The bird flicks it's gaze across both of you. Other than this it continues to attempt to climb the stairs by hopping and scrabbling with its claws, with an occasional flutter of its wings which seems to cause it to flinch.

"Orrid, can you help me catch the bird so I can try to help it?" , she asks, moving carefully towards the creature.
Jan 5, 2026 9:45 pm
Without a second thought Orrid helps Ursa try to catch the creature

As the two of you move to encircle and grab the bird it's struggles become more frantic. Finally as you are about to snatch it the bird spreads it's wings and flaps its wings only for a screech of pain as the favored wing suddenly emits a small snapping noise and bends in a way you can only assume is not good. The bird faints and you quickly move to secure it.

With extreme care and gentleness she checks the small creature for wounds and heals what everails the bird. Intent on helping the bird to get where it wants to reach.

Interesting looking bird Orrid says inquisitively I have never seen a bird like this in my woodlands he says as he observes the bird

Aurora gently probes the bird as healing energy flows into it. The clearly broken wing shifts and she guides it back into place where it begins knitting the bones and muscles back into their proper forms. Unfortunately the bird is still unconscious, which might have been a good thing as healing broken bones can be even more painful than breaking them in the first place. By time the healing finishes its breathing has slowed and it seems to have settled into a deep sleep.

Orrid looks over the bird and spots several interesting traits. Unlike any other bird you are familiar with this ones face has a mask pattern around its eyes and what is clearly a rune can be seen on the breast feathers, formed by the shift in the feather coloration. Though either might be natural they seem more deliberate than evolved.

"Curios. Orrid, are you familiar with a bird who sports such a pattern on their feathers? It seems deliberate, yet not dyed...", she shows the pattern to Orrid.

This seems very unnatural. It appears to have a magic inscription in its feathers He says as he points at the rune shape.
Ursa can you tell if this bird has any magical properties?

Perhaps this is the next test? Orrid says inquisitively Im sure this is the work of the wizard. Maybe we should go up the stairs and see where it was heading?

"Let's go upstairs, good idea. But...be careful", she says and tries to feel if there is magic around the bird that does not come from her healing.

Leaving the now healed bird you continue on up the stairs and read a small yet comfortably furnished room. A thick carpet covers the cold stone floor and several chairs of various sized are set around with lamps, small tables, and a couple of book shelves. At the far end of the room is a stout wooden door.

It is a solid wood door that does seem enchanted to stay closed.
Jan 11, 2026 4:31 pm
"It seems like it is enchantet to stay closed. So I guess we need to find some challenge here in the room to undo the enchantment."
That being said, Aurora moves around, looking closely at the furniture.

Orrid ponders for a moment and then a thought occurs Remember the rune on the birds wing? I wonder if it has something to do with unlocking this door?

You find the room to be very comfortable and there a seat to fit each of your unique frames very nicely. There are some books for light reading with topics such as "Countryside Herbs and their uses" and "Interesting but harmless, mostly anyhow, Fae" with large colorful illustrations. One one small table you find a small silver bell and another has a drawer with a writing kit.

Orrid looks over the books and picks one off the shelf. He walks over to the chair and sits down with it, opens up to a random page and tries to make sense of it. He then looks up at Ursa and says My village Shaman taught me to read basic words but im struggling to make sense of this book. I dont want to waste time studying books while my village is suffering. Perhaps there is something of importance in these books to help us continue on through the door? It wouldn't hurt to skim through them he says as he shrugs. Orrid continues to attempt making sense of the book

Orid finds some of the books easy to understand as they limit the words used and tend to use the simplified common script as much as the more advanced high script used by magi and clergy

Orrid walks over to the desk with the bell and writing materials I wonder what all this is for? Are we supposed to write something down? He then picks up the bell and observes it, thinks about it and decides why not ring the bell. He then slowly wiggles the silver bell waiting for noise to come from it
