Okay Team,

We'll start once everyone has a character up and running. I'll create the game chat by tomorrow morning (my time) with a recap of the setup, a bit of ancillary info and the actual beginning. People can introduce their characters and we can go. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything.

Have a read through the info I've put in the game rules and other threads that are relevant to you. Note that the "posting etiquette" is new for me as well. I'm not a curmudgeon so am not going to "rap people's knuckles" about it. Just looking to make things easier for all to find/read.

Okay! Looks like we are ready to roll! I’ll get the game thread up with starting point in a couple of hours. Then you can introduce yourselves a you take your first steps.

Will post in the game rules how I’ll run initiative (thinking free turns (with some management) until combat. Don’t think I want to try SD’s strict "turns" in PBP. I think I’ll use the light management process I saw in Dante_dark’s game (can’t remember where he got it from at the moment to credit them).

Wasn't sure what to do there. Albrecht was taking a while and I'm keen to keep combat going. I was initially going to post as Albrecht but since I hadn't discussed this kind of thing with you guys yet, I opted just to move forward with the Skelly's.

Sorry, I have been absent. It has been a whirlwind of a weekend. I am in Mountain Time. I looked it up, and I am in GMT-7.

I was a bit slower getting that out today than I'd hoped.

An FYI, I will be travelling this week. I'll have internet access, so it shouldn't affect posting.

Regarding the timezones, I'll try to put together a little "time wheel" diagram, which should give an indivation of at least day/night cycles for each of us, and when we might generally line up (IRL commitments not considered of course).

Early days, but how are things going so far? Are people waiting to see the outcomes of certain posts before contributing? I haven't wanted to accidentally squash anyones contribution by chiming in too quickly with a result of an individual's actions (when I can).

It’s all got a very natural feel and flow, in my opinion. Speaking just for myself, I tend to respond as soon as you’ve posted, not waiting for others to chime in. Trying to keep that "we’re always in initiative" mindset from Shadowdark…

I think it's going good. I got a little swamped with some personal stuff this weekend so I have been a little slow to post, but it's been fun.

I'm having fun playing Shadowdark again, thanks for running the game. ☺️ I've missed playing this system lol

Just and FYI, ShadowDark does not have a mechanic for passive perception or investigation. So, just because you walk across a space carefully and don't die, it doesn't mean it's safe. >: )

Not speaking of anything in particular, just that I'm only going to interpret you actions as written. Having a look around will only spot obvious things and points of interest only. Or perhaps your backgrouds might note something as "interesting" to one person which might not illicit a reaction during a look around from anther person.

For example, Borgo is "checking the anvil", but for what? And how is he doing so? I'm just assuming he's having a look around for anything obvious. If there had been a trap along the side, I would have determined he tripped it, though depending what kind of trap it was I would have given him advantage on his save, or setup a scene where triggered the trap and would have to extricate himself somehow or bad stuff.

That's how I figured my actions were being interpreted as well. I assumed there was no trap on the way or immediately on the anvil so I didn't say I was explicitly looking for traps on the floor or on the anvil. For now I'm taking this room to be a ritualistic space.

Great! I've been playing PBP on and off for a few years, but I still feel like a newbie at this kind of disjointed communications. So I want to try to make sure, I'm not misinterpreting things and we're all on the same page expectations-wise.

No worries, I will make sure to indicate when I'm actively looking for something. And I won't complain when, given my descriptions, you decide that I was not looking for a specific kind of threat.

Dhakhan, I'm a little turned around in the adventure. Is there a map that we could look at? Just the rooms we have seen thus far?

Okay! Here we go! Your party came into the location from the stairs on the right. You encountered the skelies in the main room with the big design on the floor. You opened the door to the right of the stair (as if looking into the room from them), and enter the the hall and the Anvil room with the two pools of water and the recess with the big ol' anvil.

Sorry the shape of the design is a bit wonky.

Bahahahaha! I wish! It's from the module itself. The apps I used was Snip. :D It is a lovely little map. It's half the reason I chose it. I'm a sucker for isomancy. ...For the uninitiated,"Isomancy" means the magic of generating isometric maps. I wish.

Sorry, have been feeling a bit unwell and basically crashed not long after getting home these past couple of nights.

For the currnent "round" I'm just waiting on Lattremond and Berith's actions before I apply Elsbaeths. That a before e thing gets me every time.

Just a note on posting your actions. If you post out of order (which I encourage) you are free to change depending upon what people who are ahead of you in the intitative order have posted. As long as I haven't made a ruling on what has happened. Normally, I'll arrange the posts in order, and decide what happens, but if you get there before I do, then your edited post is what happens.

Also if there is an instance where I think your post was made redundant or illogical by the post of someone higher in the turn order I'll ask if you want to edit your action.

Posting pace has been slowing down quite a bit. With the Silly Season upon us, do people want to take a break until after new year? Or can you all keep playing over the holiday period?

Just thinking about Borgo. I’ll have to think about that house rule a bit with medics and healing kits. Maybe limit the "healing" to out of combat and reviving only in combat….
