be taking this whole revelation remarkably well.

Alara seems a tad overwhelmed by your stream of questions. "I don't know." She says, trying to answer them as best she can.

"There was a lot of blood." She 'explains', not saying out loud that that drew her there. "I wasn't working, or anything." She adds, apparently still worried about getting into trouble, this being from before your 'permission'.

"I think he was a jogger, one of the early ones." Alara goes on. "The body was still a bit warm when it was found by the other joggers, maybe half an hour after death? That was, like, just before 5 a.m."

The talking about the blood and the body does seem to be making her a little uncomfortable, hungry as she is. She also seems to have seen the body before the joggers found it.

"He jogged in the park, quite regularly, but I don't know him, or the ones that found him." By 'don't know them' it sure sounds like she means 'watched them from time to time'. "I don't know where they are now? At home?"

If this happened before 5 this morning then it has been over half a day. The police forensics tent covers the area where the body, or traces of any evidence, was found, which spanned part of the park and Park Lane. The body has, presumably, been moved to the morgue.

Alara looks a little less certain than Max about 'just'. When you start to notice the things that go bump in the night, they start to notice you right back. You suddenly become a viable target. There are reasons most people don't talk openly to their friends and family about this stuff, it puts them in the cross-hairs.

She does not say this, not wanting to scare Circe who she has taken a bit of a shine to.

"Of course! I wanted to read up on the ritual to make sure we didn't miss anything, but I suppose we don’t have anything to lose by trying" she could, in fact, think of several things that could go horribly wrong, but she kept it to herself "Meet me at the corner of Hyde Park in a couple of hours. I’ll text you the precise location. Bring what you need"

Eliot vanished right at that very spot, which led her to believe that there was some kind of portal there, or at least, that the 'veil' between the two worlds was particularly thin. "I want to call a few of my friends to come with us, just in case. I'll see you there!"

Now in her human form, Persephone gazes into Viv’s eyes and says, "Wow… I never knew how much I needed validation, or acceptance for my other form and my true self. Thank you Viv. You are special to me."

She laughs and hugs Viv, followed by a kiss… and things progress from there, into the bedroom.

—Circe—
Circe listens to the talk about hell hounds and then something clicks. "Wait a minute! Persephone had said she was, um, killed and fed to a hellhound to devour. And it was only her demonic patron that was able to rebuild her and bring her back. Is that the same hell houn?".

Max wracks her brain trying to think of what she was doing around 4:30 am the previous evening. Sleeping, right? It had to be sleeping. Only... she didn't have any way of knowing that she was really sleeping, did she? The Wolf, it was new, and oh so hard to control. It came out when she didn't want it to. It controlled her when she tried to control it. Was it possible that she was going on nightly excursions without even knowing?

Was it possible that she had murdered an innocent man?

Even if she hadn't, this was bad. People knew she was a werewolf. Kenedi would find out. And like any other lazy pig, she'd take the simple explanation and try to pin the murder on her. She had to get to the bottom of this before she sank to the bottom of it.

"Benji," she asks solemnly. "This sounding like your hellhound?" She can't quite keep the quaver out of her voice.

"Hmm...?" Moss says when you suggest doing it this morning, you can hear him paging through books. "You sure? I don't actually see anything about needing to do it at night? I just assumed it would be? If nothing else, then to just to avoid being seen...?

"But I am just making this up as I go along." He says in reply to your wanting to check the ritual. "It's not like anyone has done anything like this in a long time, and no one wrote it down. But I think I understand what the pieces of oral tradition are getting at."

He does not object to your wanting to bring backup, but you can hear that he is hesitant. Not everyone has the required 'energy', and he is worried that outsiders might disrupt the flow. He may, later, object if you bring the wrong people.

Viv does not know what to say in reply to your response to her validation, she was just saying how she feels. While she struggles with all the veiled messages others send, she also seems to struggle with direct statement of such feelings, she is slightly feeling like she has done something wrong and should not have said what she feels, that always gets her into trouble.

"We did not even get to watch Netflix." She jokes as you drag her back to the bedroom, this time with warmer results.

"Hardly anyone goes out in this weather. We'll be fine" Missing dinner at home over this wasn’t an option, not after she promised to stay out of trouble.

"But if you think it could mess up the ritual, then we can find another time to do it. Maybe over the weekend?"
She didn’t mention exactly who she would be bringing along either. Dr. Moss might object, but after nearly being sacrificed in a a demonic ritual, and spending a couple of days hospitalized after losing a pint of blood, she wasn’t taking any chances.

"I’m afraid so," Benji confirms Circe’s conclusions.

"Well, it’s certainly the simplest explanation, isn’t it?" he says to Max, frowning. "A person was attacked by a big dog in Hyde Park — a place where I know for a fact that the hound frequents. What else could it be?"

Persephone laughs...a laugh of relief and release. She has her feeling back. And even though she knows she will have to work through the trauma in therapy or whatever, she is glad to be feeling her authentic self again. She bounds up on the bed and says, "Hah, don't worry, we will have to take a break eventually! Once wee've broken each other with too many Os, we can relax on the sofa with some gatorade and watch some stuff."

"Huh... I'm not sure." Moss says, sounding not sure at all. "But if we have to, we can try. I just don't want to wait too long. This feels like precipitous timing, and I don't want to miss our window."

Moss does not seem concerned about your bringing people... provided they are the right sort of people. But there are almost always a few random people around during the day (and the police investigation will make that even more true (even at night), though you don't yet know of this).

Moss did not say anything about specific times, though there are traditional ones like sunset and sunrise, as well as midnight and other witching hours that he may have been assuming. You know that there is unlikely to be any actual need to 'miss dinner' and nipping out once everyone is abed would be a good fit. You are making excuses to avoid risk, and you know, deep down inside that that will never work out, you will never get anything done if you live in fear of failure.

"Yes. What else could it be." Alara says with barely hidden sarcasm that may only be apparent to one of you. "Not like there is any other great big dog running around in the park at night."

All the stories and 'sightings' and incidents of the hellhound have been underground, in the tunnels, but Benji certainly found a new connection within Hyde Park.

"That certainly is an unexpected benefit of cutting the men out of the equation." Viv says. "From what I remember they would always roll over and fall asleep right after... or was it still during." Her eyes have been opened to more than just the nature of the supernatural in the past few days.

"Um..." She says at a later point. "Do you think we can try with you... you know... other...?" Apparently she has read some of those 'paranormal romance' books (that being the polite version of the two word name for the genre).

"Fine" she let out a soft sigh "Just...tell me when and where you want me, and I'll be there" she wanted to end the call, meeting the faeries seemed less important now, when Bev has gone missing "I'm sorry, but I really need to get going. Text me the details, alright?"

She ended the call and exhaled slowly, coming to a stop under the rain. She was growing more and more worried for Bev; she doubted the police would be able to do much if vampires were involved. And maybe it was a bad idea to involve them to begin with, especially if Bev was now one of the undead.

She forced herself to think through it logically. If Bev really had turned - if this nightmarish possibility was true, who would she go for help? Benji, obviously, but he was missing, and only returned last night. Bev didn't know any other vampires, at least she didn't remember mentioning anyone else. Except, maybe, Chablis?

...no harm in trying

Sighing to herself again, she pulled up Chablis's number and pressed dial, hoping she hadn't already retired to her 'coffin' for the day

You hear loud, thumping music in the background of Chablis call, it sounds like she is back at work, during the unpopular morning shift. After the customary 'who dis' negotiations, Chablis is thrilled to hear from you and confirm she is back at the Velvet Sin.

Max shoots a death glare at Alara as she makes her sarcastic comment, willing her to shut up. For obvious reasons she does nothing further to make a scene though.

"Alright," she says addressing the group. "It's been a night for me, and I need some shuteye. I'm visiting the site of the murder tomorrow morning, hopefully most of the pigs will have cleared out by then. Benji, Alara, you're both free to join me if you want to get to the bottom of this. And Circe? How about you take my card? You don't strike me as being into the hard stuff, but if you want weed, acid, shrooms, I got you. Our service is top notch, and we do deliveries for a very reasonable fee." She digs into her jacket and hands Circe her shady card.

"Chablis, hi. Have you - " her words were lost in the music roaring through the other end of the line "Have you - HAVE YOU SEEN BEV?? IS SHE - ?" the bass drowned out most of the conversation. She only caught Chablis saying Bev's name back, followed with some other words she couldn't make out.

"ALRIGHT! I'LL BE THERE IN A FEW MINUTES!" she raised her voice one last time , before hanging up the call and sighing to herself. She was supposed to meet Benji in less than an hour for coffee, but this shouldn't be such a long detour. And she was sure he would understand, even if she did end up being late.

Sliding the phone back into the pocket of her raincoat, she adjusted her scarf and headed to the nearest subway station...
