@Psybermagi what text colors would work for you? Are you using dark mode?
Sep 5, 2025 7:59 pm
I use both light and dark
red is easy to read but I tend to use that for emphasis if needed, mostly as DM Blue is fine , Green is ok as well. Navy is fine
Cyan is a bit too light for me Lime is not as bad but still not good Pink is worse
And when to toggle light/dark mode it flips most text colors so the difficulty is constant.

Got it, I'll go with green!
Sep 5, 2025 8:01 pm
Huh, three characters already all in the greenish section of the spectrum.

I typically just go bold for speech but if color is desired I would likely go blue

I'll admit, I'm also on team Bold. Works with whatever theme the user chooses, after all.

On the topic of direct speech, one thing that I trip over is direct speech without any quote markers (even when it's bolded and/or coloured).

I will work on that then

A different world where world-reserve hegemonies' currencies aren't used widely across the world?
15 posts and we're already asking how you use electronic fiat currency in a balkanized postapocalypse where there's barely interstate telecom systems, much less national or international internet.

Peak Rifts.

Um... Magic? Where is Gringots?
Rifts noob here

'tis a silly place.

Ha! Give it a few more posts and we’ll be trying to implement a new rifts pyramid scheme!

I typically use color as my posts will often include multiple people talking. It helps me reading the preview to read the different sides of conversation. I will try to be diligent about using quotes as well.

...I forget, do pyramids cap leyline nexuses, or was that an Exalted thing?
Sep 7, 2025 12:18 am
Pyramids built on Ley Line Nexuses do some bananas stuff. That's Atlantean Stone Magic.

Manses built on demesnes in Exalted make hearthstones.

I totally stole that story from a jimmy John’s poster :)

I'm not going to lie, when I saw Goizeder tie that Stunt to Forceful, I was expecting some Dragonball Z power up effects from it. Rumbling earth, little incidental items drifting into the air, a roaring bonfire of layered psionic potential, all that jazz.

I had the same idea

JoshuaMabry says:
OOC:
Scale only affects actions between two things with scale, not Creating an Advantage.
Regarding this, I'd like to ask for the clarification here. I have no qualms with the current outcome, but I'd like to make sure that I understand how things work in the future and adjust accordingly. So it seems I misunderstood something in the past discussion and I'd like to be put on the right path.

vicky_molokh says:
Oh, another Scale question: DFA183 says that it can grant extra Free Invocations on CaAs after the roll; does that depending on the intent of the CaA (e.g. gathering strength as a CaA against a Passive Opposition, with the intent to later use those Invocations on the Attack against a lower-scale Target), or based on the explicit target of the CaA (e.g. doing CaA on oneself as a buff gives the normal number of Invocations, but doing CaA on the enemy as a TK-grapple gives extra Invocations)?
DFA183 entry that I'm referring to says:

When applying scale to two opposing forces or individuals, compare each
side’s level and then apply one of the following benefits to whichever is scaled
higher:
  • +1 per scale level to their action before the roll
  • +2 per scale level to the result after the roll, if the roll succeeds
  • 1 free invocation per scale level on a successful advantage after the roll
JoshuaMabry says:
@vicky_molokh I think the intent of the CaA roll is most important.
I, it seems incorrectly, understood the response as meaning that the third benefit of the Scale depends on who's the intended enemy for using those Free Invocations (and I was assuming that there's some shooting enemy whom we'll soon confront, since the scene seems framed as a traditional banter-then-jump-into-action opening scene). Which parts am I mistaken about, and what expectations should I have for the future uses?

Wouldn't DBZ power-up be super-Flashy with its transformation sequences and flashing lights?

For the pre-combat form, I was mostly inspired by the Seethe action from the Old Republic, where the character begins boililng with power, ready to spring into action. Except, you know, less evil, heh.

If this is a bad fit, I could switch to the conventional (and likely Careful-based) 'find a moment of tranquility to recenter oneself before/during a conflict', but that wasn't how I envisioned Fort to be.
