@WanderOne Just want to check in with you. Your posts with Barns are hostile to the rest of the party; is that Barns' frustration or yours?

That is Barns reaction. Me. Just roleplaying. But what the party just did was good enough to have us all thrown in a cell that has no light.

OK good.

Honestly, her reaction is very much in character for her, but also it is a function of my frustration. As I mentioned above in conversation with our GM, I am getting tired of mysteries. I was kind of hoping for a more traditional dungeon or hex crawling B/X adventure from this game. My character is not equipped, either in terms of her backstory or in terms of the game mechanics, to be an investigator, and this is like the third time we are faced with a mystery that can't be solved through direct action.

So yeah, Boudica is likely going to attack these mysteries head on, basically like a strong-willed, zealous paladin (or cleric in this case). I hope the GM accommodates such play. If not, or if it become disruptive to others, I'll step away.

I didn't see where she even considered the rest of the party. Just assumed the rest of the party will jump on the band wagon. That wasn't party action, that was solo action.

GM was nice enough not bring on the consequences appropriate. Guards should have been called. Weapon action alone would bring that. Instead, he let us off with you leave now so play could go on.

Did you miss the part where Boudica's staff caused the evil presence to retreat? Why do you think I did that? it was a calculated risk, designed either to draw out the evil presence to reveal itself, or for it to retreat. It worked as intended.

So how about you stop with the criticism? Give me a break...

Nah, forget it.

This game clearly isn't for me.

Have a good game, everyone.

Sorry to see you go, @Drgwen. If you ever change your mind, you're always welcome to return.

I would be happy for some constructive feedback; I didn't mean this particular event to be much of a mystery, more like a build up in suspense. Would you prefer I drop more clues in general, and have things more obvious - now, as well as in the future? We can also skip the roleplaying in these cases to jump directly into the more 'interesting', sword swashing bits, if that's what everyone prefers.

I’m always up for sword swashing! :)

I'm good with either. Miyana is no investigator, though, so don't expect a lot of deep thinking on her part. She is a woman of action and very much into personal freedoms. We were using AD&D alignments, she would be chaotic good.

I'll speed things along then, and make it a bit less complicated!

You’re doing fine, I appreciate it!

There are a couple of ways to end the effects:

The remove curse spell – Just be aware that this won’t work on true lycanthropes.
The wish spell – The only way to cure a true lycanthrope of their affliction.

Belladonna or wolvesbane?

Curing a lycanthrope would require you to make a concoction out of wolfsbane, which would only work as long as the person hasn't undergone their first transformation (Hans, according to the phases of the moon, hasn't yet). You're not a local, so you don't know where wolfsbane can be found around these parts, but the people down at the village surely would.

Your other option is to go back to Threshold (it's only a couple of days away), buy/make some silver weapons, and deal with the problem head-on. Barns, and anyone with an appropriate skill, should know that lycanthropes are highly resistant, if not downright invulnerable, to non-silver weapons.

Barns doesn't have the nearly the wizardry knowledge to deal out a remove curse spell & even using a scroll would be problematic. His 8 gp isn't going to buy a silver weapon. Good time to have friends in higher places. Like a higher level cleric.

We have a group treasure pool, that might buy us some silver weaponry.
Sep 13, 2025 5:07 am
Yes, there is more than enough money in the group's treasure to buy some silver weapons. Where do you want to go from here?
Sep 13, 2025 12:19 pm
Back to Threshold?
Lot of back and forth, maybe that’s just how we have to do it though.

With all the webbing around the lower area, does it look like with not worrying about being could you carefully walk over to acquire the herbs? or it is so tightly web that there isn't easily viable way to just work over and pick the herbs up?
Sep 23, 2025 10:27 am
It would be difficult. You can roll your 'Find or remove treasure traps' with a -5% penalty.

Realizing this isn’t exactly RAW, but - possible for Will to retrain his weapon specialization, from Longsword to two-handed sword? An amount of training to RP for that?
