As you know, Boudica would rather not slaughter a whole tribe of goblins but jeez these guys are annoying

WanderOne says:
About how many Goblin does Barns count in the immediate area? He is considering 2d8 worth of them in a sleep spell.
There are maybe a couple of dozen actual spear-wielding goblins around you. The tribe itself is bigger than that, maybe up to eighty in total, but the rest essentially don't pose a threat to you (probably still wise not to turn your back on the females/young goblins though)

If the Tomb was indeed Halav's, then his followers who were buried with him surely had some items worth recovering. You would have to make a choice, however: Are you willing to fight the goblins for them? because even the most well-meaning chieftain (if he was one), only has tenuous control over his tribe, and is in no position to convince them to hand them over to you.

Me, I don’t want to slaughter a tribe that includes children for the possibility that we might, what, find some archaeological objects?

Like, look. I get that in most classic fantasy settings, things like orcs and goblins are simplistically evil and you are just supposed to slaughter them. Well I don’t want to play that way. Especially not when they are presented as having a village with elderly, women, children, etc. So if that is a requirement of playing in this setting, I’ll pass. Because, No, neither Boudica nor I will slaughter children.

If you agree, can you please confirm that we are on the same page, @Delirium ? Thanks. If we’re not, then I will be stepping away from this game.

It's entirely up to you to decide what to do. There is no critical plot item here, except more 'treasure'.

I don't require or plan for you to use violence against the goblins ( in fact, many of the quests have a built-in non-violent alternative to resolve. Even the hags weren't immediately hostile, though there was no question about them being irredeemably evil.)

OK cool. Thanks.

I'm assuming you are heading straight to Specularum, right?

Works for me.

Ready to move to the next scene, very curious about the situation here!

Site is NOT telling me I have posts. I just now found out days later.

@WhtKnt, and everyone else - I assumed you didn't show up fordinner armed and armored, which would have been so out of place as to causse the Lord a grave offense. Nonetheless, let me know if you did bring your bow and are now aiming it at the Lord, and I will add his appropriate reaction to it.

Boudica would not come with armor or traditional weapons, but I think she would bring her special staff, because she will never part with that under any circumstances. I think by now she has tried to use it as her holy symbol as well. even if she hasn't, she's about to!

You're right. I will post an amendment to my action.

Barns has no armor on. He would surrender his dagger & handaxe easily. He would prefer to place a peace knot on his longsword rather than surrendering it.

I enjoy the mysteries but I think I'd like if they didn't pile up until we have resolved at least one of them!

I am only speaking for myself and not the other players, but I am terrible at mysteries -- really bad. So I know I could use a bit more railroading and clear direction on where to go and what to do to solve these things. Apologies.

No worries!

One of you could try a relevant skill check, or talk with the servants once the Lord is asleep, as they might be more open to answering your questions (you've seen at dinner that Lord Bowell possesses supernatural hearing, which would explain why everyone were so hesitant to speak). Specifically, Boudica has access to the 'speak with animals' spell, which could be very useful. Rats are everywhere, after all. Or she could talk with Bowell's hound. Or one of the stray cats in the castle....
