Cool,I'll do that once I and the others have decided on our characters
Jul 26, 2025 7:30 am
I see a lot of people having multiple interests in what characters to go.
As far as I can see, I am the only one with an intherest in jaunt?

So let me take that, to avoid overlaps in gate or edit (my other interests).

I am thinking loner.

The idea I am going for is spy type

Erasmus Doyle
Agenda: Sorcerer
Blasphemy: Binding(Hound-Type Sin[Codename: ORION])

- What keeps you going? Why do you continue to fight for CAIN?
Well, his official and technically correct answer is that CAIN maintains a standing execution order on his head, as they do with all Binders. Thus, he will likely remain in CAIN's employ until he dies, for the sake of self-preservation. The latter reasoning, however, is untrue. It is not to preserve himself, but his bound Sin.

- When/how did you manifest your powers? Who got hurt?
Our little Erasmus was, perhaps predictably, a bit of a loser. He was universally, the favored punching bag of his local highschool, with the only highlight of his life not being the cold, disapproving look of his father nor the callous indifference of his mother, but a local stray beagle whom he often saved some of his lunch for every day, waiting for him in an alleyway down by the school's entrance.

Unfortunately, those same bullies found out, and decided to snuff out the one thing in his life that he looked forward to every day. According to local camera records, four hours after the incident, seven minutes after he had left school and entered into the alleyway, a CAT 1 Hound-type Sin incident occurred.

CAIN Exorcists responded half an hour later to find several dozen students dead, only some of whom had slighted Erasmus, and school property visibly defaced with bite and claw marks, most prominently damaged being Erasmus' classroom. The Exorcists also found Erasmus with the Hound-type manifestation, and after reporting back to Castle, gave Erasmus the choice protocol dictated whenever a Form III manifestation was recorded.

After some hesitation, Erasmus accepted.

- What do you regret?
One might think Erasmus regrets some of the deaths and damage, at least. But no. Rather, he regrets that he did not carry it out himself, that he was so weak the burden was transferred upon his beloved friend instead, who was compelled to do his dirty work for him. Perhaps if he had the guts to, Orion would still be alive, rather than in the form it is now.

- What do you hate?
Erasmus resents a lot, and quite unreasonably too. He resents the poor living conditions given out by Castle, he resents having to risk his life, he resents the constant threat of execution above his head...But what he hates is another matter entirely. He despises, with all of his heart, himself. In his eyes, he lives only to selfishly allow this fragmented demon that resembles Orion to live another moment on this earth, cursed and misbegotten as reality turned out to be.

- What do you fear?
Although the investigation case files are sealed to him, privately, Erasmus fears that the Sin manifestation did not come from the death of his friend exactly, but more indirectly....From him. It gnaws at him, the possible weight of so much wanton death and destruction. Was that what he would've wanted? It was Orion's actions...But could he have controlled it? Had he even tried, or had he simply watched, perhaps feeling a spark of unwholesome vindication flare in his heart?

- What hurts?
Whenever he looks into Orion's eyes, seeking any traces of what might have been the only loyal soul to him in this world, he only sees insensate rage and bloodlust, little more. Whenever he does, another small part of his heart crumbles into ash.

Remind me again, how long of a time span can this occupy? Does the book say how long one can go between "they are showing signs of a sin and CAIN should act soon" and "they are becoming an imago/wraith RIGHT NOW"? Basically I'm also wondering if someone can get away with being actively psychic/graceful for a while before becoming an exorcist?

As for the optional Virtues system, I'd certainly be willing to give it a try, although I don't know which ones fit well. Faith would fit well lore-wise, but Null is the precise opposite of what Erasmus might want. Law would suit him the best mechanically, but funnily enough Law dislikes dogs, which Erasmus in turn would also disapprove of.

On that topic I think for a couple of first time players, there's plenty to engage with without the virtue system, but I'm not averse to using it if consensus swings that way.

Anyone who shows signs of having a large amount of grace is snatched up by CAIN asap. You might slip under the radar for a hot second, but you can’t operate publicly without CAIN trying to grab you. Any amount of risk is too much risk for CAIN.

So "when did your powers manifest" either happened fairly recently OR it happened some time ago and the character in question has been an exorcist for a while.

Noted.

My first draft.

Chloe Clemence, X355
Loner Jaunt

- How did you first manifest your powers ?
Five years ago. A sunday in church when I was 13. So boring. Catholic masses. I was bored. I went for a walk. Without leaving my seat that is. I Geisted out of my body.

- What do you hide in the deepest parts of you?
I like the feeling of being someone else. I like taking possession of other people a bit too much.

- Is your hand your hand?
Yes. My hands are quite normal. For now.

- Do you remember the face of your mother?
My mother cried when I was taken by CAIN. She cried for the shame I brought upon the family. I was unclean. Marked.
I still remember mother pressing a crucifix into her palm, praying.

- What keeps you going? Why do you continue to fight for CAIN?
I have been told about the devil and hell all my life. Evil may not win. I am not sure if Sins qualify as the devil. But I can't let them win.

- When/how did you manifest your powers? Who got hurt?
A sunday at hime when I was 16. Mom had called a priest. There was to be an excorsism. A catholic one. I possessed the priest. I am not sure what exactly happened. I hear that he woke up in the hospital 6 months later and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.

- What do you regret?
There was a girl, Anne, in class during my high school years. She was kind to me. I used her as a test subject anyway.

- What do you hate?
When people are kind to me. A gentle touch. Kind words. Helping. I never know if they mean it or not.

- What do you fear?
That the "Sin" inside me is just an excuse. This wasn’t fate. This is who I've always been. Evil, rotten, corrupted.

- What hurts?
The mirror.

None of your characters have been exorcists for long, considering that levelling scales directly off of successful missions, unless there’s some sort of reason that your CAT hasn’t advanced. You may have been under CAIN custody for some other reason before being classified as an exorcist for whatever reason (such as if your powers manifested during childhood), or you may have had your powers without the knowledge of CAIN, or even yourself. After all, a power such as Whisper, for example, could easily be mistaken for an actual mental disorder, whereas something like Edit isn’t necessarily obvious.

One more thing before I get to answering those questions. I thought of a little quirk that my PC could have that may be a minor supernatural phenomenon not directly related to Sins or Blasphemy.

Basically they're a former PMC soldier and at some point before or at the manifestation of their powers, information regarding their service history became blotted out from the flow of time,so any time anyone tries to reference or record relevant information it comes out as audiovisual static,or as [REDACTED] in print, leaving most of their recent history unavailable to the authorities.

But obviously CAIN has a way around this and likely knows anything worth noting.

Do you think that would work?

Sure, for the low low price of 1 sin. I’d consider it some form of minor sin mark, though it wouldn’t mechanically count as one for the purpose of sin overflow.
Jul 26, 2025 5:18 pm
So I'd always have 1 sin out of 10 in the meter? Might be an interesting thing to work with then.

To be clear, the redaction only applies to the time when they were on duty, and not to any current events. Still,I'll take it.

Yes and no, it’s not 1 permanent sin, it’s just 1 sin, same as any other. It’s just that once you have 1 sin, you will never drop below 1, since sin is always halved rounding up. Pretty much everyone is going to be racking up sin something fierce.

Hardline/Smother

- How did you first manifest your powers ?
Was takin' a walk one day, lookin' for something to fill my days since I found myself at the end of my contract. Saw this guy I knew, cryin' and pissin' himself on the roof of a convenience store, sayin' something about how the VA and the whole damn country didn't care about soldiers like him. Ever since we came back from [REDACTED] he'd grown more and more disillusioned about his time with the [REDACTED] Division and that was the last straw, I guess. He put a gun to his head. I tried to stop him. Never been more relieved to see a gun jam in my life. Turns out I made that happen. Well, maybe a few times. But then he realized if he couldn't make a bullet hit him fast, he could still hit the ground fast. Yeah...didn't stick around for the cleanup.

- What do you hide in the deepest parts of you?
Love! Love for this stinkin' world and all the filthy animals on it! But...who deserves to be loved by a monster?

- Is your hand your hand?
Unless old Sawbones sewed on the wrong hand when an IED took mine off back in [REDACTED], I'm sure.

- Do you remember the face of your mother?
That bitch? Nah, I don't. No one who does what she did to their kids is worth remembering.

- What keeps you going? Why do you continue to fight for CAIN?
Well, it's that or the firing squad, right? Besides, it's a job I'm more suited for than waiting tables or writing letters.

- When/how did you manifest your powers? Who got hurt?
Like I told ya, I tried to save an old buddy. No one got hurt except him. He's lucky. He's not hurtin' no more.

- What do you regret?
The whole damn business. I knew what I was getting into the moment I signed up. Knew what I'd be doing to people who didn't deserve it. Didn't even have the excuse of "serving my country" or I'd have enlisted. But hey, it was a living and I got to shoot some real big guns, right?

- What do you hate?
When people are cruel to each other. Cold. In the petty ways. Not everyone gets to call in a strafing run that turns as many as [REDACTED] people into a red paste. Everyone gets to look away from the homeless and the sick.

- What do you fear?
One day I'll kill again. And I won't feel a damn thing.

- What hurts?
Lots of places. The scars. I go to sleep in pain and I wake up in pain. I better, else I might forget.

Feel free to submit character sheets already, I kinda forget how this website’s sheets system works but I’ll figure it out lol
Jul 26, 2025 11:11 pm
I've submitted Erasmus. As mentioned, he's a Sorcerer/Bind, mostly relying on his Sin for combat. He's decent at tracking with it as well, for a bit of added utility.

I have a flight back home this evening and ill see if I cant get my character all made by tonight. I am a-ok with making a character based on what is left so that others don't have to go out of their way to accommodate my stated preferences in the mean time.

There we go,I've locked in Bonham as my character choice I guess. Submitted the character sheet.
