Atticus takes the sickle, turning it over once in his hand before looking back at Garram and Bart.

"Right. Freeing the trees, then." he snorts, giving the sickle a little passive-aggressive wave toward the two metal-clad slackers who don't need to do any of the work.

He then moves toward the thicket and crouches beside one of the saplings, studying the way the weeds have grown around it before making the first cut. Rather than hacking away at the vegetation, he works methodically, following the natural gaps and cutting only what is actually choking the young tree. Every so often, he pauses to inspect the growth before deciding where to cut next, applying the often-undervalued skill known as spatial reasoning to the task.

"Never been much good at brute force." He applies another careful slice. "Fortunately, most problems have a solution that doesn't require it." He mutters as he sets to work. Of course, though he's confident in his efforts, that is no guarantee that they will succeed...

Few hours you cleared the stubborn stalks, the heavy silence of the woods fueling your growing worry that the druid might never return. Just as the anxiety peaks, the brush parts, and he steps back into the young grove, his eyes slowly sweeping over the cleared grass and the newly freed saplings before giving a single, firm nod.

He reaches into his leather pouch, pulls out two vials of crimson liquid, and thrusts them toward the two PCs who did the work. His gaze locks onto yours, his voice low and blunt:
Folks talk. Say druids only care for trees, not people He pauses, slipping the potions into your hands. Fools. I know gratitude. Take them.
OOC:
Atticus and Krynt please add one potion of healing to your inventory each
The druid nods once, dismisses any words of thanks with a sharp wave of his hand, and turns his attention to your next destination. He speaks in short, deliberate bursts, pointing a calloused finger into the distance:
Follow the sun. Go until the dead oak. Turn left. Keep the sun at your right hand. Find the small hill. Climb it

He stops, shifting his gaze directly to the Atticus, pointing toward his owl. Send the bird high. It will see the three great trees on the ridge. That is your path.
OOC:
You will make that path with no ability checks required and find the next checkpoint where I will start my next post at, jut want to give you chance to do you role play before we depart

Krynt give back the sickle to the old man, then moved to the party.

Krynt look at Bartholomew, look tired, but nodded at him, finally making something useful to the party.

"So, where should we do next?" He asked to Bartholomew, Atticus, and Garran.

You find the road and follow that road bypassing the hill and approaching the bridge than looks quite similar to one on the map
[ +- ] MAP
The winding mountain path narrows, squeezed between jagged grey rocks and a forest of weeping pines that seem to lean inward, blotting out the sky. Ahead, the solid ground simply ends, cut off by a deep, breath-catching gorge.Spanning the chasm is the bridge. It is an old, sagging wooden structure, its timber blackened by rot and slick with a dark, greasy moss. Far below, the river is a distant, roaring whisper, hidden entirely beneath a heavy, churning blanket of grey mist that rises from the depths like smoke. As you stand at the threshold, the wind dies down to an eerie, unnatural absolute silence. The only sound is the sudden, sharp caw of a single raven sitting on the rotting handrail. It watches you with glassy, obsidian eyes.
Even though you haven't stepped onto the wood yet, the proximity to the bridge does something to the air. A sudden, heavy chill settles into your chest. It isn't just cold—it feels like an emotional bruise. An uninvited shadow creeps into your thoughts, a collective cocktail of negative intuition. You feel a sudden, passing prickle of irritation at each other; a fleeting thought that this entire journey is doomed to fail; and a sharp, sudden awareness of just how fragile your bodies are against the rocks below.
Right now, it is just a faint, unsettling whisper in the back of your heads—a warning from the environment itself.
The bridge lies open before you, vanishing into the grey mist over the center of the gorge.
OOC:
The bridge is a narrow, 60-foot span of rotting wood suspended 80 feet above a jagged rocky gorge, where the misty bottom is entirely hidden from view.
What do you do? I guess cross the bridge, but maybe anything you do before crossing the bridge?

Points at the raven. Too bad we can't fly like that bird. Looks at the ragged bridge. Maybe we should go across one at a time. We don't want to put too much weight on the bridge. Lightest person first, or I'll volunteer to go first with my heavy armor, ha.

"What the hell," Garran exclaims, staring at the bridge. "That bridge barely looks like it can hold itself up."

He cautiously approaches the bridge and carefully tests its strength by pressing one foot onto the first plank.

"Be careful, and be ready" Krynt plainly warn Garran.
OOC:
so, Garran is infront of the bridge? Guess krynt is 25~ feet from Garran🤷

Atticus stops a few paces short of the bridge. His eyes move over the handrails, the planks, the supports, then down toward the mist below. The chill in his chest doesn't escape his notice either. He takes a slow drag from his pipe, watching the smoke drift in the unnatural stillness.

"Well. That's encouraging." He glances at the raven. "Anyone else getting the distinct impression there is something... afoot?"

As Garran goes to test the boards the old fashioned way, Atticus scrunches up his nose. The scene of a lonely rotten bridge over the perilous mountain gorge is a little too familiar in a way he can't quite place, and he decides the moment calls for his particular brand of magical detective work.

Stepping away from the bridge and crouching, he draws a precise circle into the dirt with one gloved finger, then dusts the outline with rocksalt. He takes a pair of lodestones from his component pouch, holds them in his open palm, and begins to mutter under his breath. He traces geometric symbols in the air with his free hand, quietly reciting the words of the ritual. The scattered salt gives a faint, almost imperceptible shimmer as he works.

"If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But if I'm right, we want to know about it."

While you are waiting 10 minutes for Atticus to perform ritual Krynt don't see any movement or hear any sound other that that of the raven.

Garran takes that time to observe the bridge more closely. Soon he realizes that the massive support beams anchored deep into the rock are surprisingly solid. This structure has weathered years of brutal mountain storms; the weight of four adventurers is nothing compared to that. The real danger here isn't the bridge collapsing, nor the rotted planks giving way.
You realize this the moment the first of you takes a step onto the timber. That faint, unsettling whisper you felt in the back of your heads? It doesn't just fade—it snaps into sharp focus, swelling into a cold, suffocating pressure inside your skulls. The rotten wood won't break your fall, but whatever is feeding that whisper might just break your mind. That is the real threat ahead

Finally Atticus could confirm what Garran suspected already - whole bridge bear magic - you see a faint aura around all the bridge, but you can't learn the spell’s school of magic, which means this magic effect was not created by a spell, that's something ancient not an effect left by one arcane user

Garran takes a few steps away from the bridge, trying to shake off the agonizing whispers in his head. He drops to his knees and rubs his forehead.

"Something fucking evil is in my head. Atticus, make it stop!"
Sep 24, 2026 1:23 pm
"Shite!" Atticus spits through gritted teeth and clutches his head. He's already moving towards Garran before he finishes speaking, and his eyes remain fixed on the bridge.

"Don't step back onto it. Not alone, at least. The whole bloody thing is enchanted. Ancient magic, too. I can't identify a spell because there isn't one." He stops short of the bridge's threshold, glances toward the others, then back to Garran.

"Get away from the bridge. Whatever it's doing, it clearly gets worse the closer you get." He takes another drag from his pipe, thinking. A cursory glance towards the Raven causes his eyebrow to rise and he is momentarily distracted.

"It doesn't appear to be affecting this little fellow, though..."
Sep 24, 2026 1:32 pm
"Whatever the sorcery it is," Krynt move along with Atticus, and also stop the same threshold where Atticus is standing.

"…we prepare for it." Krynt already draw his longbow. Then he look at Atticus, and plainly say "What should we do? Cross the magical bridge?"

Kaelynn hurried along the uneven path, one hand holding her cloak close. She had stayed behind to see an important responsibility through to its end. Now she hurried toward the bridge, hoping she hadn’t arrived too late to join the others. Their voices reached her through the mist before the bridge came into view.

"Get away from the bridge. Whatever it’s doing, it clearly gets worse the closer you get."

She quickened her pace at the warning. When she reached the group, she saw Garran down on his knees, rubbing his forehead, while the others stood near the dark span over the gorge.

"Are we turning back?" she asked. From farther down the path, it had sounded as though they might abandon the crossing. Seeing Garran’s distress, she understood their hesitation. She stopped beside the others, just short of the bridge’s threshold.

There, Kaelynn conferred with Atticus about his ritual findings: the aura across the whole bridge and the fact that he could not identify a spell school.

Kaelynn studied the bridge, searching her memory of old books and weathered accounts for anything that might explain the dread pressing on the group. Her studies had included old wards and warnings, but she could not tell whether any story truly matched this place.

"Could this be some kind of old ward?" she said, weighing the thought. "I’ve read stories of places that filled travelers with dread, though I don’t know whether they described real magic or fear given a name. I can’t say what this bridge is doing or why."
OOC:
Kaelynn searches her memory of ancient tomes for anything resembling this bridge’s magic. I’ve added Arcana and History rolls; please use whichever check fits your ruling, and let me know what, if anything, she recalls.
Her fingers touched the small silver pendant at her throat. She looked from Garran to the bridge. "I want to know where the map in that tome leads, and why the raven left it for us. I have faith that the Goddess watches over me, though I know you may not share it. If this bridge is the way forward, we need to cross. I’ll go first, and you can follow when you’re ready."

Keeping her shield close, Kaelynn moved to the first plank and set one boot upon it, ready to lead the way across.

Kaelynn can't recall any book describing similar magic, which proves it is unique magical effect rather than well known spell, she also have a feeling that that the magic is amplifying your natural fears rather than inserting artificial fear into your brain - you will actually be fighting yourself, while walking the bridge, not an enemy

Before Bartholomew gets far onto the bridge, Kaelynn reaches for the holy symbol at her throat. Atticus and Garran had already felt the bridge's influence press hard against them, and Bartholomew was bravely moving ahead. She murmurs a brief prayer to the Goddess, asking that they be given strength for the crossing.
OOC:
Kaelynn casts Aid on Garran, Atticus, and Bartholomew. Each target's current and maximum HP increase by 5 for 8 hours.
A gentle warmth spreads through Garran, Atticus, and Bartholomew, a quiet reassurance settling beneath the chill and dread. Kaelynn lowers her hand, her expression steady. She cannot promise what waits on the bridge, but hopes the Goddess will sustain them through it.

Bartholomew insists on going first and moves along the bridge while others are waiting

Everyone could see Bartholomew moving as though their boots are made of solid iron and their pack is filled with lead. Looks like every step requires immense physical effort.
