7. Return to the Halls

Jacky pulls on the burgundy boots. Although his halfling feet are shaped very differently from those of the previous wearer, he finds that they fit remarkably well. Jacky takes a few test strides and is mightily impressed - these are by far the most comfortable boots he has ever worn - and that’s saying something for a halfling who often prefers to go barefoot.

"I don't feel cursed," Jacky remarks. "Hmm. I've half a mind to see what happens if I rub some dust on them, but it seems a shame to do it while they're so clean."

No, they fit so perfectly that they are unencumbering when worn.

Zach smiles as he watches Jacky prance around in the boots. "Looking good, Jennifer! They suit you.

Grim gathers the warhammer from fallen kin. Uttering another brief prayer, and looping it into his brown leather belt!

Jacky suggests that they split up and search both chambers for a hidden passage. After all, the spiders that made the web had to have come from somewhere.

Zach trundles after Jacky, knocking the hilt of his bastard sword against the walls, pretending to know what he is doing.

Collectively, it takes 3 turns to fully search both of the side chambers. During this period, Hector’s torch burns out, and he lights another.

Disappointingly, you discover nothing of interest.

Ellagel hands the chain mail over to Eric. He could well carry the bulky armor until something more precious came into the party’s possession.

Carry it well Eric, Grim says solemnly. It was well worn by a fellow of kith and kin. We must eventually get it back to the clan safely.

Dutifully and respectfully, Eric stows the dwarf’s armour in his backpack.

That drops Eric’s movement down to 90’.

"Thanks, Eric." Jacky remarks. He turns to survey the two chambers once more, faintly bemused at the lack of continuation. "Well, if there's no passage to find in these, maybe it opens from the inside." He shrugs. "Or I suppose the builders could've stopped partway."

The halfling will motion for the others to follow back to the exit, but slowly and watchful for anyone that might have been drawn by the smoke.

Jacky leads the crew back out into the fresh air of the cliff face. Visibility (and hearing) is always something of an issue due to the proximity of the thunderous waterfall, but as far as he can tell, there is no other presence in the vicinity, draconic or otherwise.

Thrudmarr stays quiet during the search. Once back outside, he points up at the city. "Keep look in city for new go-in place?"

"If we have time. We must make it to the Sign of the Broken Head before nightfall..." Ella commented as she took her place in the walking line.

"That room we explored earlier might serve as a camp too," Jacky ventures. "I wouldn't mind poking about the left side of the waterfall while we're here. You saw a path, right, Thrud?"

"Not sure I want to risk spending the night up on this cliff, Jacky," the elf pondered, as the party prepared to move onward. "We've been somewhat lucky so far, but who knows what monstrosities prowl here druing the night?"

Shouldering his pack, Zach trundles along, glad to let the others do the heavy thinking. Zach is looking forward to trying out some of the new skills he learned in town.
