Amidst the chaos, Showstopper would find herself joined on the roof by the clunking of metal boots emitting from an armored figure. The armor is predominantly silver like aluminum and orange with the iconography of Brawndo, the energy drink supposedly favored by the most x-treme of athletes but more commonly by your average layabout and nerd. Its helmet bears a tinted visor, and on its back is a rack of ammunition, a belt feeding into an arm cannon mounted alongside the right arm of the suit. A booming, modulated voice speaks, deeply suggestive of the ego of its wearer.

"Having a little trouble there, kid?" Brawndo Man laughs. "I gotta tell you, unlike some of our competitors and their fetid, run-down distilleries, you'll never find a bug like that when you crack open a cold, shocking can of Brawndo."

Cupping their hand, the armored figure yells to Inkredible. "Go for the jaw, drippy! That's what I'd do!"
OOC:
Brawndo Man enters at E5,next to Showstopper. I refrain from a Quick Action for now,but use my Full Action to Give Orders to Inkredible, giving him +1 die to his next attack against the Man-tis for every 6 I roll.

Man-tis
Anne starts loosing the molecular bonds of the Man-tis armor, but there is so much of it! All she manages is a small patch, while the rest of it remains as strong as steel. The Man-tis does not even look at her, or the new arrival. It entire focus is to cut the man who hurt it in half.
OOC:
sorry, he somehow managed to resist with only 2 dice ;(
Brwando Man did roll a whole lot of 6's though. For every success, Inkredible will get an extra die for his next attack roll.

Annette shakes from the exertion as she focuses on trying to weaken the chitin plates but Man-tis is enormous... it's not working...

She points both hands out at the monster now, hands shaking, teeth clenched...

She screams with determination...

Her nose bleeds...
OOC:

Pushing to Nullify Man-tis Protection Power - (3d6)

Anne reaches into herself and pushes. The massive chitin plates of the Man-tis begin to yield. It softened like warm clay, soft enough to tear through with one's bare hands.
OOC:
Armor is nullified, and the Man-tis is vulnerable, at the very least until the start of Anne's next turn

Suddenly hearing Brawndo Man’s heavy footsteps beside her, Showstopper visibly jumps in a brief moment of panic.

"HOLY SH- oh wait, phew, some backup."

She leans forward, hands on her knees, catching her breath as her eyes wander between Man-tis and the injured officer. With newly arrived help and Man-tis’ attention diverted, she feels like there’s an opportunity here that someone needs to act fast on.

"I don’t know if that fella down there’s got much time, I’m going for the rescue. Thanks for the support and uhhh, advertisement…?"

She looks back to Brawndo Man mid-sentence and trails off, brow furrowed in a little confusion, as she registers his comments and recognizes the logo and color scheme on his suit. With a lot of questions and no time to ask them, she puts those thoughts on hold and slides down a nearby downspout to get to ground level. Running over to the injured officer, she immediately tries to get them out of harms way (relatively speaking).
OOC:
Quick action: Does this count as moving from an elevated altitude back to the ground? If so, I’ll use my quick action to do this. Full action: Save Bystanders in E5 (so just the cop I think). It seems like the attribute you roll for here varies? So I’ll edit this once I know which to use.

The impacts came fast despite the thing's size, each massive limb connecting, knocking Inkredible on his ass followed by another drawing equal parts blood and bile that spew across his chest. His vision blurs, another hit and he'd be the bug getting squashed. The ink shifts, sensing an opportunity, perhaps the last to survive. It spikes off the ground, forcing Inkredible to his feet before extending itself further, covering more, controlling more. His vision and senses recover in time to hear the bravado from on high. The jaw, yes. That would work. Ink contracts, muscles pulling in tandem, and in a burst Inkredible launches at the Man-tis, arm cocked to drive as much spite as he could into the damn things jaw.

OOC:
I seperated the extra 3d6 just incase I got it wrong. I assume no armor so not gonna stress. Pushed cause I'm bad hurt and can. If those extras count I'll do double damage (8) and Stun if it isn't dead.

Man-tis
The Man-tis raises his arm to protect its head, putting it between Inkredible’s fist and it’s human-like jaw. It’s not enough. The fist hits its arm first. The limb just folds backward in an ugly angle. The head follows. The side of its face caves in. The creature wails in a human-like cry, before staggering, and toppling down.

It hits the asphalt on its side, and doesn’t get up again. The antennae’s twitch once. It’s brown eyes flutter, then close for the last time.
OOC:

The police officers huddled behind the cruisers stare at awe. The monster that was impervious to bullets is down to the floor. There is a mess of Anne-bodies on the floor, blood everywhere, and between them, the Heroes who saved the day.
A moment later, they all spring into action.

"Central, subject is down. Repeat, subject is down. Send EMS, now. We’ve got an officer down and civilians in the bus."

Two officers stay on the radio, the rest come out from behind the cars. They walk in a loose half circle toward the body, with their guns aimed ta the ground, waiting for the creature to so much as twitch and they’ll put a round through its head.
OOC:
fight is over. Showstopper, you can make the last roll to save the officer. You can post at your leisure, investigate the scene, or just bask in your awesomeness! ;)

Annette takes a deep breath, exhausted from her wounds and pushing her powers further than she's ever had before.

She looks at the mass of dead Anne-Tibodies, severed in different ways from Man-tis' arm-scythes.

Her face cracks with emotion. They saved her life. All of them.

Annette takes another breath, then heads to the officer on the radio to Central.

"Officer," she says, then gestures at the Anne-Tibodies, "If you could please have a biohazard team handle... my bodies. They need to be incinerated immediately. It's a... public health issue."

She didn't want the Institute to somehow get their hands on a tissue sample to study. Especially with this much tissue on hand with which to attempt to reverse engineer what she had. What was inside her.

What they'd made her create.

What they wanted.

An observer of any sort would not miss the fact that Brawndo Man's contribution to the battle was relatively brief, if especially decisive in the moment. However, the boisterous persona had to perform for the cameras no matter what, and so they hopped down to the ground, striding over to the remains of the Man-tis and putting their foot firmly on its head, flashing a jaunty pose and thumbs up to a small drone that descended to capture the footage of the group's "victory" for promotional material.

"And THAT is how you deal with pests, Brawnies! Next time a creepy crawly tears up the neighborhood, don't run away! Pop open a can of Brawndo, take a big gulp, and terrorize it right back!" Punctuating that statement, a chilled can pops out of their arm cannon with a FOOMP and they catch it, handing it to a nearby police officer. "Give it a try, officer. You'll be as brawny as me in no time! First one's free!"
Sep 21, 2026 1:01 am
Flux sat down on the curb, looking the aftermath of the battle over. He had been so sure he would have been able to handle it he had overlooked everything short of basic tactics. All the options he could have done ran through his head as he rested his head on his knees and mentally ran each moment of the battle through his head. He felt so useless...
Sep 21, 2026 2:44 am
Inkredible joined Flux on the curb, hand clutching his ribs as he eased himself down to lay back. The ink had receded after the desperate uppercut, now resting as a mundane tattoo along his arm.

"That sucked."

The words huffed out like a tired joke. He turns after a silent few moments to look him over, noting the hunched signs of disappointment.

"Hey, not everyday you fight a big fuck off bug person. Turned out better than had we not shown up. That's the point, yeah?"
Sep 21, 2026 6:21 am
As the Man-tis was taken down, Showstopper had been trying, to no avail, to get the injured officer away from the battlefield. She turned to see Man-tis’ death throes, before turning back around to see medical personnel and police officers rushing towards the scene. Realizing they were better equipped for this than her, Showstopper moved away from the downed officer but lingered close by as help arrived.

"I uh- I tried to help but um… i-is he gonna be ok?"

She says this to nobody in particular and watches on, concern apparent in her eyes, fearful that she had needed to get him out of harms way sooner.
Sep 21, 2026 6:57 am
Two of the officers break away from the half circle around the Man-tis corpse and run for the school bus. They reach the door, and push it open. A moment passes, then the first kid comes out – a girl with a backpack on her shoulders, her face wet with tears. Then behind her the rest of them, almost fifty kids from Meramec Elementary, second grade to fifth judging by their heights.

Some of them are crying, but a few are downright exhilarated; it’s not every day that you see real superheros up so close, bringing down a terrible monster. The ones who didn’t understand how much danger they were actually in, stare at heroes, their mouth hanging open with awe.

None of the children are hurt. The bus is a little dented, and there is a hole in it were one of the barbed arm went through the metal, but luckily, you all arrived before the Man-tis opened the bus like a tin can.

The parents are already coming more and more cars stopped a block away from the intersection. Fathers, mothers, grabbing and hugging the little children, with a ‘thank you, thank you, thank you’, (and more then a few who thank god rather than you).

Ambulances are here as well. So many of them. Most of them are not actually needed, except perhaps scoop up the remains of Anne-Tibody(s) from the floor. And then not even that, because once the doctor told them the bodies are a bio-hazard, the police put a yellow line to restrict access to the area as they wait for the bio-hazard team to arrive in their hazmat suits.

The only one who does end up being evacuated is officer Darcy. He is missing one of his legs, and his face is as white as a sheet of paper. He is unresponsive as they lift him off the ground, and the ambulance quickly carries him to the ER. Nobody there could tell showstopper if he will be alright or not.

Above you two news chopper already hover. A van from Channel 5 hits the curb hard as it comes to a stop. Door opens, reports rush into the scene, followed by the camera crews. All of them want to be the first to bring live pictures from the scene – and hopefully, be the first (if not only) to get a statement out of the superheros.

But the news reporters are not the first. Every window on the block had a phone pointed at the action. The entire fight is already on the internet; Anne distracting the creature, Showstoper putting shots into the creature from the rooftop, Flux charging in, Inkredible’s fist going through its jaw – and the Brawndo man posing over the corpse. Pictures of the little children disembarking the bus, all safe. You were unknown yesterday. Today you are all going to be on the national news.

Do you stay to talk with the reporters, or disappear where you come from?

And more important questions, perhaps: what was that creature? where did it came from? and...are there any more?

Officer Miller
One of the officers slowly approaches the Brawndo Man, who stands on the corpse with a foot over its head. He looks at the massive arm cannon, and very visibly decides NOT to ask him if he has a license for that. He looks at the can of Brawndo and shakes his head once.

"Appreciate it, but I can’t drink on the job" he looks around. The other officers are already scurrying around. The camera crews have to be told not to approach, then forced back away from the scene. He looks back at the man (he assumes it’s a man) in the powered armor, then at the others

"Who are you guys?"
OOC:
+1 reputation to everyone!

Annette sticks around to help the Biohazard Team collect the dead Anne-Tibodies, then travels with them to ensure they are incinerated completely.

She also takes a sample of tissue from Man-tis for research.

Once she's confirmed the Biohazard Team has destroyed the Anne-Tibodies, Annette returns to the Power Posse's base to investigate that tissue from Man-tis.

"What, you think I'm putting on a mask to announce that to the first person that asks? We go by The Power Posse if you want something to tell folks. Just your friendly neighborhood helpers when things get out of hand."

He takes the drink from Brawndo and downs a few gulps before hooking a thumb at the man-corpse.

"Speaking of which, any idea where that thing scuttled out from? Not an easy thing to miss given it makes a bus look small."
Sep 21, 2026 10:45 pm
Showstopper watches Officer Darcy be escorted away and stares down at the ground for a few moments before taking a deep breath.

"You did your best partner, don’t beat yourself up over a victory."

She mumbles this to herself and tries to regain her composure, looking up from the ground and scanning the crowd for her team. Upon spotting them, she warps close by to avoid wading through any crowds, just in time to hear Inkredible’s question about the Man-tis.

"And while we’re talking about that monster, I’m curious if y’all have seen anything like it before."

Having reappeared a few feet to Miller’s left, she says this to him as she takes a seat with Inkredible and Flux. She starts looking around at the surrounding media members kind of nervously as she awaits Miller’s response.

Agent White
Anne is allowed to board the Hazardous Material Recovery Unit. The interior is refrigerated lined up with polymer bags, containing the remains of her copies. All of them were tagged, closed, and stacked at the back. Where she rides as well, together with two men in sealed white suits sitting on the bench across from her.

They don’t talk, or give her their names, nor do they ask for hers. They treat her, unsurprisingly, as one of the ‘public health issues’. After all....the samples they collected all looked exactly like her. A few minutes later, the call finally comes in. One of them takes out his phone, gives it a quick look, nod at the other man, then hands the phone to Anne.

It’s a video call, and on the screen is a woman in her mid forties.

"Hello. I’m Agent White. Global Defense Agency" she waits for a bit, then continues "I’ve been told you requested incineration. That you used the words public health issue. I need you to tell me, in your own words, what you know about this biohazard. Starting with why those remains cannot go to a city morgue."

"Power Posse" officer Miller repeats the name, committing it to memory. He then looks at Inkredible "do you have your own call name...?" it would be easier to know how to call each of them. When Showstopper appeared out of thin air, he takes a step back in surprise, before gathering his composure

"Umm. Hello ma'am. Thank you. For saving the day"

He then goes back to Inkredible's question.

"No. We’ve never seen anything like that. Omni-Man took out a kaiju outside San Francisco a few months back, but that creature was huge; dwarfing this creature over here. And Kaiju don't have faces, or hair, or look anything human" he shakes his head "Can't tell where it came from either. It didn’t walk up Chippewa, I can tell you that. Maybe it flew in. Leapt in. Or even got dropped by someone. Didn't talk with any witnesses yet, or checked the street cameras" he glances at the vans, and the kids behind them

"I don't know if that is something you can help us with too; finding where it came from. Even if we do find out, I think it might be beyond the capabilities of the police force to handle"
