She was happy that Charles decided to come along with her. Not so much because she needed the company on the ride over, but because it made her feel safer, especially in that neighborhood. She wasn’t the least bit worried about leaving her car out on the street; it was old, dingy that wheezed like a chain smoker every time she tried to start the engine. It was hardly worth the trouble of stealing; she would probably get more out of the insurance than the thing was worth. And besides; anything of real value that might have been stolen out of it was now in Llewis' flat...

She texted Llewis on the way over to make sure he hadn't left for his shift yet. Leaving her crutches in the car, she slipped out to stand beside Charles, opened her umbrella and allowed him to hold it as they crossed the street together. Once at the door, she knocked lightly, and waited for someone to answer

Max inclines her head. "Tomorrow then. Oh, and I'm sorry things got off on the wrong foot. I suppose I simply misunderstood the way you conducted business. Have a good evening, Blossom."

She departs Titania's and retrieves her umbrella from her duffel bag, taking the train back to her 'home.'

Even with the en route text, LLewis did not have time to prepare for a visit, and he answers the door with his hair wet from the shower and looking like he dressed hastily. He would probably have liked to have cleaned up a bit, but the place is fairly tidy, there are only today's dishes, and a damp towel on the weight rack showing the lack of prep, that and a prosthetic leg standing in the corner.

Llewis greets you eagerly, his face only falling a little at the sight of your chaperone. "Would you like to come in?" He asks, glancing around the street in what seems like habit.

When Max gets home, she checks on her daughter Madison quickly, who is already asleep. Then she steps back out into the street, looking over the businesses, the residents, and the shady spots where crime might be going on, to see if all is going well.

No, Emma didn't want to step into a stranger's house - not after what happened to her the last time she threw caution to the wind. She gave him a polite smile, and pulled a lock of hair behind her ear:

"Oh, I wouldn’t want to trouble you. If you could just fetch my purse, I’ll be on my way."

"Oh." Llewis seems disappointed that you don't want to hang out and are all business, but accepts that you are important and he is nothing but a lowly security guard.

"Of course." He says, going back inside. You hear the sound of a safe opening and then he returns, purse in hand. "I kept it safe for you." He says.

It looks like it is all there, though you have no way of knowing if he skimmed a little off the top... but then, he has no way of knowing that you have no way of knowing...

It hasn't stopped raining in weeks, but the smile Emma gave him after he handed her the purse felt like the sun finally broke through the grey clouds. "Thank you!"

She couldn't wait to get in her car. She had to make sure everything was there. The cash she stolen emancipated from Eliot's safe wasn't her first concern. She absentmindedly took out one thick bundle after another from her purse, until her fingers finally brushed against the backup drive, near the bottom of her purse.

"I can’t thank you enough" she let out a sigh of relief, eyes sparkling as she looked at him "You really saved me. I owe you, big time!"

"Hey! Don't flash that about!" Llewis exclaims, his hand reaching for a weapon he no longer wears and looking around the street.

Charles' eyes nearly pop out of his head at the sight of more money than he earned in his lifetime.

Right, the cash.

Emma lifted the bundles to her face, drawing in the scent of crisp bills, letting it flood her senses for a moment. With a reluctant sigh, she pushed the stacks back into her purse, then leaned in and brushed a quick kiss against Llewis’ cheek

"Thanks again. You really are a lifesaver."

Turning toward Charles, she gave him a small nod, waiting for him to take the lead them back to the car.

"Yes. Put that away." Charles hisses nervously. The sight of the famous, but never seen, £50 notes making him equally worried for your safety.

Llewis flushes at the kiss, but still looks worried. "Uh..." He says. "Let me get my car. I will escort you out?" He is asking permission, keeping people safe is his job, but you have not noticed anyone noticing your performance.

"We will be alright; my car’s just across the street" she assured him, though she suspected his concern had more to do with not wanting to part ways than with any real danger. "But it would make me feel better if you watched us from your doorstep. I’ll certainly feel safer that way." She gave him a playful wink, then nudged Charles to get them moving.

A look of confusion passes over Circe's face until she realizes the purpose here. "Oh! Like, we're gonna overload the darn thing. Ok, so... I have a REAL good one then."

Persephone turns and arches an eyebrow curiously. She comments, "My dear, I doubt there is anything you could say that could compare to what I've experienced recently. But very well, do your worst." She looks bored by the whole process.

An angry look spreads over Circe's face as she recalls all of the many hurtful and cruel things that her big sister has done to her just in the past few hours, not to mention since her arrival here. She sets her jaw, steps close to Persephone, and says, "Do you remember your grad school fiancé, Vincent? He and I were sleeping together. Regularly. That's right; I was a freshman in college and he was 24 and he was planning to marry you but he preferred sleeping with me. You're a joke, and you'll probably die a sad old woman."

Circe steps back, appalled at what she has just said. She had clearly accessed a part of herself -- a skillset, let's say -- that Persephone is quite good with, but that Circe had always eschewed as awful. Well, the sisters are more alike than they may have realized.

"Uh... I don't know..." Llewis says hesitantly, but you are already moving, Charles also not wanting to hang around.

Are you paying attention to your surroundings as you leave? Is Charles still driving?

"'Overload'?" Yasmine says. "No, I just need to see it in action." She is watching the 'tattoo' through two pairs of glasses, one only covering one eye.

How does Circe's revelation make you feel? Do you believe her?

Emma handed Charles the keys and let him drive. She turned her face toward the window, but the heavy rain blurred everything outside, and after a few minutes of trying she gave up on making sense of the all the grey rushing past her, and leaned back in her seat instead. "Thanks for coming today" she turned her attention to Charles, and broke the silence with some small talk to pass the time on their way home "I hope David is doing better..."

Persephone’s eye twitches as Circe speaks and the muscles in her jaw visibly tense. Persephone knows that Circe is not a good liar—or, at least, she had thought so—so Persephone immediately concludes that what her sister says is true. What’s more, it matches with things that happened and that Vincent had said back then, which makes the words all the more impactful.

Persephone’s back becomes hot enough to the touch that a faint smell of burning emanates from her—though whether it is her flesh, body hair, or clothing isn’t clear.

Finally, she replies, her voice strained. She chokes out the words in a supreme act of control, saying, "I see. You , ahem, have violated my trust, Circe. And I.." She hesitates, seeming to struggle with inner feeling in conflict.

Circe watches Persephone squirm with a mix of horror at her own behavior and a touch of vengeful satisfaction. When Yasime clarifies that this is only to activate her emotions, not overload them, her eyes go wide. "What?! But I thought..." She quickly looks back at Persephone and whispers, "Oh my god..."

Persephone's eye continues to twitch and she continues to stammer. The smell of burning flesh grows stronger now. Finally, whatever internal struggle was occurring subsides and Persephone's eyes become clear. Her eyes narrow as she turns her baleful gaze upon her little sister. She speaks, her voice absolutely emotionless. Matter-of-factly, she says, "I lied to you about why he and I broke up, you know. I told you it was because he wanted to travel and I wanted to stay and work on my startup. The truth is I found out he was sleeping with pretty much anyone who would let him. Last I heard, he had contracted several STIs, so you may want to get yourself checked." Circe looks stunned, as all the blood drains from her face.

She turns to Benji and Yasmine and says, "This is ridiculous. I have a date and you are wasting my time." She waves her hand dismissively, turns on her heel, and walks out.

"Fascinating." Yasmine says, seemingly not caring about the family drama, but intrigued by the results. "You know, I think you may be able to overload the mark enough to cause it to burn off her... though I am not sure how safe that would be." There is a slight emphasis on 'you', meaning Circe, and not just anyone in general, having this overload ability.

"Would you say that was a characteristic reaction... or was it... Hmm... meaner than usual?" She asks curiously.

Circe stares, agape, as Persephone saunters out. She turns to face Yasmine when addressed and only blinks for a solid minute. Finally, she stammers, "Um, meaner... WAY meaner... Um, I need to go..." She takes out her phone and begins fumbling a web search for nearby clinics.

Meanwhile, Persephone heads back to her condo to prepare for Viv's arrival.

Benji has been watching the interpersonal drama unfold with a horrified expression, not daring to interrupt. He winces as the door slams shut behind Persephone on her way out.
"Sorry about all that," he says to Yasmine, sheepishly, in the silence that follows. "And thank you for your help."
