There is a secret world, for those with the eyes to see it.
The vast majority of humanity blindly swims in a potent psychic melange that suffuses us like a roiling sea of emotion and memory. All humans naturally produce this field, though some are more sensitive to it than others. They may see ‘auras’, read emotions, or see supernatural phenomena: ghosts, apparitions, or echoes of things that are not there.
However, for a select few, their connection to this shadow presence goes deeper. It darkens, coalesces, and twists into something tangible and powerful. These powers feed on the deep psyche, emotion, and mental state of humans, the sunless and subconscious torrent that flows beneath the surface of human thought.
Occasionally, through the course of tragedy, trauma, stress, or extreme circumstances, this psychic field can go wild. Ballooning like a cancerous growth, it escapes the confines of the human body, and manifests as malevolent presence, something that warps and controls
reality around it, and begins to feed on the flesh and minds of others. Invisible to the psychically dull, these beings can either exist separately to a human or possess them, warping them into a monster.
Collectively these beings are called Sins. Their continued existence, once they are birthed, will continue to twist and degrade the people and even physical location of an area, creating a pocket dimension called a palace, and growing until they reach a catastrophic apotheosis known as a Sin Event. These typically result in mass psychic veil rupture, an event that is instantly traumatic and fatal to humans in a broad area.
You are a tool, a weapon of the the highly secretive and supra-governmental organization CAIN in an official capacity of an exorcist. You have grace, the ability to perceive sins and manifest powerful and highly honed psychic techniques called blasphemies.
You have a single purpose in this world: to hunt down all sins and execute them with extreme prejudice.

I'm looking for a handful of players interested in playing CAIN, an investigative roleplaying game by Tom Bloom where you take on the role of exorcists chasing down supernatural psychic monsters and confronting them, usually via extreme and decisive violence.
As an exorcist, CAIN has decided that your usefulness in hunting sins outweighs the risk of keeping you alive, and so they have offered you employment until such a time as you are either slaughtered painfully by horrors beyond human comprehension, or your risk of becoming a sin yourself becomes too great and you are granted a merciful execution.
Basically, it's an investigative monster of the week TTRPG with the vibe of supernatural battle shonen anime like Chainsaw Man or Jujutsu Kaisen. You are the tool of a massive organization fighting something that cannot be defeated, to be used and thrown away when you are finished.
This is a system using a d6 dice pool narrative resolution mechanic, similar to games like Blades in the Dark, where your goal is to roll 4+ on as many dice as possible to score hits. The game is highly narrative and player-driven, with things like combat and the overall investigating being very loosely structured and the rest almost entirely unstructured.
Characters are built from agendas and blasphemies. Agendas are essentially character archetypes that grant certain abilities and provide goals to achieve in order to gain xp and level up. Blasphemies are the specific type of psychic powers your exorcist wields, and range from manipulating time and space to lying to god.
As for trigger warnings, this is essentially a game about tracking down and violently killing supernatural manifestations of extreme human trauma, while playing members of an extremely traumatized psychic hit squad, so it's... probably gonna get pretty bad. Before we begin, we're going to discuss any lines or veils we might have, but in general this game is going to delve into some pretty grim stuff.
Without further ado, if you're interested in WIPING OUT THE STAIN, gimme a holler below!
