Round three, completed

Berthold rises and tries to attack Bem, but the desperate bandit hears his movement and dodges out of the way of his dancing sword.

This is enough of a distraction for Kazzak, who slides his sword in between Bem's ribs.
Bem takes 9 slashing damage and dies.
"Good to know. We'll take care of him too."
Fern starts screaming.

Antonius whirls and shoves Huff backwards into the kitchen counter with his shield, and the bandit knocks jugs and mugs off to shatter on the floor. "Your friend goes before you," Antonius growls, and brings his hammer down on her head with a crunch.
Huff takes 11 bludgeoning damage and dies.
"Listen closely…" he says, as the lifeless body drops, "The Ruby Bell still tolls."

With Bern’s blood and entrails still dripping off his sword, Kazzak stares at Fern. "Quiet, you fool. Surrender now or you’re next."
May 14, 2026 4:04 pm
"Your choice," Sora says to Fern. "Surrender or join your friends in eternal sleep."

OOC:
@CancerMan @WhtKnt if there are further actions you want to perform, go ahead and post your round four turns now.
Grallaria is circling the clearing, watching the drama unfold below as Fern is surrounded by Berthold, Kazzak, and Sora. Already badly hurt, Fern is the only bandit left standing; she is clearly torn between trying to flee for her life and trying to protect helpless Ene (as she knows what would happen if her if she were ever left alone and asleep with a bunch of killers). Fern's action - surrender, fight, or flight - will happen on her turn.
May 14, 2026 5:03 pm
Grallaria telepathically reports the situation to Amnestria, providing her own owlish-insights that the 'mouse' trapped between the three blood-drawn predators stands little chance of escape, but she will stay on task in case the bandit manages to slip through.

Amnestria absently nods at the report, her wand held in a trembling hand still aimed at the smoke that was once the bandit Gull. The thought occurs too late to her that it could have been one of her companions or Berthold's retinue that came crashing through, and she shudders at the imaginary result. Steeling herself, she tentatively moves out of the bedroom to the landing, keeping her wand pointed nervously down the stairs in case another bandit appears.

Hearing no further hints of battle downstairs, the wizard reaches out with her other hand to knock on the southern bedroom door. "It's me," she says, announcing herself to Reynald in case the man has the same plan to ambush visitors like she did. "Is everything all right in there?"
OOC:
Grallaria takes Ready action to move up to 60' if Fern flees, moving in the same direction to remain above them.
Amnestria will Move out of the bedroom and keep guard, Readying a Fire Bolt if a bandit appears.
May 15, 2026 3:07 am
Sora assumes a casual pose (at least as much as she can and remain ready). "I really don't want to kill you, but if you don't surrender, I will." Sora readies an action. If Fern attacks or flees, Sora will attack.
May 15, 2026 6:32 am
Though his latest attack had been ineffective, Berthold still struck the pose of a swordsman ready to strike down his foe. "You don’t need to join your friends in death, think with your head, not your gut."

OOC:
@mathias0077 - Since both Sora and Amnestria have Readied actions, it is Dell's turn now. From the entrance to the barn, he can attack Fern with his bow without moving, though she will have cover. He cannot see Ene from where he is without moving. A move will get him to any of the following: Kazzak's side, the front door of the farmhouse, line of sight on Fern without cover, or line of sight on Ene without cover.
Ene is still asleep. Badly-wounded Fern will act after Dell's turn.
May 15, 2026 4:37 pm
Now on the ground Dell will move to get los on Fern in case the bandit tries to flee. He will sheath his rapier and unshoulder his bow. He expects this bandit to surrender if they know what is good for them. As he gets to his potion he will call out"Bow on you, don't try to run. Give yourself up."

Round Four
(this is preceded by round three)

Fern continues to scream. Kazzak snarls "Quiet, you fool. Surrender now or you’re next." Terrified, she claps a hand over her mouth, but her screams are only muffled.

Grallaria communicates with Amnestria ::One still fighting, all others ready to devour.:: The little owl has a hard time understanding whether her mistress' foes are prey or territorial rivals - the main contexts she knows for attacking with beak and claw - so she tends to refer to them as either or both, though her mistress and her clutchmates have so far shown little interest in eating their kills. ::Their nest will soon be ours!:: The bird continues to circle, ready to stoop if Fern tries to make a break for it.

"Your choice," Sora says to Fern. "Surrender or join your friends in eternal sleep." She examines her fist, leaning against the wagon. "I really don't want to kill you, but if you don't surrender, I will." Fern is hyperventilating now, the whites of her eyes visible all the way around her irises.

Hearing no further hints of battle inside, Amnestria walks out of the room, wand extended warily, and onto the landing at the top of the stairs. The wizard knocks on the southern bedroom door. "It's me," she says to Reynald and Olyena inside, "Is everything all right in there?"
"We're fine..." Olyena replies.

Dell sheathes his sword and trots out into the yard, taking up his bow and nocking an arrow as he gets a clear line of sight on Fern. "Bow on you," the rogue announces to the woman, "Don't try to run. Give yourself up."

Behind her, Berthold swings his sword in the air, making it whistle. "You don’t need to join your friends in death, think with your head, not your gut."

Fern, faced with overwhelming odds and threats from all sides, drops her sword and kneels protectively over Ene. "Don't harm her! Leave her alone!"

Inside the farmhouse, Antonius calls up the stairs, "Amnestria, are you harmed? Do you require aid?"
"We're fine up here," the wizard reassures him.

Outside, Kazzak grumbles to his nearby companions, "We should find out who this leader named Black is." They both know he is referring to Black's true identity, as everyone in the party has already been informed about the mysterious bandit leader. Sora replies, "I'm good at roughing people up, but not so good at chatting with them."

Taking that as his cue, Berthold sheathes his sword and slings his shield over his shoulder as he kicks the crossbows and Fern's sword under the wagon. Then he crouches down and starts to unbuckle Ene's belt. Fern tenses at this, clearly fearing some molestation, but the knight simply removes the scabbard and sword, tossing them into the wagon. "Your friend is well, but I need you to stand and follow me. No harm will come to you, as long as you hold the peace." Then he stands, taking Fern gently but firmly by the elbow to help her rise. She trembles under his palm, almost certainly from an adrenal mixture of fear and rage. He steers her around the wagon to observe her companions' bodies, sprawled and awkward in death. He nods at Abe's grisly corpse. "Was he your leader?"
Fern grits her teeth, and gives a single shake of her head, no. "My love."
Berthold tightens his grip on her elbow, aware of all the other scattered weapons at their feet.

Kazzak walks past the carnage and returns to the front door of the farmhouse to stand guard, half expecting more bandits to emerge from the woods.

Antonius shakes some brain off of his hammer and then moves to the stairs to examine the scorched and blistered remains. He notes with considerable interest that Gull's corpse was flash burnt; the fire did not last long enough to ignite any lasting fire on his clothes or equipment. He nods, filing that piece of information away, satisfied at this tribute to Wee Jas. Then he returns to the main room and watches the others out the front window.

May 15, 2026 8:58 pm
Amnestria checks on Guilbert, announcing herself and asking if things are well in the eastern bedroom. She relaxes a bit more as it seems the conflict has ended.
May 15, 2026 9:42 pm
Sora visibly relaxes, but does not lose her fighting stance, lest more bandits suddenly appear from the woodwork.

OOC:
@matmaisan @rpgventurer @Mathfuric go ahead and post your round four turns. Unarmed Fern is surrounded by Kazzak, Berthold, and Sora (and Dell has bow drawn on her), but her weapons are in reach, she hasn't been restrained or even grappled, and so she's a danger and/or a flight risk (but I'm not forgetting the Readied actions). Ene will wake up in less than a minute.
May 16, 2026 12:02 am
As the last echoes of shouting fade from the farmhouse, Antonius remains still for a moment in the smoky kitchen, listening for any sign the battle might flare anew. Hearing only muffled voices and Fern’s ragged sobbing outside, he lowers his shield slightly and turns his attention to the dead. Gull’s charred corpse still smolders faintly near the staircase, thin trails of smoke curling upward into the rafters. Antonius kneels beside the body with grim composure, using a nearby cloth and the edge of his boot to smother the lingering flames before they can spread. The smell of scorched flesh hangs thick in the room, but the cleric shows little discomfort; instead, he gives the ruined corpse a brief, appraising glance, as though confirming Wee Jas’s judgment has been properly delivered.

Straightening, he looks up toward the landing where Amnestria stands with wand still in hand. "Amnestria," he calls, voice calmer now that the danger has ebbed, "are you harmed? Do you require aid?" Though his tone remains steady and practical, there is unmistakable approval beneath it after the devastating spell she unleashed. Receiving no urgent cry for help, Antonius moves to the kitchen window and peers out across the yard. His sharp eyes quickly take in the scene: Fern kneeling in surrender beside the sleeping Ene, Dell’s drawn bow fixed upon them, Sora poised nearby, and Berthold somehow back on his feet despite the blood staining his clothes. Seeing the fight truly ended, Antonius finally exhales, the tension easing from his shoulders though his hammer remains firmly in hand.
May 16, 2026 1:59 am
"We're fine up here," answers Amnestria, letting her words be audible enough for Berthold's retinue to hear as well.

Now that the house itself appears secure, she starts her return to the western room. Before she does so, she informs the others to keep watch in case something else arrives. Amnestria then takes her position back at the west window to observe what transpires by the wagon.
May 16, 2026 3:07 am
Sensing the situation needs a lighter touch than the presence of a dwarven warrior's battle stare, Kazzak grumbles to Sora and Berthold, "We should find out who this leader named Black is." He then falls back to the front door, his eyes scanning the woods ahead for other bandits possibly hiding there.

Seeing his foe had surrendered, Berthold steadily approached the two remaining bandits to disarm them and make sure they are no longer a threat.

He looks at the sleeping figure and speaks to Fern: "Your friend is well, but I need you to stand and follow me. No harm will come to you, as long as you hold the peace."

He then walked the prisoner around the wagon, to where Abe and the others lay dead. "Was he your leader?" the knight asked calmly.

Dell will put his arrow away and shoulder his bow and move to tie the sleepers hands and feet.

"I'm good at roughing people up, but not so good at chatting with them," Sora replies to Kazzak

Note: I'm preserving the order of dialogue independent of the order of movement/actions, which happens in turn order after all.
