"Agreed, we cannot leave them here to die."
Apr 5, 2026 3:59 am
OOC:
The hexes are 12 miles I think - so 45 miles to the city to deliver the slaves safely would be off the map then back, but equivalent to just under 4 hexes. The slaves are not mounted, and I'm guessing their base land speed is 30ft, so about 2 days there, and 2 days back.

"Yes, we cannot leave these people to their deaths. Surely it is worth our time to ensure their survival."

Located along the banks of the Crook River, Ipeq (pronounced ahy-PECK) is the third-largest city in southern Osirion. According to legend, Ipeq was conjured into existence in a single day by Pharaoh An-Hepsu VII. Ipeq stands on the southern bank of the river and completely blocks the Shallows of Ipeq, one of only three ways of crossing the Crook on foot.

The journey there is uneventful, your now large contingent warning off most predators, be they men or beasts.

When you arrive at the end of the second day, you're there at the city gates. The city guards take your story and have some sympathy for their plight. They agree to take care of them until they can be escorted to their home villages.
OOC:
The adventure only includes this note: "if the PCs free the slaves and escort them to Ipeq, the PCs can leave the freed slaves with the city’s authorities." As such, there's no clue here for you to follow, and you're free to purchase supplies, return to the Parched Dunes, or whatever you want.

Tabat spends some time in the market purchasing things that may be needed for their journey then reconvenes with the others before the gate. "Ready to return when you are. There is much desert to search."
OOC:
Purchased a couple things for Tabat, plus for the group: a wand of cure moderate wounds, 5x potions of lesser restoration - added to party loot. Qralloq also mentioned for returning the slaves, we get a wand of cure serious wounds, also added.

"I am ready to continue as well.". Callum takes some time during the return trip to ask Tabat about any tips or tricks he has in handling his camel better.

You return to the area where you discovered the gnoll slavers.

The current hex has been discovered and explored. Where to next?
Apr 10, 2026 5:51 pm
"North?" Iseret says questioningly.
Apr 10, 2026 8:34 pm
The hex to the north is hardpacked ground. Travel: 1 Activity, explore: 1 activity. (Note: three activities available per day).
Apr 11, 2026 7:43 am
"Yes, and we'll explore as we go. We don't know where we'll find the place we search for."
OOC:
North 1 hex, explore - if nothing further, travel south-west?

https://i.imgur.com/F3oGRK2.jpegYou explore a region and then head south back along the creek, but end up running out of daylight.

You camp for the night. What does that look like? What preparations are made for the evening?
OOC:
Once we have a routine, we'll skate through these hexes at an accelerated pace.

Selqet has a large tent which holds up to four people and a small tent. It takes 45 minutes to set up the large tent with two people working on it.
Apr 11, 2026 5:18 pm
Tabat offers to take first watch as they make camp for the night.
OOC:
Split the night into 3 watches? Tabat can always take first. He'll then need to take off his armor for sleep before waking up and praying for spells.
Apr 11, 2026 5:53 pm
OOC:
Callum and Iseret are welcome to chime in on the nighttime routine. This night, there's is no random event so I'll just push ahead.
The night passes without incident. The desert is cold but not nearly as quiet as a newcomer might expect. Insects, lizards, and birds give the night an unsettling activity. One two occasions, a distance roar of something more dangerous reaches your ears over long lonely miles.

Morning wakes and you find yourselves facing a day that is looking to be a scorcher. With temperatures over 35°C (100°F), those of you in armor will likely be battling the elements as much as any tangible threat you find.
OOC:
How do you prepare for the day, and do you explore this hex? If so, where would you go after?
Apr 11, 2026 6:04 pm
OOC:
I say continue to explore as we go and follow the river for now, NW.
Apr 11, 2026 6:12 pm
OOC:

Following the river north till we get a reason to do otherwise is fine. I can take the middle watch I dont have spells or anything to need the specific uninterrupted sleep casters need.
Apr 11, 2026 7:20 pm
You explore the current area and then follow the creek NW but it disappears, it's source a natural spring.

As the day grows hotter, you begin to suffer the effects of heat...

A character in very hot conditions (above 90° F) must make a Fortitude saving throw each hour (DC 15, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d4 points of nonlethal damage. Characters wearing heavy clothing or armor of any sort take a –4 penalty on their saves. A character with the Survival skill may receive a bonus on this saving throw and might be able to apply this bonus to other characters as well.
OOC:
You've explored this hex and are about to move NW to the next. We're at the time of the first such check, unless you have a way to combat it?
Apr 11, 2026 7:50 pm
Iseret can take any watch, as she does not need to prepare spells and needs only to sleep two hours per night (thanks to the ring of sustenance).
Apr 11, 2026 9:53 pm
OOC:
I agree on following the river until it no longer works.

Sadly, no environmental protection spells on my end.

I can take last watch, as I need to sleep 8 hours, and study my Spellbook for 1 hour

To apply Survival, do we just add the modifier (+1) to the Fort roll, or roll Survival first to see if it applies in any way if successful?
Apr 11, 2026 11:40 pm
OOC:
Tabat may have a solution this. He can prepare and cast Endure Elements as a 1st level spell, or the Communal version as a 2nd level spell. He'll make sure and prep it going forward while we explore out here.
