Salvia says, "Shall we go to speak to this Seth Tyka, then?" She turns to her bodyguard and speaks in a quieter voice, asking, "Faring well, Ser Arne?" The taciturn man-at-arms allows a hint of a smile and replies, "I fare well, Lady Evensong. Thank you." Salvia nods, satisfied, and says, "Excellent! For we may be about to embark on an adventure! Perhaps some hijinks may ensue as well."

"It seems there is nothing more to learn here. Let us move swiftly," Winter says, ready to depart.
Jul 17, 2025 9:13 pm
"Seth Tyka, yes!" Hermann agrees, wondering on the person they were aiming to meet. He prided himself on his extensive knowledge of people about the city, and the connections that pinned them all together. But this name…

He hadn’t come across it just yet. That was enough to have him heading out the door to chase them down.

OOC:
Anyone who has been in the city for a decent length of time and has ties to the criminal underworld will know of the Guilded Lily, premier house of ill-repute and likely location of any thieves capable of pulling off the Goverbandy heist. Anyone with occult knowledge will know of the Star and Crescent, however it is only open after sundown. You can also ask around for an alchemist to analyze the oily substance you've found. Let me know who wants to go where.
Jul 20, 2025 4:20 pm
Headed out, Salvia turns to the others and says, "Arne and I shall head to the Star and Crescent to inquire about possible buyers of the artifacts. I suggest someone speak to an alchemist, or I shall do so after the S and C." Then she nods to Arne and departs, Arne nodding in reply and falling in behind her.
Jul 20, 2025 8:58 pm
"Wait a moment!" Hermann insists, as he takes off after Salvia.

How had she come to learn of that place?…

Though it should surprise him, he supposed. Salvia knew only a little less than Hermann it seemed!

"I had just been planning a visit there myself! Safety in numbers, no?"
Jul 20, 2025 9:15 pm
She turns and looks at Hermann, somewhat surprised and bit annoyed. She glances at Arne who subtly nods. Them her demeanor changes. She smiles and says, "Of course! Numbers and all that. Before becoming a practitioner of the arcane, I was a bit of an occultist as well. Both pastimes brought me in contact with the Star and Crescent. And how is it that you come to know of it?"
Jul 21, 2025 9:01 pm
"We are of a similar background then." Hermann reveals, as he had spent time studying the occult. His own reasons for study such things differed greatly from this mage, he could only imagine.

"They shall be most surprised to see two of their clientele arriving together. Three, if your man has also studied the Ways."
Jul 21, 2025 10:17 pm
Sylvie nods to Hermann and replies, "It's always a pleasure to make the acquaintance of a student of the occult or a practitioner of the arcane! Or both! But, uh, I'm gathering you are in a rather different line of work currently. Am I right?"

When Hermann references Arne, Sylvie laughs. "Oh, Arne? Oh no! Nothing magical about him. he's just been serving my family for, well, it seems like forever! Certainly since before my time, at least. But no, he does not practice the arcane. So, shall we?" She gestures toward the S&C.

"I wouldn't know the first thing of what to ask an alchemist if I found one," Kade says with a smile. "I guess I'll check the Guilded Lily. I'm no stranger to that clientel. Half my platoon was convicts choosing between jail and the front line."

"I will go with you," Winter says to Kade. "There is safety in numbers."

1.5 HOURS HAVE ELAPSED

THE GUILDED LILY
An infamous den of iniquity, the Gilded Lily is operated out of the old Casten House, a mansion that covers an entire city block. Cards, dicing, roulette, and more happen on the main floor, which also boasts four bars. One wing of the house hosts dancing, vaudeville acts, and the
like, while the other houses spectacle sports such as bear baiting, pit fighting, and brawling. Day or night, the Gilded Lily does a brisk business. The Lily attracts the usual lowlifes found in this city: pirates, sailors of dodgy disposition, thieves, killers, and worse. Along with them, one finds merchant dandies eager to gamble the coins in their bulging purses. About a hundred people work at the Lily, thirty of whom are guards.

Approaching the sprawling mansion of ill-repute, a pair of human guards approach you before you can reach the front double-doors. The taller one speaks. "Well met. The owner was expecting you and has extended an invitation to meet with him. If you accept we will escort you to him."

THE STAR AND CRESCENT
It takes some searching to locate the Star and Crescent. You find the place at the end of a narrow alley formed by two tenements, the tops of which lean against each other. The alley reeks; scraps of paper, bones, parrot guano, and other detritus cover the muddy track. The Star and Crescent has a single door on which someone has painted a horizontal crescent with a five-pointed star above it. There is a sign that hangs from the door reading: OPEN AFTER SUNSET. It is currently half past noon.
Jul 23, 2025 12:36 pm
Salvia stops short before the sign. Arne, as usual, is in perfect synchrony with Salvia and stops by her side. Salvia huffs, "Well that is damned inconvenient!"

She turns to Hermann and says, "Well! We shall have to return at sunset. Until then, fancy a visit to an alchemist?"
Jul 23, 2025 4:02 pm
"Just a moment." Hermann says, bidding the mage to wait. He raises a gloved hand to the door and hammers on it impatiently.

"They’ll be expecting someone like us, if rumors of this heist have spread. We are no regular customer today!" he says, awaiting an answer that would surely come before long.
Jul 24, 2025 9:27 am
Winter is wary of this wretched hive of scum and villainy, especially when the guard says they are expected. "I don't like this," she says softly to Kade. Still, she is willing to have the guards escort her to the owner.
Jul 24, 2025 1:13 pm
Kade shrugs. "Apparently words travel faster than feet," he says. He nods to the guards to lead the way.

THE GUILDED LILY
You are escorted up a flight of stairs and into a windowed office overlooking the main gambling hall. A clearly inhuman male sits in a leather chair inside his office. He has two heads, each atop a different long, serpentine neck. Small blue flames burn over his heads. He has long, black talons at the end of his fingers. He wears a fine, tailored suit in charcoal gray. When he speaks, he does so from both mouths, one speaking one word, the other speaking the next.

"Welcome to the Guilded Lily. Please have a seat."

He points with a taloned hand to two tan leather chairs facing him.

"What have you come to ask me about the robbery?"

THE STAR AND CRESCENT
There is silence for a handful of minutes before the door slowly opens up. On the other side is a youthful woman with long brown hair and brown eyes dressed in a nightgown with a robe thrown over it. She also looks very unhappy.

"If someone is not dead or dying I will curse both of you before you can say 'no, wait, please, don't'!"
Jul 27, 2025 8:07 pm
"A most unwise course of action, I assu…" Hermann starts, about to break into his usual manner of speaking when meeting with uppity persons of interest!

He sighs, and then turns to Salvia. He takes a breath, and then starts again:

"My companion here would like to speak to you about something of grave… commercial importance."
Jul 27, 2025 11:59 pm
Salvia smirks and looks at Hermann. heh, so he at least is aware of his manner! Good, good... she thinks to herself, as she looks briefly at Hermann, before turning to the woman with a warm smile. She says, "Good day to you madam! I'm Salvia Evensong, occultist and wizard, and this is my associate Hermann Drakner. We are here to inquire about several items of arcane significance that may have been offered for sale here very recently--items stolen from our employer. Several are of notable power and value. And that's not to mention the alteration or earth magics used in the theft! So I would request we be admitted, so that we might make our inquires, and reward you in a way you find most fitting, be that coin, favor, or magic."

Kade eyes widen in surprise at the sight of their inhuman host. He recovers quickly and goes to sit in one of the chairs. "Well, you seem well informed," Kade finally says. "You are correct in that we're investigating the robbery. Can't be many fences who deal with the kind of items stolen. So we thought to speak to one of them? Or possibly just see if one of your clientel suddenly was flush with coins with no explanation."
