Storm on the Horizon

Halav manages to pry the woman mouth and empties the content of the pouch down her throat. It takes a few long minutes before the frothing at her mouth begins to thin, and her breathings to steady. The gamble seems to have paid off; whatever was in the pouch (at least, some of these herbs), was an antidote, or at least close enough to one. The woman's pulse is still very weak, and her skin is pale. It would likely take hours before the poison fully fades from her system.

She would live, but the forest grows darker by the minute, and there might be more spiders deeper inside.
Do you make camp and guard her until she recovers, or try to carry her with you through the forest to Verge?

Moving her around till the poison is weak or gone is best. We can leave in the morning and hopefully she is better. I don't think there is any more we can do for here. Can either of you ID what those herbs were that we forced down her? "

Halav considers the herbs and what they might be!

Miyana relaxes when the elven woman appears to stir. She considers the herbs as well.

Halav and Miyana manage to identify several familiar herbs that serve as antidotes for spider and serpent venom. There were some regular roots and forest berries in the mix well. Maybe part of the elf provisions, or maybe just for flavor.
OOC:
I'm assuming you make camp here, like Barns suggested?
@WanderOne - Barns can spend the time brewing the wolfsbane elixir in the meantime.

https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3c/01/91/3c0191fa0132070fc71b256d7c9168a2.jpg Mage Barns does what he can to brew down the wolfsbane elixir. He thinks at least tomorrow morning we can head back to town and deal with the mayor. He can only hope that goes well. "Hopefully this will aid the mayor."

He watches over the elf while not on shift for watch and sleeping. There is a low light fire for the night as not to draw too much attention. Living in camps is nothing new to Barns. He has spent a great deal of time in the wild and knows how to survive. "Not too bad of a spot for the night."

Hunter Barns will look about for tracks with the thought of protection and possible easy game for a meal tonight. "Some fresh meat for the night will be so much better than rations. Most everything is." He might even find something worth getting some fur from. He can always use some extra coin. He has a longbow for hunting.

There’s no need for Barns to hunt for food; several of the web-cocoons hold the remains of deer and boar, and with some careful cutting, you manage to recover enough untainted meat for a decent meal.

You make camp, as the fire burns low beneath the canopy you hear the faint scraping of legs; more spiders arriving to reclaim the territory of their fallen kin. They watch you with dozen of hungry eyes, but they don't descend from the tree branches. They are patient hunters, and prefer their prey to wander into their webbings.

It is a very uneasy night, but when dawn finally arrives you wake to the moan of the eleven woman, stirring slowly. Her eyes flutter, and slowly open, but once she notices you she becomes wild and terrified. She quickly reaches for the blade at her side, hand closing at the hilt as she looks between you.

What do you do?

anyone knows Elven? ;)

Barns doesn't fear the giant spiders as surely the wise enough to understand what happened to the three giant spider corpses nearby. That and the fire to further warn them away.

Surprisingly Barns is fluent in Elven and decides now is fine time to apply that learned language. He says to her in Elven, "There is no need friend. You are among those that have saved you from the venom of the deadly spiders. I'm called 'Barns'. It is well to see your pouch of herbs saved your life.

He adds on in Elven, "I hope your fit to travel soon as we are due to be somewhere else."

He looks to the others and speaks in Traladarn (Common) as he is sure that they don't understand Elven, "Anything you wishing to convey to her now that she is communicating. "

Miyana looks up from breaking fast and says something in the elven tongue. "A, mae ein gwestai yn effro. Arhoswch, chwaer. Rydyn ni'n ffrindiau. Cawsoch eich dal a'ch gwenwyno gan bryfed cop. Yn ffodus, fe wnaeth y perlysiau yn eich cwdyn eich iacháu."

There’s just not enough time, in divinity, to be bothered with learning the Elvish tongue! lol
Nonetheless, our neolegendary fellow displays valiant approval of his fair-speaking friends. Halav nods kindly to the elven woman. Surely, whatever was said, was very nice indeed!

Elven Woman

The elven woman looks nervously between you, and her grip on her knife tightens when Barns speaks, holding it so tightly her arm begins to tremble. It is only when Miyana, too, addresses in fluent Elvish that she begins to soften, and hesitantly lowers her blade.

She tries to stand up, but her legs give way beneath her, and she slumps back against the bedroll. "Water..." she murmurs. It is an absurd request, considering the heavy rain outside your tents, but she doesn't have a flask handy. Instead of waiting for one of you to produce one, she leans over to a nearby puddle, and shamelessly laps the water like a forest animal.

"I must go" she says after wiping her mouth with her hand "My tribe will think me dead" She pauses, eyes looking out at the forest, rather than at you, even as she continues to talk "You must leave as well. It isn't safe for you here"
OOC:
the woman's blade is made out of pure silver - not an unreasonable precaution, considering this forest was where Hans was bitten by a werewolf...

I do see the need for a bit of delay till the weather isn't so unforgiving. Would you like some ration go with that puddle." as he is getting out some ration and his waterskin. He retains to keep his continue light rock out for light.

He adds on, "You could at least inform us of your name so we may boast that saved you."

Miyana is quick to provide the woman with a proper drink from her waterskin. "Os ydych chi eisiau mynd, fyddwn ni ddim yn eich atal chi, ond mae Barns yn iawn am y tywydd."

Aelatharienneth (Aela)
The elf looks up at Barns. She doesn't understand 'boast', really, as the word has no accurate translation in elven, but she gives him her name nonetheless "Aelatharienneth of the Silver Glades"

She refuses his offer of rations, the salted meat particularly causing her to grimace with disgust "I'll be fine"
The rain doesn't deter her, and she makes another attempt to push herself off the ground. This time, she manages to rise to one knee before her strength falters again, and she has to take quick breaths to steady herself. It would be hours before she regained enough of her strength to walk again
OOC:
Aela would leave after she feels well again to her tribe. Unless you have any questions for her, we can move on to your arrival at Verge?

The castle gates lie ahead of you, but the iron portcullis that once barred the entrance now lay twisted and half-buried in the mud, torn from its hinges as if hit by a battering ram. The heavy chains that held it are likewise broken, hanging and swaying in the wind a slow creak.

You see no guards in sight, but from beyond the entrance, you can hear sounds coming from within the courtyard.

What do you do?
OOC:
for clarification, the portcullis is lying outside the castle gates, which means that it was 'blasted' from inside the castle.

"Thea, stay back!" Harald draws his sword and walks after Halav, into the courtyard.

Inside, you find Lord Bowell standing bare chested in the pouring rain. He picks up a spear from the rack, and throwing it like a javelin he hurls it with such force that the shaft goes right through the wooden archery target, burying itself deep in the stone wall behind. He grunts, and picks up another spear, and then another, tossing them one after the other at the target.
