Iroven raised his shield and then swung viciously at the spirit that was flanked by Tomas.
OOC:
1st action - raise shield, 2-3rd action - vicious swing. I think its a critical and it activates the critical specialization effect for sword. Target is offguard upto my next turn. So, that's like 24 damage?

With the flanking provided by Iroven, Tomas is able to stab one of the poltergeist twice, and while it is somewhat resistant to the damage, he strikes hard enough that it still feels it.

The other poltergeist sends another blast of stones around it. Iroven takes some stone in his back (11 damage), as does Tomas (15 damage) and Koram (10 damage).

The rest avoids the worst of it.

Iroven isn’t one to be outshined by Tomas, and swings out with a mighty swing that critically damages the creature. As it is struck, it dissipates, leaving behind a small goo of ectoplasm.

Artesia sends another healing wave, hurting the remaining poltergeist and bringing strength back to her allies.
OOC:
With the blue poltergeist down, it is Koram and Tomas.

OOC:
I'll call the fight here, as I am on holiday and hard to do combat from laptop. It would probably die next round anyway and none of you are in the danger zone.

"A sure strike, Tomas! Well done, everyone." Koram bends down gives Haitith a little hug, "You too, friend."

He takes a closer look at the monoliths, but fails to recognize anything about them.

Artesia is able to recall some facts about Poltergeists. She knows they will reform over time unless whatever brought them to unlife is dealt with.
Aug 20, 2025 7:46 am
"What do you suppose they cling to undeath for?" Koram asks, "I thought I heard one of them say 'Return Him' - who is 'him', do you think?"

OOC:
A reminder that Artesia and Tomas had a vision just before they appeared.
Aug 24, 2025 12:17 am
Tomas tell the others about the majestic griffin that hurried them away to the southwest.
OOC:

He will also give some thought to the meaning. He is unsure if he should bound southeast, or cower from the skies

"Seems the griffin took something...or somone. Perhaps we were meant to experience this vision and come across these restless souls, to put them to rest. If the griffin left to the south-west, we could just as easily follow in that direction. If we come across anything, we may well do some good here and make this place safe again."

Iroven listened to Koram and nodded, "A griffin? We need to be careful about these spirits then. Let's proceed in that direction. Hopefully, we will find more information."

It takes a few days to trek up into the mountains. You are uncertain what you're looking for, but on the third day Iroven notices the skeleton of a cave bear, you can see it has taken damage from big claws, he is also able to see white feathers on the ground nearby.

"Let's keep our eyes on the skies" Tomas reminds the others are we investigate the fallen beast.
OOC:
Nature check to confirm this is normal griffins

You can in fact tell that this is what is known as a northern griffon. Though they are very similar to the regular kind, they do have hindquarters of a lynx and the upper body of a snowy owl. You know that wild griffons rely on their powerful wings to hold them aloft and their keen eyesight to spy out prey. The speed with which they plunge toward the ground and snatch up victims is astonishing. They often tear apart a kill's flesh with razor-sharp beaks but not before alighting to secluded location where they can enjoy their meal without interruption. Griffons hunting to feed their chicks are more cautious, tearing apart prey rather than risking bringing a living creature back to their nests.

You can also recall that they are known for their terrifying shrieks, that can make even the bravest warrior think twice about fighting one of them.

Koram bends down and brings Haitith close. "I'll keep us protected with some magic, friend." He casts a spell to ensure safety if Haitith is hurt too badly, knowing he can bring his friend back from the Astral plane after the trouble has passed.

Standing, he addresses the group. "If this creature relies on sight to find its prey, I might be able to help. I have a spell that can envelop up to five of us in a cloak of invisibility, but it does only last ten minutes. It would be best for us to catch the creature on the ground, if possible."
OOC:
He casts Summoner's Precaution, then if the others agree the spell is helpful, he'll keep Shared Invisibility ready to cast.
Sep 4, 2025 3:43 am
"Let save the spell for a critical junction" Tomas replies
