Feeling more like himself now, Callum steps over to the shelves of scrolls and manuscripts to peruse them further. "I cannot place what they are, but perhaps these dusty tomes can enlighten us."

Kyra stops short of sheathing her blade. She turns her scimitar up, horizontal, parallel to the ground, unrobed arns holding it up on either end, almost at eye level. Then she utters a quick prayer, Be sharp as keen steel, she says to her sword. In an instant, her blade becoming magically sharpened to a keen edge!
OOC:
Casting Keen Edge on my sword, 80 minute duration.

Searching and assisted by magical detection, you find a 4th-level page of spell knowledge (Ultimate Equipment 314) containing the phantom chariot spell.

The room is a library and once you're ready to conduct research, you can find more information. That research is made once per full day of study, so best to clear the remainder of the dungeon first.

The two locations marked E4 are where the clockwork servants came from, and haven't yet been explored. E5 you've not been to yet.

Kyra carefully rolls up the Phantom Chariot scroll, and kindly hands it off to an arcane caster.
OOC:
Sry, IDK who’s playing what, so I’ll leave it there. :)
Shall we move back east, to the center chamber, friends?
OOC:
Kindly suggesting E5 next.

"I'll take that off your hands." Callum says and pockets the scroll for review later.

"I like that idea Kyra, but perhaps we should check where the automatons came from first, make sure nothing else sneaks up behind us."
OOC:
suggesting southern E4 first on the way to E5, but I'm down for skipping it. I'm sure everything will be juuusst fine.

OOC:
Lol. Nothing will go wrong, ever!
E4 is fine with me too.

OOC:
I know it would hamper the rules/fun of a dungeon crawl, but if this were real you'd think between the high fantasy magic, dieties, and whatever PF has for an Artificer class, someone would come up with Summon Drone to negate alot of the danger/uncertainty lol ... Or I could've just picked up a flying familiar.

In the south quarters, (room E4) you find the key to the deactivated clockwork servant in the middle room.

Also, upon inspection of the destroyed soldiers, you find 4 +1 halberds, and you can salvage 4,000gp worth of "scrap" materials.
E5: A ring of stone pillars supports a white domed ceiling above this circular chamber. Along the perimeter of the rotunda, shelves crammed with crumbling papyrus scrolls and clay tablets stand behind iron mesh doors.

Iseret notices something off about the dome, that the proportions are wrong.

Engineering: Selquet, Callum, Iseret - (1d20+4, 1d20+8, 1d20+12)

1d20+4 : (14) + 4 = 18

1d20+8 : (6) + 8 = 14

1d20+12 : (20) + 12 = 32

"What is it, Iseret?" Tabat asks, following her gaze to the dome of the chamber.
Feb 15, 2026 10:26 pm
OOC:
I don't think Iseret would hold that back, so let's assume she explains what she sees.
It's really like the dome is improperly shaped for something that has to hold weight. It shouldn't have lasted any real amount of time.
Feb 16, 2026 12:50 am
Selqet looks at the ceiling, "Should we try to throw a grappling hook up there? Or climb up to get a closer look? Or just count our luck it's lasted this long and carry on?"
Feb 16, 2026 1:08 am
"I wonder only if our eyes are deceiving us in some way. Perhaps it is a sort of illusion. Let's try the grappling hook. Though we should clear the room as much as possible first, in case we cause something to come down on top of us."
Feb 16, 2026 1:50 am
The grappling hook hits the ceiling and a there is a spray of plaster that rains down to the floor. Whatever the dome is made of, it isn't the same as the walls.

The sound it makes is odd as well. Hollow.
Feb 16, 2026 2:05 am
"I think something is up there, beyond the dome. It must not be carrying any actual weight from the building - a false ceiling. Could be decorative, but were that the case, I feel we would have seen more such installations within the building. It is odd, regardless. Perhaps if one of us could get up there..." He looks for any sort of handholds that might allow a climb.
Feb 16, 2026 2:11 am
Selqet inspects the walls, "Should we try to climb up? I have pitons we could drive into the walls?"
OOC:
Admittedly this is dipping into gear that's on my camels, so it assumes I can relatively quickly get up to the entrance where I tied them up and back down safely through the already explored parts.
Feb 16, 2026 3:16 pm
OOC:
It's a DC-10 Acrobatics check to jump the pit at the entrance so Selquet can't actually fail that, unless he's encumbered.
Feb 16, 2026 3:29 pm
OOC:
haversack keeps me safe then, I just leave behind my spare khopesh and bow so the weight of the pitons doesn't encumber me (leave it in the dome room that is)
Leaving a few carried items behind Selqet retrieves his pitons and hammer and begins hammering them into a sturdy section of wall to climb.
Feb 16, 2026 3:35 pm
Selquet's climb ability isn't great but the penalty for failure is just more time or a short drop. He eventually gets to the edge of the suspect dome, and find that it is definitely an after thought. It's attached to the wall somehow, but isn't actually a dome in the way of a supporting structure. The true wall continues upwards above it.
Feb 16, 2026 5:34 pm
"A hidden room beyond the dome?" Iseret muses aloud.
Feb 17, 2026 2:59 am
"Can you break through a small part of it with your hammer, perhaps see what's inside?" Callum asks, curious to find out.
