As the teens leave St. Mike's the shadows are lengthening as the sun is approaching the horizon.

Traffic is considerably less than a few hours before.

What is the team's plan.
Aug 16, 2026 6:17 pm
"uhhhhhhh, guys? The s-s-sun is going down.. we should probably get home before dark..... right? he says nervously.
Aug 16, 2026 6:50 pm
If we want to sleep or chat definitely...but if we want to seek this creature out we should probably head to the areas where it was sighted Her eyes glinting with an excited gleam
Aug 16, 2026 7:09 pm
Deone makes a dissapointed noise and says "m-maybe it's not a d-d-demon anyway, they said it was e-e-e-electric right? Maybe we should check if that's got anything to do with where it shows up? "There aren't electric d-d-demons are there, Yiva?" he says nervously
Aug 16, 2026 8:37 pm
Depends on what you classify as a demon to be honest; as many cultures just didn't classify the mystical creatures they encountered as demons. But if we go with a loose interpretation, several. She starts counting on her fingers. Christian Furfur, Slavic Płanetnik, Japanese Raiju, and thats not counting the possibility it's a creature that hasn't been on Earth before
Aug 16, 2026 10:50 pm
"w-w-wait! You're saying they could be ALIENS now? he says distressedly before calming himself down "W-well atleast it's got energy...... that's handy in case we have to fight"
Aug 16, 2026 11:52 pm
GM Request: BTW when the PCs start the actual search please advise me if using senses other than normal seeing, hearing, smelling, etc.
Aug 16, 2026 11:56 pm
OOC:
Deone shiuld be able to sense electricity and other energy sources, but that's a roleplay thing, not an actual mechanic
Aug 16, 2026 11:56 pm
OOC:
Could I use Weather Alteration to make it a calm cloud free night? Make it so its not raining and the moon + Street lights make it easy for us to search.

OOC:
Yiva has Detect: Magic (A wide variety of things) as a discriminatory sense so she'd probably use that
Aug 17, 2026 4:42 am
OOC:
@Smiley. as the temperature decreases from the daytime temperature to the low of 45F if the pcs are still searching at that point, Harper can raise the temp 5-10F which would dissipate the fog and slightly lessen the rain.

although Harper would have to move a little slower to be able to maintain the power.

Alice walks with a confident little swagger, hands clasped behind her back as she walked along with the rest of the class.

"Honestly? Mysticism isn't my thing so much, I don't know how much use I'm going to be against a potential extra-dimensional entity...if you guys wanted to back out and let the Order handle things, I wouldn't blame you." she said, rolling her shoulders slightly.

"...But sleeping when the psychosphere is this polluted with fear? Pretty unlikely. I want to help, if I can."
OOC:
Alice is going to use Mind Scan, but honestly with the unfamiliar mind and the wide net, the odds aren't super good.

She's also going to try her Mindsense (Discriminatory Mind Detection) - which should let me determine not only that minds are present but what kind of emotional state they're in. Could get lucky.

Lastly, I can use Mindlink on 8 Targets, so I can keep us all networked if we have to split up or something.

If I need to respond to something quickly, well, that's why I have some Flight.

Dressed in the blues and grays of your special program's uniforms, your team sets out into the night at approximately 8:00 PM. Those capable of sensing or seeing magical energies naturally take the lead, charting a course into the deep ink of a pitch-black dark. While a few sparse streetlights cast fractured, sickly pools of illumination onto the wet ground, the shadows here remain profoundly deep, swallowed up by frequent blind turns and the heavy, overhanging architecture of the old structures. Some of the structures remain warehouses, other old warehouses have been converted into other purposes.

What should have been a miserable trek through plunging temperatures and a blinding, dense fog is held comfortably at bay by Harper’s temperature control power. The fog is entirely gone, vaporized by the localized warmth, leaving only a steady, soaking rain. Thanks to the insulated fabric of your uniforms and the modified climate bubble, the constant downpour remains a manageable, completely comfortable backdrop rather than a chilly miserable night.

Progress is slow but steady, a deliberate pace necessitated by the need to keep the group contained within the moving radius of Harper’s environmental shield. Navigating the warehouse district feels like traversing a literal labyrinth, as you trace the meandering paths of what had been 17th and 18th-century streets. Time and again, a wide, promising alleyway curves organically through the stone facades, only to terminate abruptly against the massive, unyielding brick wall of a modern warehouse, forcing the team to backtrack and try the next path. Despite the constant dead ends, Ethan and Yiva can both feel the steady pull of their arcane senses. Their abilities signal with mounting clarity that you are drawing closer to a remarkably potent, concentrated source of magic.

Then, cutting through the steady, rhythmic patter of the rain, a sudden chorus of sound echoes wildly down the narrow corridors. It cascades through the stone brick channels like a chaotic medley of human screaming, animalistic yowling, manic laughing, and desperate crying. The noise is heavily distorted, twisted by the ancient walls into an unnatural, multi-layered screech that sounds less like any living creature and more like a chorus of something unholy agonizing in the dark. The acoustic distortion rips through the alleys, making the hairs on your arms stand up as the deeply unsettling, demonic resonance bounces from every direction at once, completely masking where the entity is hiding.

At this point Alice can attempt a mind scan with the assistance of Yiva and/or Ethan.
OOC:
earlier success was not possible due to distance and number of people in the area, most in their apartments, converted from the old warehouses.

Deone makes a terrified squeek and begins to hyperventilate
"Y-y-y-Yiva, What was that!" he says frantically

I'm not sure I'm trying to get a clearer sense of the thing As Yiva closes her eyes and tries to pinpoint the creature and determine what it is.

Rolls

Detect Magic TN 13 - (3d6)

(242) = 8

KS Mystical Creatures TN 13 - (3d6)

(546) = 15

Result of Magic KS rolls, you can see there is a large source of magic, but can't determine what it is (maybe you have never seen a comparable creature before).
you can determine that it is one creature, not changing location, and you should be in visual range in 20-40 minutes - at that point you can make another roll and/or make plans.
Aug 18, 2026 5:28 am
Its about half an hours walk away. I can't determine what it is from this distance, perhaps when I can see it with my eyes I can give you something else

As you press deeper into the heart of the maze, methodically tracking the overwhelming magical resonance, the horrific, chaotic acoustics begin to shift. Step by step, as you pull away from the narrow bottlenecks and approach a wider junction where multiple historic alleys collide, the maddening echoes flatten out.

The demonic, multi-layered screeching dissolves, shedding its unnatural distortion until the unsettling wall of noise completely ceases. In its place stands a solitary, clear, and breathtakingly pure sound: a hauntingly somber melody, played in a sharp minor key with an agonizingly beautiful, masterful level of skill. The weep of the notes cuts through the ambient, warm drizzle of your climate bubble, weaving a complex piece that seems entirely out of place in this dark, gritty industrial maze.Sensing the absolute epicenter of the arcane signature, you carefully round the final blind corner and step into the open junction. The source finally comes into visual range.Huddled against a damp limestone facade is a surprisingly small, fragile figure. The moment your group emerges into the space, the intense minor melody abruptly hitches. The small being breaks into a ragged, hacking cough that echoes sharply off the surrounding warehouse walls, the strain of the damp air and sheer physical exhaustion visibly racking their slight frame. After a tense, breathless moment, the figure draws a sharp breath, resets the instrument against their shoulder, and begins a completely new, equally mesmerizing musical piece.

Roll Perception 3d6 to gain more details about the figure, their condition.

Roll 3d6 vs. PS: Music Skills or INT Skills to analyze the composition, recognize the piece, or gain deeper information about the technical nature of the music itself.

Provide any information on actions that are done. The figure is not reacting to any of the teens, so the group may talk/communicate to plan.

Yiva and Ronan are both stunned for a few seconds on seeing the magical capacity of the being.

i'm trying to figure out what it's playing

Rolls

Music check - (3d6vs14)

(334) + 14 = 24

OOC:
FYI @Adimune_45, you don't add the 14 to the roll so you rolled 10 or succeeded the knowledge check by 4.
[ +- ] Deone's music knowledge check
You will also want to examine the source of the magic/the player of the violin, please roll another 3d6 as a perception roll (TN 18<=)
