Who let the frogs out? (RP)

There is still some police tape cordoning off areas of the street and the park, but they have taken down the tents and you don't see any immediate signs of surveillance (though London is covered with cameras, and you know how hard it is to truly hide).

If you concentrate, you think you can still smell blood —and other leavings— but the rain has eliminated much of that.

The street between Hyde- and Green Parks is ... ordinary. Well, as 'ordinary' as these posh areas can be called. If it wasn't for the tracking data suggesting this as a point of interest, and the 'pure coincidence' fact that of The Lanesborough being within spitting distance, you would have no reason to care.

As annoying as the rain may be, it has its upsides for illegal activity. With the hood of her raincoat pulled up and over her head, and her umbrella obscuring her body well, it's highly unlikely that any camera will capture any identifying details. She ducks under the police cordon as if she belongs there (which she does, as far as she's concerned) and hunches low to try to get a better scent on what's transpired. She tries to sniff out the victim, the hikers who discovered the body, and most importantly, the murderer. She knows her own scent well enough. Was she present at the scene before without knowing it? Can she still trace the killer, wherever that might lead her?

"Fuck" Emma muttered when she noticed the elegant fasacde of the Lanesborough right across the street. She hasn't realized just how close the hotel was to where Eliot was last seen. Maybe the cult was involved in his disappearance. Or maybe they picked to gather at the hotel because it sat at the epicenter of supernatural disturbances.

"Ok. This is the exact spot where he went missing" she pulled her coat tighter around her, trying to protect herself from the sudden shiver that ran through her body "Try to look around. See if anything feels… off."

It has been over 24 hours since the body was found early yesterday morning, though Alara implied it had not been there for too long before that. The area has been thoroughly trampled by the size-11s of the MET (Metropolitan Police Service) and then cleaned for 'Health and Safety' reasons after they were confident they had collected all the evidence.

Given the locations of the forensics tents, but also the slight lingering scent of blood, you guess that the poor sod was killed in the park, and was then dragged or crawled to the lights of the street.

You know the park fairly well, with all its scents and sounds, but the incessant rain of the last few weeks has muted both. Surely it would be too paranoid, at this time to, to start thinking there is some intent behind that effect, it is just the weather, this is London, London is famous for its rain... right?

There is a hint of something new in the park, though, a musky, animal smell that makes your hackles rise. This was not here last week.

It has been a few weeks since Elliot vanished, but it can't be a coincidence that it happened right here? Right? This was just the hotel the cult picked as a substitute when their beach-retreat got rained out, right?

You know Elliot's car's tracker worked underground at his place, but maybe The Lanesborough has older, thicker walls? Might he have gone in there and parked? On the other hand, the hotel was just the staging area, a convenient way to get the sacrificial lambs into the park... the park that is just over there on the other side of the road. The park that has some negative associations for you and your party...

Max hadn't used cocaine in a long time. In fact, she had stopped imbibing when she had gotten pregnant and never started it again. It wasn't that she had never again had the urge - she had, quite strongly - but she refused to let Madison grow up with a mother who was a crackhead.

Max would never again feel the urge to snort a line. Compared to what she was experiencing right now, that kind of mundane high might as well be drinking a lukewarm cup of decaf. This was something no mortal would ever experience. It was an expansion of her senses. It was powerful. It was consuming. It was overwhelming. And it was sexy.

Max would never again feel the urge to snort a line. Because now she had this.

Resisting the urge to bound on all fours, she sniffs the air, trying to get a lock on the scent, trying to see where it's getting stronger. She leaves the scene and runs off into the park where the body was first discovered, but stays there only long enough to determine if she can pick up a better reading on that musky smell, before rushing off at random to try to get a sense on where this beast, this pretender, this intruder, might keep its lair.

Emma tried to think it through. Could Eliot have been swallowed somehow, car and all, as he drove down the street? No, that didn’t make sense. His car had to be here somewhere. Maybe he parked at the Lanesborough for some reason. Maybe it was still sitting in the underground garage.

But that didn’t matter.

Hyde Park was the nexus. The confluence. Whatever happened to him began, or ended, there.

"The park" she muttered under her breath, stepping off the curb and narrowly avoiding a car that honked at it splashed water all over her. She barely flinched. Less and less aware of her surroundings with each step, she walked deeper into the park, as if led by some invisible force. "Gotta be here somewhere..."

Confused, Persephone asks, "So this guy, Elliott, was tracked to this point, and then he AND his car just disappeared?" She immediately looks up for traffic cameras, and then steps down the street in each direction. Even if no camera is pointed on this spot, there are surely some pointed on the streets further down, at each further intersection. So you could rule out that he kept driving, or find him driving further in one direction, etc.

You think the new smell is more concentrated in the area between the rose garden and the serpentine lake, but you can't find any physical location for whatever you are smelling. You don't think it is another werewolf, it does not smell right, it also does not smell exactly like a canine, there is something wrong with the scent that you can't place.

You don't know what it was doing in your park, how it got there, or where it went.

You find yourself 'led' back to where you have vague memories of appearing back in the park on the night of the 'games'. You did not come back exactly where your group stumbled upon the 'portal' into the below (between the Holocaust memorial and the waterfall), but that is all a little hazy, so you can't be completely sure of where you came back, there is no sign of any sort of portal now.

There are cameras everywhere, but you don't have access to their footage... given that your companions are talking about events that happened weeks ago you can't be confident anyone would even still have footage of that time unless there was something interesting noticed there.

If the police were involved they would, presumably, have looked at such footage already, though the tracker data might have helped narrow that down.

Once Max realizes she's hit a dead end, she begins making her way to the outskirts of the park. After spending much of last night entertaining Circe and not getting a chance to sleep in, she's tired, and she might have a chance to sneak in a nap before she goes back to Titania's to collect what's due to her.
Oct 9, 2025 7:31 pm
Persephone asks, "So, like, did the cops get involved, as a missing persons case type of thing? Or was this all supernatural community hush hush? Cause there's cameras all over here..."
Oct 9, 2025 7:44 pm
After taking a few steps towards the outskirts of the park Max pauses and turns back. She's no detective, that's for sure, but maybe she can do work here anyway. She can certainly do better than the pigs, even if they are being helped by Kenedi. So, she starts investigating the area, crouching down and combing the entire grounds where the smell is the strongest. She's looking for tracks, fur, loose claws, scales, feathers, anything that doesn't look like it's supposed to be there. It'll take time, but she's not leaving until she's certain there's nothing else to find.
Oct 9, 2025 7:49 pm
"I’m not even sure Eliot’s listed as a person" she said "Reporting him missing could draw way too much attention. The police start asking questions, they dig into records that don’t exist… all his assets, missing tax returns; its the sort of thing that can easily get of hand and implicate lots of other vampires as well" her eye kept scanning the park as she talked "I did try to get the footage, though, without saying what's it for. Called a few favors. But I don’t have that kind of pull"

She sounded more and more annoyed the longer she talked. She was cold, and wet, and didn't even know why she was bothering. Didn't she say she wanted out?

"I don’t even know what I’m supposed to be looking for. This was a bad idea. Let's just get out of here..."

Benji has been quietly trotting along at Emma’s heels, looking out for danger rather than helping to look for clues. He’s here to keep Emma and Persephone safe, not find Elliot, but the defeat in Emma’s voice tugs at his heart strings. Maybe he should help, after all… Emma had said she believed the fey were leading her here, so he surveys the park for any trace of the fey, hoping his sharper senses will pick up something that Emma’s might have missed.

Persephone recognizes the tone of Emma's voice and holds up a hand, saying, "Hey now, don't make me remind you of that time you wanted to go home, but I convinced you to stay at the club, and we got to hang out with Chloe Grace Moretz? That was so worth it! So let's try a bit more before giving up, 'kay?"

She turns to the street and begins to wander around the area. Any demon vibes coming?

People walk their dogs in the park, so what you find could be from one of them... but you don't get that impression. You don't know all the walkers who use the park, but if any of them had a dog of the sheer proportions you are picking up on, you would surely have heard.

On the simple stone of the Holocaust Memorial you find thick, black, wiry hairs, smelling of dog ... and slightly of washed sulphur. There is also a large paw print in the ground, protected from the rain by the overhang of the memorial stone [streetview].

Impressive as your wolf form is, you can tell that this is larger, meaning you are not the only large beast roaming your park, and giving you a viable candidate to place the attack-blame on.
