Connor looked down at the corpse. Of course the Red Talon would ruin everything, that's what they did. "No point in asking questions now..."

In the umbra you find several spirits, but they can't explain what the creature was-- the impression you get from their vague answers is that the horse and the rider are both something completely, for lack of a better word- alien.

Lan returns to the others.
The land didn't know the horse or the rider. Not even as wyrm tainted. I don't know why, but my thoughts go back to the old country and the stories about the headless horseman. How both the horse and the man were one creature of legend.

"Not of the Wyrm and not of the Weaver?" Spirit Walker asks, surprised as Lan mentions the spirits' lack of insight. "I wonder its dead will stop the murders or will it return and continue to haunt the land?"
He walks up to Breaks-The-Iron-Horse passing what is left of the horse-rider without giving it a single glance. "They are perhaps right, and we were brought here by Gaia to find out what this creature is. We must look for the spirit animal that is watching over us. There will be a sign if we are to be a pack and serve the land." He looks around, searching the skies and the land for any sign. Spirit walker places his hand on the Breaks shoulder. "We are of the same tribe, and I feel your rage, but this seems to be a spiritual quest we must undertake." Turning to the others, he adds "Perhaps, the Theurge can guide us as a pack. Perhaps that is the will of the land. But for now, we must find the sign"

As you look around for a totem, a feeling to look up comes over you.
You crane your necks into the Starlit Sky, and there shining brightly is a star-- no, a planet it must be, but which?
Regardless, the feeling comes over you- THIS must be your sign. The Incarnae of a planet in the heavens giving its light as an omen.

Lan, lick his red fur and looks up. His eyes changes to more human looking.
That is mars I belive.

[ +- ] Mixed-morph (1 pt. Merit)
You find the art of partial transformation relatively easy, and make the required Dexterity + Primal Urge roll at difficulty 6 rather than difficulty 9 (p. 286). The five-point version of this Merit eliminates the need for a Willpower point; you can achieve partial transformation almost at will.

Breaks-The-Iron-Horse looked up as well, following Lan's gaze. He saw the bright star. He knew nothing of planets. Only the moon and sun mattered much to him.
"So? Does it have meaning?"

Speaking Death looks up, too.
"Yes, thy have meanings. You can see them as spirits of the heaven, great ones, Incarnae. They have influence, sometimes down to here. But I don't know enough of this."
He looks around.
"Does any medicine man or teller of tales here know more about this?"

"Heavenly Incarnea you say..." Spirit Walker asks still looking up as if measuring the planet. "Yes, that is clearly a sign, an omen we should listen. Is it good or bad, I cannot tell. But if that is mars indeed..." He looks at Breaks-The-Iron-Horse "It's light will fall on the fearless warriors. Maybe we are meant to be a pack under its protection."
OOC:
I guess planets are valid totems. This one if fine for me, though we can pick something else and just take this as a omem. This would also totally make the Ahroun the alpha for me. Last edited January 7, 2026 9:17 pm

"Mars is War-totem?" The massive Lupus replied with curiosity as he cocked his head but failing to get a meaningful angle from the planet.
"Then we go to Umbra, and go to Mars."
"Then we go to Umbra, and go to Mars."
OOC:
Naturally, Breaks-The-Iron-Horse will like the idea of being adopted by the Ice Warrior.Last edited January 7, 2026 11:15 pm
