Our ebony erelander stands silently stalwart. Dawnward held tight in her grip. With fervent resolve, she eventually replies simply and confidently, I am ready.

It shouldn't come to anyone's surprise that Jasir memorizes the chant after hearing it once. It's kind of well within the wheelhouse of the Sarcosan scholar. "My conventional arts will not provide much aid against the dead. Though... should the need arise I can cast stones at a surprising rate," he admits when Petra broaches the topic. Besides that he moves to find a place for his pack and prepares to join in the ritual, or lead it as necessary.

Seelah sheathes Dawnward, and pulls a light throwing hammer from her belt. Simply to have opening-ranged capacity if necessary.

The dwarrow blesses six stones in the primal dwarvish tongue, feeling the surge of Aryth's power through her that spreads across the smooth surfaces like a ripple on a pond.

She holds all six out to Jasir, the only companion so far who vocally accepted her offer.


"I will lead this ritual," she offers, feeling a personal connection to combating the curse upon the Fell from her shared memory that seems to have hushed her fellows into silence on the matter.


When everyone seems ready (to either join in, or defend the perimeter), she begins the Norther chant in a steady voice.
OOC:
Spend 2 spell energy points (out of 8 daily) to cast magic stone twice. ((2d6+2 vs undead when strike, last 30 min.))

Spend 1 more spell energy point for the ritual, new daily total 3/8. Yes, 8....I keep finding my character sheet did not save certain Level 5 updates like I thought.

Jasir bows his head as he takes the stones from Petra and tucks them into his belt pouch for ease of access. When the time comes and the group is prepared he goes through the familiar motions to cast his own spell. A sweep of his hand clears away oil, seeking to wash away the symbols in Blacktongue.

He then makes ready to join in the ritual.

Using the Prestidigitation to perform the pathfinder equivalent of PowerWash Simulator on the oil-script.

Before she begins the chant and while Jasir is clearing away the Black Speech, Varin takes out his sling.

Petra interprets that to mean the elfling would accept her ammunition as well, so she blesses six more stones and hands them to him.

The dwarrow blinks away a spot of dizziness and her gut gurgles once. Channeling Aryth leaves her a bit more peckish and off balance, especially multiple spell workings in a row. But she hasn't actually even begun to push herself beyond her usual limits, not yet.


She's ready to begin, and nods to her companions before letting their combined words build in the frosted air.

@SMILEY: Petra uses 2 further spell energy points (now 5/8 for the day) and passes 6 magical stones to Varin.

They can be thrown 20 feet or a sling can send them 50 feet (or 60 feet if it is a Great Sling from the Midnight setting).

Each stone deals 2d6+2 damage to undead. Or 1d6+1 to a regular target.

After collecting a good pile of rocks, Úlfr gets soap and rags out to begin cleaning the ichorous markings from the stones.

Jasir steps forward, jaw set against the cold, arcane syllables curling with his breath. A flick of his wrist and a faint blue spark of prestidigitation dances across the cairn face, pulling oily Black-Tongue sigils from the stone like tar drawn from a wound. The grime beads, then lifts away on the wind, leaving the rune beneath stark and raw. A black flash erupts from the silhouette of where the mark previously defaced the cairn. It ripples through the cairns, afflicting every living thing in it's wake with negative energy before dissipating in the frigid air.

For an instant that rune flares pale silver, as if recalling the watch, it once kept… then gutters out. Silence hangs.

A low groan answers from beneath the snow. Another. Powder sloughs off nearby cairns as shapes heave upward: gaunt figures in Dorn battle-mail, flesh frost-burnt, eye sockets glowing a hungry blue. One, broader than the rest, snaps the last crust of ice from its limbs and fixes on the warmth of living blood. The ridge itself seems to shudder with their waking.

Seelah plants her feet, draws back, and hurls a cold-iron hammer in a high arc. The weapon bounces off Fell 3’s ruined hel-capstone and bites only snow-white mist before skidding uselessly among the stones.

Petra’s reply is word and will. She thrusts her staff outward; the rune-scarred vines sleeping beneath the snow leap skyward, twisting into a sudden thicket of living snares. The undead are the only prey they heed Fell 1 and Fell 3 are caught fast, thorned creepers cinching wrists and ankles. The creatures writhe, frozen sinew cracking as the plants drink their stolen warmth. Fell 2 manages to stagger clear of the worst tangles but now wades knee-deep through grasping roots, its pace halved. With a brutish roar, Fell 1 tears a vine loose and stumbles free, but the mire still drags its movements.

Kaelith pivots a careful five paces back, arrow of frost-veined ice-wood already nocked. The shaft flies toward Fell 3 but glances off a cairn stone with a dull, frozen clack, scattering white chips into the gloom.

Snow swirls, vines creak, and the trapped dead snarl within their living cages.

Úlfr sizes up the scene choosing the least encumbered target. He plants his feet and heaves one of the large rocks he stacked with both hands. "Return to your graves and be still, oh dead ones."

Jasir lets out a deeper exhale than normal, before his eyes widen and his hand dips into his belt pouch. One, two... The stones are away, spinning towards Fell 3. The motions are faster than he should have been able to make, not really using advanced training to pick out precise openings. Time just seems to work at a different rate for the Sarcosan.
OOC:
Using Heroic Path Burst of Speed to get a second standard action. Using both standard actions for attacks. If an 18 hits then Fell 3 takes 2 hits for a total of 20 damage from the magic stonees. And a Knowledge (Spirits) check of 17 just for fun.

Varin quickly draws his sling, slipping one of Petra’s enchanted stones into the pouch. With a practiced flick, he whips the sling around and releases, sending the glowing rock hurtling toward the approaching fallin.

The moment the shot leaves his hand, he strides forward through the snow, placing himself squarely between the creature and his companions. His eyes lock onto the fallin, muscles tense, ready to meet its charge head-on and keep it from reaching the others.

Ulfr hefts a head-sized shard of frost-splintered granite from the pile and hurls it like a siege stone. It slams into Fell 2’s chest with a crunch of brittle mail, caving the undead’s ribs and sending chips of blue-black bone skittering across the snow. The creature staggers, frame cracked but unbroken. Azote raises her hands; fresh roots erupt in a twenty-foot ring, answering her druidic call. Entangle sweeps the edge of the battlefield, Fell 1 is snared anew, thorny coils cinching its legs and spine. It thrashes, but the vines tighten, dragging the corpse half to its knees.

Close to her, Jasir invokes his Heroic Path, moving with unnatural quickness. Two fist-sized pebbles ignite with pale sigils and streak forward like sling bullets guided by unseen hands. Both strike Fell 2, bursting in flashes of silver light that sear undead flesh. The maelgral bellows, frozen gore sizzling where the stones struck true.

Reeling, Fell 2 wheels on Varin, the defender's earlier magic-stone strike still smoking on its shoulder, and retaliates with a wild, crushing blow. The undead’s club-like arm connects; Varin’s breath hitches as the numbing impact bruises bone. Snarling, the Fell 3 claws at the vines clutching its calves, but the living cords hold fast; its brute strength finds no purchase.

Snow spirals around stone and sinew; the vines creak with green fury while undead jaws clack in answer.

Seelah draws forth Dawnward. Watcher’s blade shimmering against the dark of midnight. Striding in a northeastern direction, our ebony errelander engages the second Fell. You are smitten today, Seelah exclaims. Lashing out at the second Fell with cold steel!
