OOC:
Can we find the Broken Boat ourselves, fairly easily? If not, then ...sure.
Dahlia eyes the woman and then says, "yeah, fine. but, eh, don't get any funny ideas about double crossing us, you got me?
Jul 26, 2025 11:56 am
OOC:
you don't want to try out Opening the Mask again?
The scrawny woman grins. "No worries, honey. You don't look like my kind of people to mess with." She turns and gestures to follow. "This way. Do you tip?"
Jul 26, 2025 9:16 pm
Dalia nods and gestures for her to go first. Once the woman turns away, her eyes flash once again, as she attempts to cast the spell a second time.

It's not quite so easy this time, for whatever reason, but again, a stranger's thoughts and knowledge flood Dahlia's mind. She wonders for an instant whether there might be any kind of side effect to such an excess of knowing.

The woman is well-intentioned and helpful, despite her sketchy appearance. Dahlia remembers the woman playing with a puppy by the docks. The puppy peed on her foot and she splashed her feet off the edge of the dock to wash off the urine.
Jul 27, 2025 12:07 am
Dahlia smiles and turns to her friends. She nods and says, "This one's a good egg. I seen her at the docks playin with a puppy." She steps beside the lady leading them and says, "Hey thanks for helping us. We owe ya, so lemme know if there's anything we can do for ya, ok?"
Jul 27, 2025 11:34 am
Myrven will follow in a state of mild confusion and trust. He thinks to himself "where we gettin a tip for this lady from?"
Jul 30, 2025 6:29 pm
You get to the Broken Boat no problem, and the scrawny lady opens the door for you. It looks pretty battered. So does the building as a whole; chipped pale bricks and a green tile roof with broken tiles. There's a blank boat-shaped space above the door where you might have expected to see a sign.

Going in, you see the place is moderately populated by people drinking and eating. The scrawny woman follows you in and taps Dahlia's arm; then, nods her head toward a group of three people nearby. "Them are eastern wizards, there," she says, and looks expectantly at Dahlia.
Jul 30, 2025 9:52 pm
Dahlia nods and smiles to the woman and fishes out one of her two remaining silver pieces and gives it to the woman. And she adds, "If this pays off, I’ll have more for you."

She approaches the people and says, "Pardon me, friends. I was hoping to have a moment of your time. I hear you are wizards from the east. And you might be interested in what I have to share."
Jul 31, 2025 4:27 pm
The three people look up at Dahlia with expressions of wary interest.

One is a man of about sixty years, balding, impressively mustached in grey. His eyes are a piercing bright blue color.

Another is a woman of equal age, her grey hair is very neatly braided into a coiled bun atop her head. She wears a silver diadem.

The third is a young man, slender and dark in all respects. His eyes are large and round, with green irises, reminding Dahlia of a frog.

"Of course we're interested," the young man lisps. "Sit down with us, and your companions, too. Pull up chairs."
Jul 31, 2025 4:43 pm
Dahlia nods to her friends and sits. She says, "I have come into the possession of a large supply of something rare and valuable that I’m told eastern wizards in particular find useful. Are you in a position to make a large and expensive purchase?"

Assuming the agree, she lowers her voice and says, "It’s magical pigments. Martoi pigments ."

Myrven will take a seat, letting Dalia take the lead. Instead he will take the opportunity to look the three figures over. Trying to spot any hidden weapons.

"What makes you sure these are what you say?" asks the woman with the grey braided hair bun. The little pendant on her silver diadem dangles from her forehead as she leans forward, elbows on the table. She rests her round chin on her fist as she studies Dahlia. "What will make us sure that these are what you say?"

Dahlia leans forward and says, "We mined them ourselves from within the permanent darkness, in a mind known to produce them. it was guarded by a monster, but we know the secret to charming it. As for proof, we can allow you to see a sample. We have crates full of the stuff."

OOC:
Did any of you previously say that you were getting a pouch of the stuff? If not, I'll let one of you roll +Erudite v DS 8 for the ret-conned presence of mind to do so.

Did Dahlia think of that?

OOC:
I think Dwatto is supposed to be carrying a crate with us at least.
Aug 4, 2025 7:16 pm
OOC:
Ok, I guess. Up to you how to instruct Dwatto.
Aug 4, 2025 9:46 pm
Dahlia says, "I can show you but it doesn’t seem safe to do right here. Does this place have a private room?"

She gestures to Myrven and whispers, "Have Dwatto bring the crate in…"
Aug 6, 2025 12:02 am
Myrven will give a short nod and organise the crate being brought in.
Aug 6, 2025 12:43 pm
Dwatto moves awkwardly among the tables to you, sets the crate down with a thunk onto the eastern wizards' table, lifts the lid. The faint fluoresence of the Martoi pigment lights the wizards' faces.

"Yeah," breathes the young one, "that's the stuff." He looks to the older two wizards. "We need to confer," he says. But then he says nothing else. Instead, he and the other wizards close their eyes. Their faces relax, go blank. It's as if they're in trance.
