[Closed] Recruitment Thread for Rifts FAE game

Come join me in the post post apocalypse or Rifts Earth, played using Fate Accelerated Edition.

Adult Content and Controversial Themes
This game is violent. There are hard lines for me regarding sexual violence and violence against children, but a lot of other dark stuff is on the table for this game. I will work with the players to develop other lines and veils at the outset of the game and as they come up.

Game duration and Post frequency
I'd like to keep a pace of once a day five days a week for posting. I expect this game to last at least six months. If the group wants to continue after that time we can.

Specialized Software and Resources
None.

Player Experience Requirements
None. Fate Accelerated is easy to learn, and I don't require knowledge of the setting to apply to the game.

I'm curious about this campaign. I have near-zero knowledge of Rifts, but a kitchen sink seems to create opportunities for all sorts of characters. Though the mention of using Scale is slightly intimidating, given the rumours that different concepts in Rifts have vastly different power levels (whose differences I'm not familiar with).

@vicky_molokh You can play just about anything. The game setting skews more toward combat, but I hope to have lots of exploration and role-playing as well.

I'm interested, but currently drowning in work. Next Tuesday I'll have a better idea if my availability can match the desired pace.

I'd probably submit a Headhunter or a Robot Pilot. Not sure if you'd have a preference between the two.

Not sure if I'd comb through my old Rifts books for a 'bot or if I'd just make something up, honestly.

Hmm. On a skim, cyborgs and techno-wizards seem of interest, though I'm unsure what either is capable of narratively in this interpretation of the campaign. Also 'True Atlanteans' seem like some sort of mysterious bloodline with special properties? That's also interesting but shrouded in mystery.

Your character is capable of whatever the narrative states. A cyborg will be very tough and strong, and probably have some built in gadgets. A techno-wizard creates magical devices. Find or come up with a character concept and we can make it work.

So not very strictly tied to the canonical occupations and abilities? Cool.

Roster of players will be finalised on the 27th, right?

It's probably worth pointing out that even inasmuch as the Rifts setting is already a hodgepodge of demons, robots, wizards, psychics, mutants, aliens, dinosaurs and such, it also regularly experiences interdimensional portals that dump new stuff into the mix. With the flexibility of FAE, it's really easy to justify just about anything you cared to.

That said, I was looking through my old books and the nostalgia got me. I think I am gonna move forward with a Momano Headhunter - kind of a monster hunting bionic jedi dealio.

Do you know how you're breaking up the scales yet?

This sounds important and mysterious and reliant on Rifts knowledge that I lack. Would either of you be willing to elaborate?

It’s actually related to Fate. I’m going to have different characters take (probably by spending stunts or refresh) different levels of power, or scales of power. A combat cyborg can rip a regular humans arms out of his sockets. They’re not on the same power level. And then what can a giant robot do to the cyborg. And then there’s the godlike alien intelligences and dragons and literal deities.

I think I’ll go with the scale levels in Dresden Files Accelerated, which is the Dresden Files RPG converted to Fate Accelerated rules. I’ll lay them out for the players when we get started.

Were you running the last time this was tried? I'd give it another go.

Very cool idea. I'm in your other game starting up - so I won't try for a spot here. However - if you come up one person short - let me know and I might jump in.

Since I didn't make the other FAE game I would like to get into this one. Any suggestions on books, sites, or other reference to familiarize myself with the setting? My idea for the other Eberon game, a Gnomish Artificer, should work in this seeing from what I have read, but I could switch it to more of a technopath and/or mech pilot. One reason to learn more :)

Though some more about this. So far my thoughts were leaning towards something like an EM-Wielding Technomancer, as a refinement of the 'technowizardish' direction (since I don't know the original lore, this is a mostly 'engage in creativity in a vacuum' kind of concept-making). Hopefully that's not much of a potential concept collision.

I'll provide resource materials to the players when we get started with character creation. There is a wiki here. I can't vouch for it's completeness. It is a place to start.
