Hmmm. I thought it was more like a reference to the tone from a movie. We weren't supposed/required to be samurai. I specifically asked in the interest post. I am more a generic fantasy character. Not samurai, cowboy or anything like that.

If we are to be a more traditional historical character, I totally missed that part and I go back to 1 on character design and idea.

Will a samurai/eastern feel for a character fit in more? Probably but it isn't mandated

So, go on Google, put in English to Katakana translate, translate your character's name and boom, you're there. :-)

I will be calling all non-japanese coded characters Gaijin/Ryoka because it is funny to me.

I included the Japanese characters for my name just for those like you. It's basically the symbol Google translate uses for "eddy."

I just used a generator to come up with a name.
Went with Ryojin cause I liked the mean.

Is there any good anime suggestions to watch to get in the right mind for the campaign.
Was thinking Bleach or Full Metal Alchemist.

Can always watch a Kurosawa movie (or a John Ford western). My favorite was probably Kagamusha though Seven Samurai and Rashomon are the ones most recommended. There used to be a theatre in Oakland that had samurai flicks as the midnight movie the year I was there.

On the other hand, tried showing one to a class when I was starting out and despite all the anime fans, they were lost.

Theres a 25 episode live action series on Prime Video I am on 15, its really interesting.

I did slip slightly. Will edit to better reflect what you actually know, but essentially these people are clearly Oni aligned. The man talking does not look anything but human. The big guys are just that...big. If they were Goliaths they would be like the Shaquille O'Neil of Goliaths. It would be a safe assumption they are super natural in a way.
