Redhawk realizing he made a mistake by leaving Boggart as he sees his friend go down and hearing Alex yelling defiantly will use his sword to block some of the attack then mark the warg in front of him and attack with his short sword.

Boggart beholds the Lady of the Woods and her realm in silence. In the back of his mind he knows he could not see this unless he was close to the threshold of death, either before or beyond, but it is a fleeting thought. Just this morning, such a sight would have left him shocked, insensate with devotion, but instead he feels only peace. Acceptance.

He feels something nudge his hand. Puck. A wet nose against his palm makes him smile. A warm hand on his shoulder makes him look up into the eyes of the Lady. She is just like he imagined - Tall, serene, divine. She speaks, and Boggart knows her words are true. They are spoken without reproach, so the pang of shame Boggart feels must come from him. The eyes of the forest watch over him as he gathers himself.

"My Lady, I am humbled by your grace. I...I don't know why I rush off to danger as I do. I know in my heart that you are right, that I cannot always stand alone as a shield against the darkness, yet every time I see harm about to befall those under my - under your - protection, something in me stirs. Before I know it, I am standing before them, shield raised.

"In my life, that was my only wish - to guard your woods and protect those under your care. I wish now I had the wisdom to see more clearly that I did not always walk in your steps. I fear it is too late, and now my friends must learn what I did not."

"Please," Boggart clasps his hands before him and kneels, "please show them the path. Let them not suffer for my folly, I beg you my Lady. Let them be safe."

Boggart, she reaches down and gently raises your chin, meeting your eyes.

"You need not carry every burden yourself. Your friends are there beside you. Let them share your burden, and let them stand between danger and those you cannot reach. Trust them."

Her gaze turns toward the distant sounds of battle, and for a moment you feel the frantic struggle of your companions as though it were happening somewhere within the forest around you. "That is what you must do now. But there will come a time when you need more than four mortals."

The trees seem to grow impossibly tall around you, their crowns disappearing into mist. "When you have crossed the tallest mountains or walked beneath the darkest forests, keep your eyes open. Somewhere in the wild, you will find a creature touched by my grace. It will know you, as you will know it." A faint smile touches her lips. "Do not seek it merely as a pet or a weapon. Seek a companion, one who will share the burden of protecting your little company when you cannot."

You feel Puck's familiar presence against your hand once more. "Until then, trust those who walk beside you."

The golden light grows brighter, and the forest, the animals, and the Lady herself dissolve into a whirl of leaves and fireflies. Her final words follow you back into the mortal world.

"Your story is not yet done."

Igrem, you bring your staff down upon the skeletal warg in front of you, shattering its skull and sending the ancient bones collapsing into the dirt.

You quickly cast a Flame dart, but the first shot goes wide and vanishes into the darkness. You refuse to let the miss break your concentration, immediately forcing another flaming projectile into existence. This one strikes another skeletal warg, setting its dry bones ablaze.

With the remaining moment, you focus your magic on Boggart, granting him an extra action at the beginning of the next round. The battered gnome may need every advantage the others can give him.

Alex watches in horror as the skeletal beasts rip into the diminutive gnome. Alex owes his life more than once to the gentle Druid. More than that, Alex is now certain that this is all his fault. The Maid of Ill Luck has it out for him; his friends should not suffer because of him. "Not on my watch, you bitch, Beshaba" he yells throws his body with abandon at Boggart, barreling shoulder-first into the gnome and shoving him as hard as he can out of the way of the skeletal wargs. "Get to safety, little buddy! [Reaction:Interpose]

Yup. By 10 HP. There aren't crits or misses when healing.
Alex, you pull the gnome and then shove him clear, swapping places with Boggart as the undead creatures attack once again.

For now, Boggart is out of their reach. And so the skeletal wargs descend upon you.
OOC:
Alex, take a total of 20 damage (9 from the Interpose, 5+6 from the second warg. Unless you Defend, of course)

Now the remaining enemies can act
Meanwhile, the old mule struggles and brays in panic, but the undead beast does not relent, tearing into her until she collapses.

Gertrude now lies motionless beside the camp, her harness twisted beneath her. The warg turns away from the fallen mule and fixes its empty skull on the remaining living creatures.

Seeing an escape route, Daisy flees north. Someone will have to fetch her when this is over.

Redhawk seeing Alex clear Boggart will defend again with sword being able to deflect the blow by the Warg. He will then spin and bring his sword around with momentum into creature. The spin was a bit much knocking him off balance for his second attack. Redhawk is not used to sword play maybe some sparring with Alex if they survive this.

Boggart is pulled out of his vision of his goddess and lurches back into his body. Eyes wide with a shock of adrenaline, he looks around to see that Alex has taken his place to give him a moment of respite.

"Praise be to the Lady and her wisdom," Boggart prays, channeling Her grace into his wounds. He rises as his injuries knit back together with golden light and judges how best his arts can be applied.

IF Alex goes down, Boggart will use Heal on him.
ELSE Boggart will summon Puck to his side.

Thanks. @Gremlin, Alex could only take 9hp of healing to hit his max 20. So he has 20, and will defend for 5, leaving him with 5, so he had one action left. He uses his cheat free action to move to Boggart and uses his last action to reach into his pouch, take out his sole healing potion, and pour it down Boggart’s throat, praying to Tymora that he got to the gnome in time.
Aug 20, 2026 10:30 pm
Boggart, Alex is still alive and not dying, so you summon your Lifebind Spirit.

Alex, Boggart healed himself with Searing Light. It’s not much, but he is no longer dying and can heal himself further. Also, there’s no need to move; the gnome is right next to you. You still have 1 action (plus a free move, if you want). Are you still going to spend it giving him the potion? Perhaps you can drink it yourself?
OOC:
Boggart, it is actually WIL (2) d8 that you heal, so you missed another die.

Alex almost did not notice as the wargs ripped into his flesh, his eyes never leaving Boggart's bloody, unbreathing form. He let out the breath he did not know he was holding as he saw Boggart take a breath. At that moment the agony of the warg attack suffused him. "ARRGGHH" he screamed as the skeletal creatures raked his body. In a sort of trance or fugue, he muttered "It seems your sister wants us badly, my lady. She will have to work for it, she will." With that, ignoring minor items like torn skin and dripping blood, he used his sword almost as a metal glove and slammed with all his strength into the warg which looked a bit more decrepit [Action 2: Attack on S3]

The blood loss must have affected his vision, for Alex completely missed the skeletal creature. Off-balance, off-kilter, and probably off his rocker with rage, injury, and righteous indignation, Alex swung again [Action 3: Rushed Attack on S3].

He missed again. Now dizzy with blood loss and exertion, Alex realized it was unlikely he was going to survive this encounter. Nevertheless, he was not going to go down without a fight. Understanding that Boggart was in better shape than he was, and unable to see Igrem or Redhawk, he extracted his only healing potion, ripped the cork out with his teeth, yelled "Dare all, and trust in the Lady" and downed it in a few swallows [Action 4: Use healing potion].

Alex, you steady yourself for another attempt, but it is not the blood loss that makes your strikes go awry. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you can almost hear that mocking feminine laughter again. Beshaba is playing with your luck. Every time you think fortune has finally turned your way, something seems to go wrong.

Yet Boggart's faith refuses to let despair take hold. Even battered and bloodied, the gnome's stubborn optimism seems to reach you. You steady yourself, grip your rapier, and strike again.

This time, the blade finds its mark and you destroy the skeleton. One less.

But as you look around, your relief is short-lived. 3 of the undead still remain, Gertrude lies dead beside the wagon, and the remaining wargs continue to close around you.

Whatever Beshaba has planned, you are far from safe yet.

The three remaining skeletal wargs show no reaction to the destruction of their packmates. There is no hesitation, no change in their actions, and no instinct to flee. They simply continue their relentless assault, closing in on the survivors with snapping jaws and raking claws, determined to tear down whatever still moves.

They attack again.
