1: I think I understand now. As I've interpreted the rules, scale doesn't apply when creating an advantage/aspect, but rather when it's invoked. Does that clear that up?
2: I want you all to discover the aspects of your opponents through play, rather than me sharing them with you from the onset of a scene.
1. So to make sure I understand correctly, by 'when Invoked', do you mean that the third option from DFA page 183 is delayed until when the Advantage is cashed in (option A), or do you mean that it's removed from our campaign (option B).
[ +- ] Example Option A
The Redcap is Legendary and Harry is Otherworldly.
Redcap rolls a Physique CaA (e.g. either picking a huge rock to throw at Harry, or outright grappling Harry). The Redcap Succeeds by 1 Shift (and did not take the Scale pre-roll Skill bonus), which is a base one Invocation.
Next Exchange, the Redcap attacks Harry and rolls a 1-Shift Success (and did not take the Scale pre-roll Skill bonus). Now Redcap takes the +2 Shifts from the 1-Scale post-roll benefit and cashes in both the base 1 Invocation and the extra +1 Invocation gained from the third line of the Scale benefits, for a total of 1+2+2=5 Shifts.
[ +- ] Example Option B
The Redcap is Legendary and Harry is Otherworldly.
Redcap rolls a Physique CaA (e.g. either picking a huge rock to throw at Harry, or outright grappling Harry). The Redcap Succeeds by 1 Shift (and did not take the Scale pre-roll Skill bonus), which is a base one Invocation.
Next Exchange, the Redcap attacks Harry and rolls a 1-Shift Success (and did not take the Scale pre-roll Skill bonus). Now Redcap takes the +2 Shifts from the 1-Scale post-roll benefit and cashes in both the base 1 Invocation, but does not get any extra benefits beyond that; a net Harm is 1+2=3 Shifts.
2. Ah, got it.
