Hearing the click, Iseret knows that she has messed up and quickly attempts a backward roll.

Rolls

Reflex save - (1d20+12)

(8) + 12 = 20

By her fingernails, Iseret scrambles from the pit trap. 50' deep and spiked at the bottom, she avoids a prickly fate.

It's the width of the room, and ten feet across, so getting over it will be a challenge, especially for Andromeda!

Some time later...

Having been drawn back from the pit to consult in meditation, Khadi and Jaware take leave of your company. Perhaps it will be only for a short time, but Kepri calls her away to some urgent work and Jaware is convinced to protect her as long as he can.

Tabat and Iseret seal up the hidden library and seek additional adventurers to assist them in exploring this next tomb of tomes.

This leads them to the inn called The Beggars Oasis. It's a teahouse and hookah, ostensibly, but is a known hang out and gathering place for adventurers of a certain nature - that is, those with scruples rather than without. The hostess Tahirah is said to have a nose for such things.

This leads us to a fine one evening, with Tabat paladin of Horus and Iseret the halfling archaeologist meeting: Kyra, priestess of Saranae; Selquet Ashem, an agile man at arms; and Callum Blackstar, a half-elf warrior with a more mystical air about him.

The air of the Beggars Oasis is lightly scented with a sweet smell of aromatic incense being smoked at other tables. Several pitchers of beer have just been delivered by Tahirah herself, water condensing on their chilled sides. She gives Tabat a light nod, signaling that she had no objections to the company that have just sat at this table.

Iseret smiles broadly at the newcomers. "Welcome to our little company," she offers with a hand.
Dec 15, 2025 1:19 am
"Ah! Much obliged and delighted to make your acquaintance, much obliged and delighted indeed! An archeologist did I hear you say? That is a most interesting trade, and Osirion a most blessed place to ply it as such! You must have many fascinating tales, no?"

Our turbaned priestess sits in the corner, and rises just enough to greet her companions kindly.
Greetings. I am Kyra, a Crusader of the Dawnflower. I come for to explore the tombs, and perhaps to see what my ancestors before might have seen.

Well met, to all of you!
Dec 15, 2025 9:35 pm
Smiling, Callum leans over to shake Iseret's hand, "I appreciate the offer."

Looking at the rest of the group, he nods his head in greeting, "Quite the group we have here ..." his eyes rest on the cleric, brow raised quizzically, "Are you the Kyra of Dawnflower? If so, I've heard tales of your exploits across all of Golarion. Our little group is lucky to have you join us. If not her, well, I'm sure you'll be just fine." he says with a chuckle.

I am humbled, my friend. Yes, I surely am that Kyra, about whom you’ve heard. And what is your name? I look forward to our explorations together!

"Well, a blessing upon us all! I am Callum Blackstar, but you may call me Cal." With that the half elf sits back down and waits for the others, curious more then ever now where this venture will lead.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintences," Tabat says to Callum and Selqet. "Kyra, good to see you again. It's been years since that ordeal up in Sothis. I was glad to have you by my side then, as I will be now. Welcome to you all."

Given some time to get to know each other, eventually you return to the Vault of Hidden Wisdom. With the additional resources, expertises and abilities you are better equipped to tackle the no doubt forbidable defenses of this library.

Iseret has last uncovered a pit trap. 50' deep and spiked at the bottom. It's the width of the room, and ten feet across, so getting over it will be a challenge, especially for Tabat's camel Andromeda.

Selqet examines the trap.
OOC:
Is it just an open pit? or is it covered that we could disable the trip mechanism?
Dec 21, 2025 7:48 pm
It's an open pit, having been triggered earlier and it hasn't been reset since.
Dec 22, 2025 2:16 pm
Looking at the pit, the camel, the 10' gap, and back at the camel, another chuckle escapes the half-elf's lips, "Bested already it seems. I'm afraid I have no magicks that can assist at the moment. Kyra, does Sarenae offer any guidance in this matter? If not, can we reset and then disable the trap?"

Kyra approaches the pit, looks down…and then steps back lest she slips!
I can Air Walk across. I also have rope. Someone grab the other end of my rope, and once I’m across, the rest of you can negotiate with the rope over to me.
If we’ve enough rope, we might need repeat the process , everyone holding another end of rope, until we’re all across.

Kyra sheathes her weapons, grabs one end of her 50’ hempen rope, and offers the other end to a willing companion.

"I have some pitons and a hammer back on my camel if we want to fasten ropes to both sides?"
OOC:
I'm assuming I tied up/hobbled my camels back at the entrance to the dungeon/tomb.

OOC:
I know that it's the holidays, but let's get past this, shall we? It's not a dire threat.
Iseret easily jumps across and with a rope secured around the bronze chest, the others have a way to cross with support. Taking your time, you make it across. The chest is empty.

You see a few ways to go but after checking the corridors, you see the following:

In the central location (marked E2) you see desks piled with scrolls and codices.

Beyond that, at the farthest extent of darkvision (for those that have it; location E3), you see the ends of racks that hold more scrolls.

To the east, at the end of a passage in a small chamber (location E4), two clockwork soldiers have just animated and are coming toward you. Faintly over the din of their clanking, you think you hear a few more coming, but those are out of sight.

Let's say that you're at the intersection just below E1. They are medium sized and moving at normal speed so they'll be upon you in a round or two. What do you do?

Having made her way past the 10’ out of spiked doom, and spying approaching automatons, our clerical crusader readies her weapons and utters a brief prayer to the Dawnflower. Instilling herself with Divine Favor! Bring it!
OOC:
Casting Divine Favor. Was going to do Divine Power but I think I’ll wait on that.

Iseret raises her crossbow, aims, and fires at one of the clockwork creations.

Rolls

Crossbow vs. clockwork soldier - (1d20+11, 1d6)

1d20+11 : (7) + 11 = 18

1d6 : (5) = 5

Selqet draws his khopesh and positions himself to the front of the group prepared to meet the attacking constructs, taking a knee to allow arrows to be fired over his head.
OOC:
Ready to opportune parry/riposte when I'm attacked if they get here, but not moving more than to the front of the group
