Jotna and Elma attack the objects hidden in the darkness of the basement pits. Elma more so with a calculated hunch than anything else. But the use of the bomb pays off just the same. Jotna's acid eats away at the ring until it crumbles. The tendrils dissipate.

At that time, Borda who just nearly managed to dodge the wolf's attack strikes along with Merkari who is likely still flailing about. A hit slices at the foe's skin and again it bleeds. It howls in pain, now feeling the full extent of the attacks. None of its protective barriers are left standing to diminish the damage.

Just as you experienced before in the library, the whole place goes dark like a reverse flash of lightning. And when the light returns the wolf is no longer there. On the ground you see a spiked collar like one a dog would wear, encrusted with dark green gems as spikes. It looks both menacing and valuable.

You look around you and the entrance hall has also changed. It doesn't even look like an entrance hall anymore. It's just a large cave room with moss covered walls on either side. A faint light shines down through a crack above you. The only thing that still looks the same as before is the heavy wooden door with intricate pattern. The door to the game room has been replaced by a curtain of tree roots.

It appears you've managed to defeat whatever dark magic was at play here. Just the sound of water dripping can be heard.

What do you want to do?

Borda glances around at the others, "Anybody dying?"

Still Lin lizard form, Jotna moves around the cellar or whatever space she is in, exploring it for anything there. if she finds nothing, she ascends and checks the curtain of roots. Is there a space beyond? If nothing else is to be found, she transforms back into her human form and puts what remains of her clothing back on.

Elma looks down at the shards of her trusty shield and now notices a large hole in her armor, right where her heart would be. A ghastly reminder of how dangerous that wolf was. She touches her neck where she was bit and the blood is clotting now at least. Both fresh and dried blood come off on her hand. She tears off a bit of her skirt and ties it around her neck. It ends up looking like a poor copy of an ascot slowly turning red and brown from the wound.

"Not yet, u-unfortunately."

She looks at the collar and shakes her head. No teeth to pull now. Maybe they could break it apart and get themselves a real room.

She brings the oil lamp closer to Jotna to help them see down the stairs and by the roots as well. This whole place was just an illusion. She wonders how much of Malista's appearance was an illusion as well.

There is indeed space behind the curtain of roots. The place that used to be the game room, just like the entrance, has become a featureless cave. The 'doorways' to the other rooms are still in the same location. Even though no doors are there to hold anything in, the zombies you met earlier are not flooding into this room.

Disclaimer: If you have a phobia of spiders, don't read the next part! If so, let me know and I'll change it.
Jotna spots a strange hole in one of the walls about the size of a football. Inside are black whisps that resemble the black swirls you saw in the fight. Could it be another artifact? She reaches in and the darkness spreads, climbing up along her arm. You have found A hopeless amount of spiders. Before you fully realize it, they are crawling up to your shoulder.

Elma checks out the entrance hall for any other interesting tidbits. Under a rock you find something spiral-shaped. Thinking it could be valuable, you pick it up but it crumbles to dust in your hands.
Each of you hear Malista's voice call out to you. "Well done, warriors. Come back to me."

(I assume these are not friendly spiders!)

Jotna begins to panic but then remembers something... She raises her arms and opens her palms and fire blooms from them in a ball on front of her, consuming the spiders!
OOC:
If you'll allow it, I'd like to use her Power, Palms Open the Southern Gate (A ball of fire hits d2 creatures dealing d8 damage per creature) and attack the swarm of spiders? I assume 2 damage would kill each spider?

They're not really hostile, just lots of them.

I'm honestly not sure you still have power slots left. (You get presence+1d4 every morning) and I believe for that one you'd have to roll a presence test first as mentioned here.
But since we're basically at the end, I'm fine with ignoring all of that :D Though you will also hit yourself. Which I assume is not an issue.
The cave lights up with the fiery light of a fireball as Jotna screams frantically. When the fire dies, the spiders are gone. Jotna is left with some burns on her hands and face but nothing all too serious.

OOC:
cool. I’d never used that power. Thanks! And if they were not hostile, could she instead take them and just wear a spider shirt?

OOC:
if you want to do that, you'll have to say how you entice the spiders to remain on your person. Then I'll have you roll for it ;)

JJotna's body is always slowly regenerating... Maybe the spiders stay and consume her, but at a rate slower than her healing? So, rather than regenerating d4 a round, she regenerates d4-1? Or, perhaps, she already knows how to share her flesh with the spirit of an animal creature. Why not share it with the colony as well?

OOC:
I believe you only have this regeneration when you're in lizard form. But it sounds pretty cool. d4-1 works :D
I'll remove my previous text of the fireball, go ahead and narrate what happens instead.

Jotna's scaly skin patches, as well as the scaly hole in the side of her head from the arrow that slew her, are constantly flaking scales and dry, dead skin. The areas itch constantly, as tiny mite burrow there in what was once dead flesh. The spiders flow up her arm en masse and swarm at these spots, perhaps satisfied to eat the mites, or the flaking skin. So now, whether she be a lizard or a human, she has a mass of writing, pulsating spiders on the side of her head and down one arm. It causes her some discomfort, but every time she transforms, the scaly skin is renewed, giving the spiders enough to feed on for a day.

Elma looks around for anything else to take before they find out what is going on with Malista. She sees a rock slightly off-kilter and moves it, finding a spiral-shaped...something. Elma picks it up, perhaps too eagerly, and it crumbles away into dust between her fingers. She furrows her brow in frustration, but decides to gather up the dust left behind into that valuable looking scroll she still can't read and plops it into her coin purse.

She hears a commotion by the vines and races towards them, scooping up the bejeweled canine collar and hanging it on her free arm like a bracelet. That's when she sees Jotna's predicament and an uncontrollable shiver runs along her spine.

"A-are you going to be k-keeping them, Jotna?"

She edges a little back and towards the hall that used to lead to the library, lighting it up with her oil lamp to see if there is anything else of value in the room or down the way.
