"Tyrus! Kara sent us! She's waiting for you, don't let him control you!"

Hesitant to turn his spear on his blinded fellow villager, Nikk charges after Hobb, taking aim at the wounded cultist.
OOC:
Yes! I finally hit something!

6 Damage to the red-robed guy next to Hobb.

I grunt wrestling and maneuvering against Tyrus, using my strength to try and throw off his grappling move; with care, since he's from the village, and avoid being thrown into the river of blood.

"Tyrus, mate, it's Llewellyn! Steady yourself! We've come to rescue you and the others!"

Rolls

Strength Check - (1d20+3)

Tyrus grabs Llewellyn in an unearthly grip, straining against the warrior's bulk. But as he struggles, his eyes begin burning, the world becomes blurry, and his vision is lost. He releases Llewellyn and falls to the ground, where a bolt of magical energy, launched from Orm's fingertips, slams into his chest. Tyrus shakes as his final breath leaves his body.
OOC:
Tyrus is down.
Nikkghak scurries to Hobb's side and plunges a well-placed spear between the cultist's ribs. He falls, Nikk's spear still attached to his body.
OOC:
Red 3 is down.
Ivar's arrow speeds across the room and pierces the cloth at the shoulder of Moloch's chainmail armor. It embeds itself into his flesh, but the cult's evil apostle does not seem phased.
OOC:
Moloch took some damage.
The remaining cult acolytes spring into action after seeing their comrades mowed down. Red 3 runs to one of the villagers, pulls a knife, and threatens to plunge it into the villager's side. "Back off, or I'll kill him!" Red 4 darts forward, unsheathing his shortsword, and swings at Hobb. The attack swings wide, slicing over the halfling's head (sometimes there are benefits to being small).
OOC:
Round 9
Moloch raises a gauntleted hand and speaks: "Ramlaat thirsts for your blood, witch!" Lillit begins to feel a powerful force pushing her body towards the river of blood. She leans forward and attempts to keep her footing.
OOC:
@Drgwen I need a DC 13 Strength Check from Lillit to keep from being pushed into the river by Moloch's Sanguine Grip.

- Moloch just took his first turn.

"Like all the Hells you will," I bellow at the cultist threatening to stab one of the villagers.

I charge, dashing over the fallen Tyrus, shield forward, and bashing it into the cultist stabbing my own sword at the cultist, hoping the bring him down and protect the villager.

Hobb would surely have raced for Moloch, had the cultist not tried to give him a haircut just a second earlier.

"I’m down here!" the grumpy old Halfling jibes, as he brings his mace up to the chin of his attacker!
OOC:
Don’t Hafllings get auto re-rolls on 1s? ㅠㅠ I have to blow luck to avoid the 1!

Lillit senses the magical tug from Moloch and feels her feet sliding toward the awful bubbling blood. She reaches back and grabs the doorframe behind her and holds on for dear life. Long before all this--before her family died, before she was inducted into the coven--she worked on family's farm and had become a strong young farm girl. That strength serves her now to keep her from falling in.

Once the pull subsided, she turns and points a finger at Moloch. Her familiar reveals itself now, slithering out of her robe and down her arm, standing up and hissing at Moloch. In her other hand, she holds the snake whip. She looks at Moloch and says, "You are weak. You do not serve the serpent. You do not know the serpent. Not as I. So you? You will die."

She casts Eyebite on him!
OOC:

"Pick on someone your own size!" Nikk grunts as he pulls the spear from the cultist's body, and then swipes at the one attacking Hillshire's finest halfling. "Or at least two people half your size!"

OOC:
Woo, this is exciting! Great work, everyone. Moloch does have a few more tricks up his sleeves.

@Drgwen I agree. That was an awesome post! I agree, it deserves a luck token. I flip a luck token through the air to Drgwen.
Llewellyn bounds across the ritual chamber and slams into Red 3. He plunges his sword into the cultist's gut, and it exits through his back. He slumps to the ground before he is able to kill the villager. Villager 1, an older gentleman with a graying pate looks to Llewellyn with wide eyes. He releases his held breath. "Thank you!"

Hobb and Nikkghak pincher attack Red 4, and as his body is falling to the ground, a bolt of magical energy hits his body as well.

Lillit and Ivar both send able attacks at the master of the Red Hand. He absorbs the damage and keeps going.

From behind them, Orm, Ivar, and Lillit hear the sounds of footsteps. Two more red-robed cultists enter from the hallway. "Hey! It's the ones sent us to the kitchen." They unsheathe their short swords and attack.
OOC:
I'll roll dice to see which they attack...
1 = Orm
2 = Ivar
3 = Lillit

And...they suck. LOL
Red 5 and Red 6 swing opposite each other and cross swords as they attempt to attack their targets.
OOC:
Round 10
Moloch strides forward and pulls his longsword from its sheath. The blade is wicked-looking, twisted, black, and impossibly sharp. "Must I always do things myself!" Moloch screams. He stabs Villager 3 through her heart, the blade peeking out of the front of her jerkin. He shudders and laughs with glee as the villager dies before him. He rips his blade from the villager, blood drips to the ground, and coalesces before him. "Ramlaat! Another sacrifice for you, my lord!" He looks towards the heavens and raises his sword above his head. "Bless me, lord of darkness and chaos, with thy power. DARKNESS FALLS!" And as Moloch screams, the ritual chamber shakes, and a foul wind bursts through the door behind the pulpit and rushes about the chamber and extinguishes Orm's lantern.
OOC:
The room is plunged into total darkness. Until the light is restored, please roll at disadvantage.

perhaps compassion is overrated Orm thinks as the two previously disposed guards return. That thought is quickly replaced by panic as moments later the room is engulfed in sheer darkness.

The wizard takes a breath to calm himself, then kneels and spends a moment rummaging through his backpack, using his memory to find the spare oil and refill the lantern, all the while trying to keep the thought of a sword plunging into him through the blackness at bay.
OOC:
not sure is this requires a roll, but seems appropriate.

OOC:
We NEED light. Does anyone have the Light spell? If not, get to lighting a torch or lantern, yeah? We have Disadvantage to re-light a torch or lantern, yes? And it is a DC 12 DEX check to light something by feel, I believe. But THIEVES don't have disadvantage, yes? I'm gonna try an alternative that will depend on GM ruling.
Lillit feels in her bag for one of the three flasks of oil and her tinderbox. She steps one stride forward, knowing there be stone in front of her. She then dumps the oil on the stone on the square now in front of her, and throws her tinderbox sparks at the ground, hoping to ignite the spilled oil.
OOC:
OK, so here's my thinking. A pool of oil should be SUPER easy to light in the dark as long as I know where it is. And yes, Lillit will make sure she pours in on the ground IN FRONT OF her. Not IN her square or on herself! So hopefully I have a much lower DC to light the oil this way! There will be a bit of an environmental obstacle in that square but so be it. Also, it won't burn for more than a few turns, I imagine, since it isn't in a lantern, but this will give us all light!
OOC:
I'll spend that Luck token I just got, just in case that wasn't good enough, to replace that 7.

EDIT: Whelp. I sure tried.

As the scene plunges into darkness Ivar will shoulder his bow and draw his short sword and try to maneuver behind the new comers who came up behind them. Being a thief is at home in the dark so he is hoping to get around for a backstab..
OOC:
I have no troches. These being thief actions am I still at disadvantage? Iwill make the second roll just in case.

Hobb sees light flickering about him. His allies would surely have a torch lit before long. And so, the Halfling merely runs at the sound of new voices in the doorway!

"You should have stayed gone!" he threatens and swings at their shins and knees (just as the light bursts to life?)

I grunt, hoping for now a short distance between myself and the leader will be a gulf, as the darkness is a crisis among my companions, the Wayfinders. I snatch a torch off of my backpack and attempt to expediently light it, so we'll all have at least some point of light, that hopefully the cult leader can't extinguish so immediately.

I consider it wiser to attack the cult leader now, but reconsider, since the darkness puts me at such a disadvantage, but also the delay does, too.

Gede, preserve me as I bring light back from the Darkness. If you are receiving this prayer, please preserve me from this Ramlaat villain that these evil ones sacrifice to! I uttered a silent prayer as I snapped light onto the torch as best as I could, putting my shield away so I could hold the torch, and still hold my sword.

My next move would be to slash my sword at the churlsome cult leader who so wantonly killed a villager as he did. It would be time for his due to come, if I had my way.

Nikk barely has time to catch his breath as the foul villain hits the floor, when suddenly the world around him goes dark. Swirling around, hearing the confusion breaking out all around, he hears the sound of fighting where they came from.

Following close behind Puddlefoot, he makes a violent stab towards where the new reinforcements have come, hoping quietly he didn't just stab the dwarf wizard to death.
