Generally speaking if you want to try for a safe place to camp for the evening you’d want some place you could secure in some fashion or someplace hidden. An open hallway wouldn’t necessarily satisfy either of those, particularly GIVEN you don’t know what’s down one end of it.

The only two places I can think of that might satisfy that would be the pool and anvil room as you could close yourselves in OR the forest on the way to town; sleeping in the woods is likely less dangerous than sleeping in this hallway and seeing what turns up.

Just noticed some typos.

That makes sense, thanks for clarifying that.

Apologies Team, we’ll be a bit slow (though it’s been quite slow lately) this weekend as I’m away.

Will try to get things going later today…

Remember the kit you have on you and also think about what environmental elements you might be able to use.

My descriptions of locations may be a bit austere, so if you want to know if there is something specific you can ask. In some instances you can assume. For instance, I've only described a few instances of where there are specifically sconces or torch holder on the walls, but given this place was habited by dwarven preists or monks of some kind, the would have needed light everywere.

Use items from our inventory??? Who would have thought that ;) Thanks for the reminder!

Ciao Team, I'm quite happy to continue at a slower pace (Sorry Borgo!) but if you all want to call it a day, we can say the remaining party run back to town to fight another day? Or if you want to continue, we can retire back to town and I can try to recruit a couple more players?

I hadn't tried to recruit anyone earlier as I thought things were coming to a head; it's not a huge adventure. Let me know what you think.

I'm happy to keep playing, but I agree, things have slowed down quite a bit with responding.
Mar 24, 2026 11:04 pm
I'm here..
Mar 26, 2026 4:27 am
Any recommendations on how you'd like to proceed moving forwards? Play it out? I think we still have three. Or skip ahead to town and look for reinforcements?

If you want to play it out, just let me know what the two conscious people want to do now. Retreat to somewhere resonably safe inside the complex?

Otherwise, I'll narrate a trip back to town to lick you wounds and advertise for a couple more.

I'm good with continuing but open if the others prefer more players
Mar 26, 2026 6:37 pm
Well, since its a death trap, leaving is our best option.
Mar 29, 2026 4:20 pm
I’m also here, though I’ve been quite absent from GP for the last ten days or so.

Borgo is unconscious, so he doesn’t get a vote, but it does look like we’re woefully unprepared / outmatched by the dungeon we’re exploring. So having more adventurers join would make sense IC. There is, I believe, little chance we will level before the end of the adventure, correct? I’m okay with recruiting more players, but if you want us to try to push on with just the four of us, we can… Borgo just needs to get back on his feet, so I he can be somewhat helpful.

There seem to be only the three of you left. Was hoping Dante_dark was still here but it appears he’s been gone for while.

I’ll narrate at trip back to town and see if I can get a couple of others to join us.

Sounds like a good idea, Dhakhan.
Apr 6, 2026 6:35 am
Okay. Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy Easter holiday.
Apr 6, 2026 6:53 am
While we wait, do you have an comments or criticisms of the game so far? Recommendation? I've been trying to come to terms with the ShadowDark's mindset (an OSR minset) on things like traps, etc. and balancing that with playing PbP. I'm still coming to terms with actually thinking about light in a meaningful way.

How has my descriptions been? I tend towards wordiness and over-explaining (to the point of making things unclear) in real life and have been trying to not do that here, while providing enough description to give you guys something to work with and or embelish on.

I apologize for typos and confusing text. I do a lot of posting from mobile and "swiping" and my failure to proof read can result in strange issues.

Treasures found: 3 XP each player in total.

Bag of 30GP -1xp

Potion of Fire Breath -1xp
This potion allows the imbiber to spew a tongue of flame any time within one hour of quaffing the liquid. Each potion contains enough liquid for four small drafts. One draft allows the imbiber to breathe a cone of fire 10' wide and up to 20' long that inflicts 1d4+1 points of damage. A double draft doubles the range and damage. A triple draft trebles the range and damage. If the entire potion is taken at once, the cone is 20' wide, up to 80' long, and inflicts 4d4+4 points of damage. Dex save vs DC 13 for half damage apply in all cases. If the flame is not expelled before the hour expires, the potion fails, with a 10% chance that the flames erupt in the imbiber's system, inflicting double damage with no saving throw allowed.

Weighty glass bottle with a thick dark red liquid which only passes some of light through. Gently shaking this bottle generates slow opalescent eddies of oranges and yellows. There are four distinct marks on the side which you now know indicate dosages.

Potion of Treasure Finding -1xp
A potion of treasure finding empowers the drinker with a location sense, so that he or she can point to the direction of the nearest mass of treasure. The treasure must be within 240 yards, and its mass must equal metal of at least 10GP or 1 gem or any combination. Note that only valuable metals (copper, silver, electrum, gold, platinum) and gems and jewelry, are located. The potion won't locate worthless metals or magical items that don't contain precious metals or gems. The imbiber of the potion can "feel" the direction in which the treasure lies, but not its distance.

Intervening substances other than special magical wards or lead-lined walls cannot withstand the powers that the liquor bestows upon the individual. The effects of the potion last for 5d4 rounds. (Clever players will attempt triangulation.)

A glass bottle containing a thin clear fluid, like water, which moves freely agains the sides of the bottle as you give it a little shake and myriad tiny flecks of gold and silver swirl around inside, with a tiny glint of blue, red or green appearing here and there as well.

Greetings all! I will be joining you for the remainder of the adventure.

Just a couple of questions before I start character creation:

- What level character should I create?
-Are there any skill/role gaps in the party that my character could fill?

Welcome Joe_Blivion! Good to have reinforcements. We are all lvl 1 still, and we have lost a priest and a fighter. My character, Borgo, is a goblin thief. I’ll let the other PCs present themselves, so you have a better idea of what bases we have covered.

Since your class will be dictated to a large degree by the order of your rolls, however, the point is rather moot.
Apr 8, 2026 11:33 pm
Thanks. I'd like to see what other classes we have before character creation, if possible.
