@Psybermagi what text colors would work for you? Are you using dark mode?
Sep 5, 2025 7:59 pm
I use both light and dark
red is easy to read but I tend to use that for emphasis if needed, mostly as DM Blue is fine , Green is ok as well. Navy is fine
Cyan is a bit too light for me Lime is not as bad but still not good Pink is worse
And when to toggle light/dark mode it flips most text colors so the difficulty is constant.
Sep 5, 2025 8:00 pm
Got it, I'll go with green!
Sep 5, 2025 8:01 pm
Huh, three characters already all in the greenish section of the spectrum.
Sep 5, 2025 8:15 pm
I typically just go bold for speech but if color is desired I would likely go blue
Sep 6, 2025 4:05 am
I'll admit, I'm also on team Bold. Works with whatever theme the user chooses, after all.
Sep 6, 2025 5:46 am
On the topic of direct speech, one thing that I trip over is direct speech without any quote markers (even when it's bolded and/or coloured).
Sep 6, 2025 3:59 pm
I will work on that then

'tis a silly place.

Ha! Give it a few more posts and we’ll be trying to implement a new rifts pyramid scheme!

I typically use color as my posts will often include multiple people talking. It helps me reading the preview to read the different sides of conversation. I will try to be diligent about using quotes as well.

...I forget, do pyramids cap leyline nexuses, or was that an Exalted thing?
Sep 7, 2025 12:18 am
Pyramids built on Ley Line Nexuses do some bananas stuff. That's Atlantean Stone Magic.

Manses built on demesnes in Exalted make hearthstones.

I totally stole that story from a jimmy John’s poster :)

I'm not going to lie, when I saw Goizeder tie that Stunt to Forceful, I was expecting some Dragonball Z power up effects from it. Rumbling earth, little incidental items drifting into the air, a roaring bonfire of layered psionic potential, all that jazz.
Sep 9, 2025 12:39 am
I had the same idea

JoshuaMabry says:
OOC:
Scale only affects actions between two things with scale, not Creating an Advantage.
Regarding this, I'd like to ask for the clarification here. I have no qualms with the current outcome, but I'd like to make sure that I understand how things work in the future and adjust accordingly. So it seems I misunderstood something in the past discussion and I'd like to be put on the right path.

vicky_molokh says:
Oh, another Scale question: DFA183 says that it can grant extra Free Invocations on CaAs after the roll; does that depending on the intent of the CaA (e.g. gathering strength as a CaA against a Passive Opposition, with the intent to later use those Invocations on the Attack against a lower-scale Target), or based on the explicit target of the CaA (e.g. doing CaA on oneself as a buff gives the normal number of Invocations, but doing CaA on the enemy as a TK-grapple gives extra Invocations)?
DFA183 entry that I'm referring to says:

When applying scale to two opposing forces or individuals, compare each
side’s level and then apply one of the following benefits to whichever is scaled
higher:
  • +1 per scale level to their action before the roll
  • +2 per scale level to the result after the roll, if the roll succeeds
  • 1 free invocation per scale level on a successful advantage after the roll
JoshuaMabry says:
@vicky_molokh I think the intent of the CaA roll is most important.
I, it seems incorrectly, understood the response as meaning that the third benefit of the Scale depends on who's the intended enemy for using those Free Invocations (and I was assuming that there's some shooting enemy whom we'll soon confront, since the scene seems framed as a traditional banter-then-jump-into-action opening scene). Which parts am I mistaken about, and what expectations should I have for the future uses?

Wouldn't DBZ power-up be super-Flashy with its transformation sequences and flashing lights?

For the pre-combat form, I was mostly inspired by the Seethe action from the Old Republic, where the character begins boililng with power, ready to spring into action. Except, you know, less evil, heh.

If this is a bad fit, I could switch to the conventional (and likely Careful-based) 'find a moment of tranquility to recenter oneself before/during a conflict', but that wasn't how I envisioned Fort to be.
Sep 10, 2025 10:42 am
Having never played in a fate system before... What happens now? Did Glyfix fail to identify where the shots were coming from? I don't really understand what Fort is doing mechanic-wise...

'Create an Advantage' is a category of actions that mostly exist to make some benefit that can be used later (though they also can be used to create new Aspects, which may have some limited direct effects already). Something that a Successful (and in some cases Tied) CaA does is create some number of Free Invocations either on the Aspect it creates (when making a new one) or on the Aspect it targets (in this case, that's Fort's High Concept of Psi-Warrior). These Invocations can later be used in later rolls to improve them (either adding a bonus, or re-rolling the dice, both after seeing the initial roll result).

I.e. Fort is gathering psionic strength before the battle, expecting to need to rely on it when all hell breaks loose.
Sep 10, 2025 4:24 pm
Ok, but that’s not something other characters would rely on right? It’s not like Cal could invoke that aspect in some way or get advantages from it?

This one? Under 99% of circumstances this one can only be Invoked by Fort. I suppose there might be some circumstances there could be cooperation going on where everyone is engaging in some activity where everyone's Invocations stack (e.g. lifting a huge rock together, where Gly's robotic strength and Fort's telekinesis could all contribute to whoever's making the primary Overcome roll).

But mostly Fort is not built for buffing others.

OTOH, as a hypothetical example, I played in some campaigns where one PC kept doing CaAs and passing the Invocations to others by DJing inspirational musing on the party's radio channel (that PC being named Lucy is prooobably coincidental).

I just want to apologize in advance because I'm going to be slow for a bit. Caught Covid while taking care of my SO, and so there's a fever baking my noodle at the moment. I'll be active again once the fever breaks.

What's the zone map and the Scene Aspects? Also, do we get the write-ups of the opposition, or is it a 'blind' campaign?

If think I'm going to make a jump-out-and-engage-the-enemy post, but the abovementioned factors would influence how it makes sense to write/do that.

Also, I'm still unsure where I misunderstood things.

1. I'm confused on how to reconcile multiple statements on the interaction Scale and CaAs (for future use), as outlined here.
2. I'm very unsure of the details of the Scene and opposition (this matters for what sort of actions are sensible/viable), such as Zones*, Aspects, write-ups and the like.

I suppose my posts on the matter may be not well written; which parts should I rephrase / which parts are unclear or what sort of ambiguities are there about them?

* Edit: I see Zones have been clarified in the next post.

@vicky_molokh

1: I think I understand now. As I've interpreted the rules, scale doesn't apply when creating an advantage/aspect, but rather when it's invoked. Does that clear that up?

2: I want you all to discover the aspects of your opponents through play, rather than me sharing them with you from the onset of a scene.

1. So to make sure I understand correctly, by 'when Invoked', do you mean that the third option from DFA page 183 is delayed until when the Advantage is cashed in (option A), or do you mean that it's removed from our campaign (option B).
[ +- ] Example Option A
[ +- ] Example Option B
2. Ah, got it.

@vicky_molokh The first example is the way I play it.

Thanks, now everything seems clear. I'll be waiting for my turn then. (And good thing I didn't post after the first action, as I was considering hopping out of the vehicle and jumping into the fray already.)

So, just for my own understanding, are we doing the Skelebots as a mook squad and then the two CS Grunts as individuals?
Sep 14, 2025 10:17 pm
@Celestine Sounds good to me. 🙂

I'll have a post up tonight after I get back from work.

So... what's the condition of all the NPCs we have been blasting?
Sep 24, 2025 7:11 pm
I’m sorry I haven’t posted the last few days. The real world’s been kicking my butt. I’ll have something up in the next twenty four hours or so.

I see the game is retired, but a GMly activity within one day, but no official announcements. What happened?
