As the teens leave St. Mike's the shadows are lengthening as the sun is approaching the horizon.

Traffic is considerably less than a few hours before.

What is the team's plan.

"uhhhhhhh, guys? The s-s-sun is going down.. we should probably get home before dark..... right? he says nervously.
Aug 16, 2026 6:50 pm
If we want to sleep or chat definitely...but if we want to seek this creature out we should probably head to the areas where it was sighted Her eyes glinting with an excited gleam

Deone makes a dissapointed noise and says "m-maybe it's not a d-d-demon anyway, they said it was e-e-e-electric right? Maybe we should check if that's got anything to do with where it shows up? "There aren't electric d-d-demons are there, Yiva?" he says nervously
Aug 16, 2026 8:37 pm
Depends on what you classify as a demon to be honest; as many cultures just didn't classify the mystical creatures they encountered as demons. But if we go with a loose interpretation, several. She starts counting on her fingers. Christian Furfur, Slavic Płanetnik, Japanese Raiju, and thats not counting the possibility it's a creature that hasn't been on Earth before
Aug 16, 2026 10:50 pm
"w-w-wait! You're saying they could be ALIENS now? he says distressedly before calming himself down "W-well atleast it's got energy...... that's handy in case we have to fight"

@Smiley. as the temperature decreases from the daytime temperature to the low of 45F if the pcs are still searching at that point, Harper can raise the temp 5-10F which would dissipate the fog and slightly lessen the rain.

although Harper would have to move a little slower to be able to maintain the power.

Alice walks with a confident little swagger, hands clasped behind her back as she walked along with the rest of the class.

"Honestly? Mysticism isn't my thing so much, I don't know how much use I'm going to be against a potential extra-dimensional entity...if you guys wanted to back out and let the Order handle things, I wouldn't blame you." she said, rolling her shoulders slightly.

"...But sleeping when the psychosphere is this polluted with fear? Pretty unlikely. I want to help, if I can."
OOC:
Alice is going to use Mind Scan, but honestly with the unfamiliar mind and the wide net, the odds aren't super good.

She's also going to try her Mindsense (Discriminatory Mind Detection) - which should let me determine not only that minds are present but what kind of emotional state they're in. Could get lucky.

Lastly, I can use Mindlink on 8 Targets, so I can keep us all networked if we have to split up or something.

If I need to respond to something quickly, well, that's why I have some Flight.

Dressed in the blues and grays of your special program's uniforms, your team sets out into the night at approximately 8:00 PM. Those capable of sensing or seeing magical energies naturally take the lead, charting a course into the deep ink of a pitch-black dark. While a few sparse streetlights cast fractured, sickly pools of illumination onto the wet ground, the shadows here remain profoundly deep, swallowed up by frequent blind turns and the heavy, overhanging architecture of the old structures. Some of the structures remain warehouses, other old warehouses have been converted into other purposes.

What should have been a miserable trek through plunging temperatures and a blinding, dense fog is held comfortably at bay by Harper’s temperature control power. The fog is entirely gone, vaporized by the localized warmth, leaving only a steady, soaking rain. Thanks to the insulated fabric of your uniforms and the modified climate bubble, the constant downpour remains a manageable, completely comfortable backdrop rather than a chilly miserable night.

Progress is slow but steady, a deliberate pace necessitated by the need to keep the group contained within the moving radius of Harper’s environmental shield. Navigating the warehouse district feels like traversing a literal labyrinth, as you trace the meandering paths of what had been 17th and 18th-century streets. Time and again, a wide, promising alleyway curves organically through the stone facades, only to terminate abruptly against the massive, unyielding brick wall of a modern warehouse, forcing the team to backtrack and try the next path. Despite the constant dead ends, Ethan and Yiva can both feel the steady pull of their arcane senses. Their abilities signal with mounting clarity that you are drawing closer to a remarkably potent, concentrated source of magic.

Then, cutting through the steady, rhythmic patter of the rain, a sudden chorus of sound echoes wildly down the narrow corridors. It cascades through the stone brick channels like a chaotic medley of human screaming, animalistic yowling, manic laughing, and desperate crying. The noise is heavily distorted, twisted by the ancient walls into an unnatural, multi-layered screech that sounds less like any living creature and more like a chorus of something unholy agonizing in the dark. The acoustic distortion rips through the alleys, making the hairs on your arms stand up as the deeply unsettling, demonic resonance bounces from every direction at once, completely masking where the entity is hiding.

At this point Alice can attempt a mind scan with the assistance of Yiva and/or Ethan.
OOC:
earlier success was not possible due to distance and number of people in the area, most in their apartments, converted from the old warehouses.

Result of Magic KS rolls, you can see there is a large source of magic, but can't determine what it is (maybe you have never seen a comparable creature before).
you can determine that it is one creature, not changing location, and you should be in visual range in 20-40 minutes - at that point you can make another roll and/or make plans.

Its about half an hours walk away. I can't determine what it is from this distance, perhaps when I can see it with my eyes I can give you something else
Aug 18, 2026 10:52 pm
As you press deeper into the heart of the maze, methodically tracking the overwhelming magical resonance, the horrific, chaotic acoustics begin to shift. Step by step, as you pull away from the narrow bottlenecks and approach a wider junction where multiple historic alleys collide, the maddening echoes flatten out.

The demonic, multi-layered screeching dissolves, shedding its unnatural distortion until the unsettling wall of noise completely ceases. In its place stands a solitary, clear, and breathtakingly pure sound: a hauntingly somber melody, played in a sharp minor key with an agonizingly beautiful, masterful level of skill. The weep of the notes cuts through the ambient, warm drizzle of your climate bubble, weaving a complex piece that seems entirely out of place in this dark, gritty industrial maze.Sensing the absolute epicenter of the arcane signature, you carefully round the final blind corner and step into the open junction. The source finally comes into visual range.Huddled against a damp limestone facade is a surprisingly small, fragile figure. The moment your group emerges into the space, the intense minor melody abruptly hitches. The small being breaks into a ragged, hacking cough that echoes sharply off the surrounding warehouse walls, the strain of the damp air and sheer physical exhaustion visibly racking their slight frame. After a tense, breathless moment, the figure draws a sharp breath, resets the instrument against their shoulder, and begins a completely new, equally mesmerizing musical piece.

Roll Perception 3d6 to gain more details about the figure, their condition.

Roll 3d6 vs. PS: Music Skills or INT Skills to analyze the composition, recognize the piece, or gain deeper information about the technical nature of the music itself.

Provide any information on actions that are done. The figure is not reacting to any of the teens, so the group may talk/communicate to plan.

Judging from the forcefield around the violin and the Ghost's devotion to playing it, Deone deduces that the stresses of being a violinist must've had something to do with the ghost's existance, like a lingering regret or something, as it was a common trope in supernatural manga"This isn't a d-demon, it's a g-g-ghost! Some musician girl must've drove herself to d-d-d-death playing it, and now wants revenge for her s-s-suffering" he pauses for a moment, realizing he may be making too many assumptions based on horror tropes, and looks towards Yiva, the proffesional in these matters "I-i'm not sounding s-s-stupid am i?"
Aug 19, 2026 4:23 pm
Ignoring Dione's questions and Ethan's comment, Yiva grabs at one of the several necklaces she wears, and with a swift pull it quickly grows into a full sized lyre. She cautiously approaches the girl, improvising a hopeful piece to complement her somber one, hoping to grab her attention. Hey do you need some help?

The girl doesn't seem to notice Yiva. It does confirm some things for Yiva.
#1 The girt might be in poor health but she is no ghost.
#2 You will have to confirm with Alice, but you are leaning towards the girl having a number of psychological issues.
OOC:
you can ask additional questions about the girl for more information. or other actions.
Once the dirge is done, she will pause to listen and a coughing fit that one fears is going to make her fall,

Thanks Helsong. Her lyre shrinks down and becomes a small, if elaborate charm necklace in the shape of a wooden lyre that she puts around her neck again. Well I don't think she is magical, could be wrong. Though I'd hazard a guess that she either knows magic or that violin is some kind of artifact. Probably has some kind of psychological issues. Alice could probably get more info on that front; my talents with the mind fall more with tearing it up than analyzing it. I'll take a look at the violin and see what I can find. Try to avoid touching it though; if it's controlling her, she may get hostile.

Well you still don't know what she is exactly, but you definitely can tell the girl is using what magical energy she has to protect what looks to you like a cheap violin from the rain, but at the same time she isn't using that magic to protect herself.
Aug 21, 2026 3:34 am
Ethan watches Yiva carefully as the lyre collapses into its necklace form, impressed with her control of her arts. "I hope I can become such a master of my powers." he says more to himself.

Pulling himself back to the young girl his expression tightening as the implications begin to sink in.

"Yeah… I don’t like this."

His attention remains fixed on the violin rather than the girl.

"She’s protecting the instrument, but look at the cost. She’s soaked through, hypothermic, severely malnourished, hypoglycemic, and her lungs sound like they’re full of fluid. Yet she’s spending whatever magical energy she has keeping that violin completely untouched by the rain."

He glances briefly toward the others.

"That isn’t normal behaviour. Not even for someone who’s just… eccentric."

Ethan lowers his voice.

"I think the violin is draining her."

He watches the crimson aura surrounding the instrument.

"Think about it. She’s barely keeping herself alive, but she has enough energy to maintain a perfect magical barrier around a cheap-looking violin. Whatever is going on with her, that instrument aren’t just a possession."

He takes a cautious step closer, but deliberately keeps his hands away from the violin.

"I’m not touching it. Not yet. If it’s possessed, cursed, sentient, or otherwise controlling her, touching it could be exactly what it wants."

His eyes move back to the girl as another cough wracks her tiny frame.

"And if I’m wrong and the violin isn’t doing anything to her, we’re still standing next to someone who’s probably weeks away from dying."

Ethan’s expression hardens.

"Either way, we need to get her somewhere warm and get some food and fluids into her. Slowly. Carefully. Her body is in no condition for us to just start dumping things into her."

He pauses, listening to the unfamiliar words she mutters beneath her hood.

"But before anyone tries to take that violin away from her, I’d like Alice to have a look at her mind. If the instrument is influencing her behaviour, we need to know whether she understands what it’s doing."

Ethan looks toward the others.

"And if Alice finds out that the girl genuinely believes the violin needs protecting more than she does…"

His gaze settles once again on the crimson aura.

"…then I’m going to be even more convinced that we’ve found the problem."

Hearing Ethan's muttering. Oh don't worry about the shrinking thing, Helsong did that far before she and I got together. It's more of a subconscious thought than any actual magic to shrink it. Quite frankly I'm kind of failing on the magic front tonight. She moves away from the girl as Ethan does get closer to her. She closes her eyes and seems to focus on something only she can see.

I can tell you that upon closer inspection I can see the magic flowing from her to the violin and not vice versa. So it's pretty likely that that is a common violin, pretty cheap too, actually all of her stuff is pretty cheap. Probably been living on the streets for a while. I guess it could be some kind of relic that gives her magical capabilities that she has to power or some kind of parasitic relic, but I doubt it.

Yiva takes a while to listen to her music. She's damn good though. She mutters Love to do a duet with her one day. Yiva sits back while Ethan conducts his assessment.

But the fact she knows magik is wierd. She could be one of those rare prodigies who understand some form of magic on an instinctual level. Could be a mystical creature that integrated into human society, some of them like to do that. Could have been taught magik by someone. I hope its that last one, as magik communities tend to be close knit...though I don't know anyone in the community around here. As I said, kind of failing on the magik front tonight as I can't make heads or tails of her signature, so any of those are a possibility, or perhaps some 4th option. Though Incan tell you her signature is pretty weak

Yiva stretches her arms above her head and opens her eyes. But that's all the help I can give. Perhaps someone else could tell us more.

Harper slowly approaches the girl, keeping her movements calm and deliberate so she doesn't frighten her.
"Hey. My name is Harper." She offers a gentle smile and gestures toward the others. "These are my friends. We want to help."
She studies the girl's condition with growing concern.
"You don't look very good..." Harper says softly. "What's your name, dear?"
Aug 22, 2026 4:40 am
for the first time, the girl responds to one of the teens , ignoring the comment , the girl answers Harper's direct question.
.
The girl does not raise her gaze from the cobblestones of the alley, and the low volume she speaks in requires any listener to have to concentrate to hear her voice.

Harper also when concentrating also realizes that the girl is speaking in 4 languages interchangeably as in some of her words in the same sentience are in lightly accented (UK) English, perfect French, accented Irish, and accented Welsh, all in a perfectly pitched soprano ,
OOC:
I am just going to provide the translation that Harper forwards to the rest.
My name? my name is Elizabeth Wooding.

Harper also if she concentrates understand some of the other speaking she has been doing, again words swapping to one of the 4 languages mentioned earlier seemingly randomly swapping her language from word to word in the sentence. what others thought was Elizabeth talking to herself in some strange language, it seems to be in response to other people listening such as Yes, i can play that or my apologies i do not know that composition.

The only people that Harper can see in the alleyway is herself and the other teens and Elizabeth.
Aug 23, 2026 1:36 am
A few things happen at the same time.

12 men, enter the area from an adjoining alley, one of them is holding a box pointed at Elizabeth and exclaims, there she is, get her!

Elizabeth turns at the noise throws a red disk and makes one step into the disk, and is gone from the immediate area, taking her violin and case with her.

The 12 men are wearing similar clothing and all are bald, tattoos of snakes and swastikas are common on them. and they are carrying crude cudgels.

The temperature of the air seems to chill, and a shroud of darkness covers Yiva for just a second, a mournful chord rings out from the darkness, and just as quickly the darkness disapates. And She stands with a full set of armour, seemingly designed for cold weather, with a set of blue, glowing runes emblazoned on it, that quickly fade. She is holding the same lyre from previously in her hand. (like the avatar picture).

Her voice swells Logn deyr, hríðin vaknar! and 4 goons at the back of the group are suddenly engulfed in the middle of a blizzard, that dies down as suddenly as it appeared.

Sorry for the slow posting RL has been madness.
Ethan reacts the instant the red disk hits the ground.

The appearance of the portal is enough to make his instincts scream, but there is no time to think about what it is or where it leads. Elizabeth is already moving, one hand securing her violin and case as she takes that single step toward the glowing disk.

Ethan lunges.

His hand shoots out, aiming to catch her by the arm or the back of the oversized hoodie before she can disappear completely. His boots scrape against the alley pavement as he throws his weight forward, trying to close the last few feet between them.

"Elizabeth!" he barks, his voice sharp with urgency. "Wait!"

He isn’t trying to hurt her. The grab is instinctive—a desperate attempt to stop her from vanishing into an unknown portal with a group of armed thugs now entering the alley.

If he can get hold of her, Ethan will pull her back from the edge of the disk rather than simply dragging her toward himself, careful not to interfere with the violin or its case.

But if his fingers close on nothing but fabric—or worse, if the portal begins to take her despite his grip—Ethan immediately braces himself, refusing to let go without knowing exactly what the strange red disk is capable of.

Harper unleashes her control over the air currents . With an effortless, sweeping gesture, she strikes out with a concentrated blast of pressurized wind that roars through the claustrophobic brick corridor . The howling gale hammers directly into the vanguard of the advancing street thugs. Three of the men are hit square in the chest with the force of a vehicular impact; their boots lift cleanly off the wet cobblestones as they are thrown backward into some garbage crates. They hit the masonry hard and crumple to the ground in a motionless heap, each completely incapacitated

Ethan drives forward , he lunges to execute a secure grab to pin the shivering runaway before she can escape . Elizabeth is a little more dexterous than Ethan expected and slips into her red disk and disappearing. After Elizabeth disappears a tiny object was jarred loose from Elizabeth's quick motions and is left behind, her smudged, dark tinted prescription lenses hit the pavement . The wire frames twist and the delicate lenses shatter completely against the hard cobblestones,

The sudden disappearance leaves Ethan’s hands grasping at empty air.

He barely has time to register the flash of red before his attention is drawn downward by the faint tink of something striking the cobblestones.

Glasses?

Ethan’s eyes flick briefly toward the remaining four thugs. The fight is still very much alive, but Harper’s blast has changed the odds dramatically. Eight down. Four left.

He moves.

Keeping his body low and his attention divided between the surviving attackers and the ground at his feet, Ethan crouches just long enough to scoop up what remains of Elizabeth’s glasses. The wire frame is twisted badly, one lens completely shattered, the other little more than a cracked fragment.

He pauses for the briefest moment.

Prescription?

That detail tells him more than he likes.

Elizabeth hadn’t simply lost some cheap sunglasses. These were something she needed.

Ethan carefully gathers the larger pieces, then notices a small fragment of the darkened lens glinting between the wet stones. He pinches it up as well, taking care not to cut himself, and slips both the broken frame and fragment carefully into separate pockets.

Not discarded.

Not forgotten.

Evidence, perhaps. A clue. Or simply something Elizabeth might desperately need if they find her again.

Only then does Ethan straighten, turning his full attention back toward the four remaining men.

His expression hardens.

"Eight down," he mutters, setting his stance. "Four to go."

The chase for Elizabeth would have to wait.

For the moment, the alley still had a fight to finish.

Deone grimaces, his form not nearly as clean as he would have liked. He watches the arc of his weapon with a flicker of self-doubt, but the worry vanishes the moment wood connects with flesh. if no one stops the three from fleeing (they are a lot slower than any of you), they will eventually get away with the little knowledge that they gathered.

The ones that are currently out of contact will not awaken any time soon, so one of you could contact your liaison to have the police handle them. They no doubt are well known to the local police.

Anyone who wants is welcome to join me as I can transport willing individuals as well, and we can say that happens retroactively

[ +- ] Results of Yiva's following
You can communicate with the other teammates over the dedicated cellular or you can bring this to the attention of the police. or you can return to the alley to rejoin them as you don't think the three are going anywhere quickly, and/or you can discuss the next step of the girl you saw. (or of course something else)

Yiva forgetting she has a cellphone, returns to the group to relay her findings.

again gonna sit out for a bit to let others do what questions/things they want before Yiva re-enters

Ronan argues that they should question the thugs before contacting the authorities. "We are teenagers, as soon as we bring them in we'll get a pat on the head. Told how good we are and then be sidelined. We should get answers we need before the proper heroes take over."
Sep 15, 2026 10:55 am
Ethan having pocketed the glasses looks up on time to see Yiva vanish off after the scampering thugs. He then walks over and unceremoniously drags the unconscious remaining bodies into a pile. "You probably are right Ronan. I am sure if I hang one upside down by their foot, it would not take long for one to talk." A small smile touches his lips as he imagines the scene.

Examining the tattoos on the unconscious men, Deone remarks "So these guys are N-neo Nazis? Wow America sure is crazy, i-i-i just thought they were Manga concepts."

Your options (as I see them - please feel free to choose something not on the list)

* wait/wake up one of the goons and question him
- ask questions and decide how you will question them.
* involve the police and let them handle the goons (through the police liaison)
* restart the search for Elizabeth.
* ask Alice questions that she might have picked up from the goons or Elizabeth.
(Telepathy)
OOC:
I know Celestine is busy currently, but until told otherwise you will at least have her telepathic resource
* go back to your temporary condo to regroup and plan.

Also everyone please roll 3d6 vs. PERception.

Also, yes

As no one has suggested any other plan: you wake up one the gang members, what do you ask?
Sep 20, 2026 4:00 pm
Whichever thug is chosen, they look scared (as 9 of them were dispatched in a little over one second) and will provide any answer that they have (to the best of their ability.)
Sep 21, 2026 9:26 am
Ethan will randomly select one of the goons, grabbing them by the ankle and dragging them separate from the others. "We should call the police to collect these thugs, but we should be able to get a fees answers before the arrive."

what questions do you ask?
Sep 22, 2026 10:02 am
"Who are you? What are you doing here? Who do you work for?" Ronan starts pelting the thug with questions.

Man, I’m Bob Gardner. Don't go using my middle name, my mom's the only one who does that when she's sore at me.What am I doing here? Well, we’re supposed to find a particular girl. ?Who do I work for? Mike! He’s the guy with the wallet. He already bought us a whole round of beers at the bar—good stuff, too, not the cheap trash—and he promised we get a whole bunch more of 'em as soon as we bring him the girl. and maybe a chance to move up

Its not difficult to see that Bob is not that intelligent.
Sep 24, 2026 1:07 pm
"Move up? So we're talking about a gang here? Which gang? And where can we find Mike?" Ronan keeps the pressure up.
