Agreed with checking out the fire pit room up the stairs. If that doesn't yield an alternative entrance, I'd vote for exploring the above ground town more fully in the hopes of finding a more secure entrance so we don't have to pay any more "fees". But willing to go wherever the rest of the party wants to go.
Thrud has a great idea for a goup name, the "Thrud Friends"!
Zach, stillmajorley depressed at losing out of his entire third decade, will do whatever the party wants. Same with name, although "The Doomed" has a nice ring to it in his mind.
@Burbage, I forgot to ask, do you play with age adjustments to ability scores?
I was traveling all last week, I thought I had posted that I would be missing but I apparently did not. Apologies, am back home now and can keep up on posting.

I liked early-on, when Grim was able to help with the ghost. Realizing that aged some characters, but I felt like Grim was able to keep things from getting too bad for us.
Great question, testlum. Gotta say that the confrontation with Dalton, and the absolutley crazy turn of events that followed was quite something too. And the encounter with the ghost/spectre before our first ascension : such a teachable moment about what old-school dungeon-delving is like...
Mine was the Dalton encounter as well. Those moments where the situation gets a little out of hand and a couple good rolls saves the day in an unexpected way are what I play for.
Zach doesn't like being old. That being said, the specter encounter was the most intense, but I would like to go back down the stairs and feed some dead raiders to that beast :D
I dropped the game threads into NotebookLM. Here's a video of its rather candid assessment of your progress so far. There are a few obvious errors, particularly around the timeline (it obviously doesn't understand the Archontean calendar!), but it's an entertaining summary.
Really enjoying our game so far. The exploration and mapping aspect really has me feeling the old school vibe!
Edit - I’m reminded, I had Dungeon Geomorphs (graph paper) as a kid. I think I might’ve bought it from RPGA through the mail lol.

I will be pretty spotty over the next 3–4 weeks given the holidays. I will post when I can, but @Burbage, please feel absolutely free to take control of Zach if necessary to move the adventure forward. Zach will semi-despondently do whatever the party wants. He only feels alive now when he's in combat. Or perhaps when drinking with his buddy Thrudmarr. 😝
Sorry ya'll, hit a busy week at work and just plain lost track of time between posts! I'm hopefully in a better spot, gonna make sure I check back more often.
