Giving the chamber a once-over, he returns his attention to the triage. "If you can move, we'll need to go," says Aanbo. "We're either checking out that snake statue, or we're getting out of here."

With Theran and Morton applying life-saving techniques, Aanbo watches lest he get in their way. "Keep your armor on," he says should Arya rouse. "Well, not that you're able to take it off by yourself, but still."

"Pretty sure this is it," says Aanbo, "unless we missed something. Given all the bones and bodies, it really doesn't feel like these tunnels go anywhere else."

"I agree with Aanbo," Ember says. " I think that we have exhausted our options down here."

"So we ignore these two subterrain passage ways that are right in front of us which may go to a lower level and perhaps a passage way to this temple you speak of? Which is why we came here in the first place?"

As Arya gasps and wheezes, trying to breathe shallowly with miraculously-mended-but-still-bruised lungs, Morton dramatically moves to one of the side passages that dead-ends in a dirt wall. "So we ignore these two subterrain passage ways..." Realizing that it is genuinely a dirt wall, he moves to other as he continues talking. "...that are right in front of us which may go to a lower level and perhaps a passage way to this temple you speak of?" He reaches out and touches the wall here, but this one is not dirt...rather it is canvas stretched across the passageway and cleverly painted to look like dirt. With a flourish, Morton pulls the stretched canvas aside, revealing a small room containing three chests. "Which is why we came here...in the first place...?" he says, trailing off. He had clearly been expecting stairs or a slope downward.

Chase listening to the convo speaks up"I think we should finish looking around down here. We are here and should leave no stone unturned." Looking as Morton pulls the canvas back"Wow, that was some pretty good camo. We could have missed others."

Ember shrugs and moves forward to examine the chests.

Aanbo chuckles. "Well done!" he says. "You've seen what we could not. Perhaps more of the same can be found in the other tunnels? When we've finished here, lend us your elven eyes once more, okay?"
The monk steps into the spot vacated by Morton at Arya's side. "Rest a bit. We'll be right here with you," he says quietly to the cleric.

Ember has to duck a little to worm her way into the space, as the ceiling is much lower here. She examines the chests closely for traps or locks.
What were the chests for?
"Thank you, I - I'm fine." Arya dips her head graciously to the rock-hewn dwarf. She is grateful, both to the party for saving her life, and for the armor that hides all the unsightly bruising that must be marring her flawless olive skin.
Looking around further, Theran notices small pellets that he now realizes are compressed bones and fur in snake scat, evidence that the python had also been feeding on rats.

"That's two snakes now," Theran observes, seemingly unconcerned about the chests.

"Wonder who hid these here. Probably related to the temple?" as he steps aside for others to investigate them.

Aanbo looks to Myrtha and Theran. "You found some coins from that one cultist, yes?" he says, thinking back to the treasure confiscated from the torturer. "If I remember during our initial interrogation of the two lads, they were surprised by it, thinking that everything was given to this goddess. Could be that cultist wasn't the only one stashing something on the side."
While he waits for the chests to be inspected, the monk questions rhetorically, "But how would they bring it down here, what with the snakes and those undead creatures? Do you think they have some kind of control over them?" Still in meditative contemplation, he adds, "Or were these here from before the cultists took over? How would we know?"

Lyrel joins Ember in the small room. Here is a rope. Tie it around the chests and the boys can pull them out in the open
Lyrel returns with the other end of the rope.
Oi Chase. Make yourself usefull and pull when Ember gives the ok

"This all needs some explaining," the warrior replied, moving to help Chase pull the chests their way. "Next time we come across any of them cultists, we’ll try to get some answers out of’em."

"Hopefully these chest will tell a story." as he awaits for them to be brought out and opened.

"Mostly coins, clothing, and trinkets, likely stolen from victims," Ember reports.

Ember takes the end of Lyrel's rope and ties a loop that she wraps around a chest. In so doing, she finds that these chests have handles on either side for easier carrying by one or two people. She threads the rope through the handles to reduce the likelihood that the rope would slip, ties a confident knot (the sort that she knows would carry her weight and the weight of all her gear), and steps back, straightening up.
Myrtha cocks an eyebrow at Lyrel at the "boys" remark as she spits on her hands and takes a hold of the rope. Despite his sarcasm, Chase pulls as heartily on the rope as Myrtha. This first chest - the one on the right - moves so easily that it falls over and they drag it out on its face. Myrtha and Chase grin at each other; either one of them could have easily pulled that weight on their own.
Nothing else obvious happens.
Untying the rope, Ember hunches back into the smaller space and ties the rope around the chest that had been in the middle. When she gives the all clear signal, Chase and Myrtha begin to pull. They find that this one is heavier, and does not fall over. But with the two of them pulling, it slides out fairly easily.
Nothing else obvious happens.
Arya tries to be helpful and attempts to untie the rope, but after a moment, when it becomes clear that it's going to take a while, Ember bats her delicate-but-strong hands away and unties her knot herself. She crawls back into the smaller space and ties the rope around the third chest, the one that had been on the left. Myrtha and Chase haul on the rope, and this time it takes real effort from both of them to move it. The chest gouges a shallow furrow in the packed dirt as it comes. The ranger's and the warrior's hands are hard and callused, but they still burn a little from the weight of pulling on the rope. It definitely would have been easier to lift the chest rather than drag it, but there is the concern for traps.
Nothing else obvious happens.

After the first of the ordeal is done as the chest are out of the cramped space, Morton says to Ember, "Nice rope work." as it appears he has been watching on. He is fairly sure; he has no real experience with rope like that and fathoms where she learned such.
