I’ve just picked up the Basic Roleplay Game System book and that’s given me even more ideas.
The new edition or the original? BRP is a good system for a wide range of games. BRP Star Trek is on my list to run at some point...

I am working on a BRP Star Trek conversion myself! With some FASA skill list inspiration.

That sounds awesome. Maybe we should compare notes sometime!

Yeah. Love Star Trek!

The new edition. I didn’t have the old one, but my understanding is this is mostly a compilation of the old one and the errata and zines they put out. And streamlined.

It’s pretty cool though. Just trying to get a feel for it’s tone and what it does differently than anyone else. Definitely looking forward to running something with it.

I would run and play the following:

Running the game ? Cy_Borg (don't have the core rulebook just yet, but I'm VERY interested in this system), Shadowdark, and Vaults of Vaarn.

Playing? Those 3 but I’ll play almost anything

I'm very fond of the original Star Wars RPG (though I like the dice mechanics of Edge of the Empire/Age of Rebellion/Force and Destiny, too); it just plays really, really well, and I'm interested to try to see how well it would work in PbP.

I'm interested in trying to facilitate a game of Fiasco (one of my favorite one-shot games), though it requires a lot of RP and patience from players on PbP.

I think both Gamma World (1st or 2nd edition) and Paranoia (1st or 2nd edition) would be fun to run; Paranoia is nice because it is generally clearly bounded. You can't really do a campaign of Paranoia unless you have people running a sequential series of clone families...which doesn't really interest me, as it feels like squeezing a square peg into a round hole.

I've toyed with the idea of running The Taint here on GP; the difficulty here is in not knowing the players very well outside of the forums, and so not having a good sense of what powers would be particularly satisfying/enjoyable. I'd probably use random tables, though that likely isn't as fun.

I also started adapting the classic diceless 80s RPG, Space Seekers (yes, the source of my username), to diced play here on GP. I'd love to do that, though it might take a lot of explaining for everybody.

Right now, though, I'm trying to take it slow and not over-commit to running a bunch of games at once. But it is tempting when I'm in so many games that aren't posting as fast as I would like. My temptation is to think: "Nothing's happening right now, so I should run another game. Or maybe, since I can't decide on just one, I'll run TWO MORE GAMES!"

So far I'm reminding myself to be patient, and these lulls happen naturally, and that impatience will come back to bite me HARD if I give in to it. Therefore, I'm not going to start another game just yet...but that is the list I'm considering for when I do.

I have found it works really well in PBP as you can narrate your action after you have seen your roll. The GM just have to be upfront with the difficulty dices

@spaceseeker19 would love to try Fiasco on here...

Probably something like Arkham Horror or Gloomhaven since those are my go-to games for longer sessions, but I’d also love to run some smaller card games just for quick fun. I usually check crackrelease.com to see if stuff is working before I even try to set things up—it’s handy since it only tracks the status and doesn’t deal with downloads or anything shady.

I'm launching a Barbarians of Lemuria game. Three players have applied and made characters; I'd like two more. We will start the play on Monday.

Not sure this is intended to be for recruiting, rather a discussion.

One of the game ideas I've been toying with has been an Ultraviolet Grasslands game. Very different from my usual pace.

That's a very interesting type of game for a group of people in the right frame of mind. It's much more "Oregon Trail with occasional combat" rather than "Dungeons and Dragons with occasional r&r".

Ultraviolet Grasslands is a really interesting one and is near the top of my to-try pile for exactly the reason you mention!

I'm far from ready to run a game here yet; I'd like to join a few as a player first.

That said, I have a few ideas for supers games that I'd probably run using either Icons or Worlds in Peril; a concept for a sort of "Mark Waid's Empire meets the French Resistance" game where the world has been conquered by a Doctor Doom-like supervillain and the players are normal people fighting a guerilla war against his regime (system undecided -- ORE, possibly?); and mmmaybe something with Scum & Villainy, Triangle Agency or World Wide Wrestling at some point.

RL is crushing the life out of me right now - so this is a bit of a pipedream at the moment. Still, it's nice to give voice to the stuff rattling around in my head.

Masks the New Generation - it's been a little while since I last played it. At the time, I felt like I'd probably seen most of the possible permutations, but I find myself jonesing to play again anyway.

Sentinel Comics - I ran a game of this for my tabletop crew, it was one of the best received campaigns I've run with the group. I feel like the game doesn't get enough air time, it's super fun.

Mutants & Masterminds 4e - I was a big fan of M&M during 2e, but 3e fell a little flat for me. Now that the playtest stuff is out for 4e, I kinda want to put my hands on it and see if I can get the magic back.

Necessary Evil - I've been meaning to get off my butt and read Savage Worlds for a while. This might be at the bottom of my list, but it's still there.

edit: To get off of superheroes a bit, there are a couple of games that my tabletop crew has roundly rejected but that tempt me all the same:

Legacy Life Among the Ruins 2e: Post Apocalyptic Nation Building
Shattered City: Crystal-Punk Fantasy Centered on an Occupied City -- one of the players is the Occupying Force.
Rhapsody of Blood: Definitely-not-Castlevania
Wicked Ones: Be Monsters, build a dungeon, recruit minions, and menace the countryside.

Each of these games has the players assuming control of not just a character but a faction. Legacy and Rhapsody of Blood have long stretches of downtime which helps them play generational stories -- not really something seen often in RPG's, but an element of some of my favorite stories growing up.

That's not really necessary, is it? (Seriously, those all sound great to me.)

I haven't read mine cover-to-cover yet, but what I've checked out so far doesn't seem like a massive departure from 3e.

Honestly, mostly what I wanted was tweaking to the skill list/costs. I don't expect to actually get it, but a body can hope.

I have two projects I'd like to run: a horror campaign set in modern New Orleans using GURPS, and I would love to run some adventures in my homebrew setting, which I am slowly developing on paper. The former may happen sooner than the latter. The latter is a Pathfinder 1e setting with a lot of customization and optional rules in use (like Wound/Vitality Points). Actually, I also wouldn't mind running my Savage Worlds homebrew fantasy setting, either. That may eventually happen.

I have three ideas I’m considering running here, if there’s any interest. It wouldn’t be for a while, if I got around to it (I’m already running one game and playing in two others) though.

1) Vaesen: Domesday. Set just after the 11th C Norman Conquest of England, using a bastardised version of Vaesen (Free League, Year Zero game), with different skills etc. I’ve been running this off and on for several years for my FTF group, as an episodic game (each scenario we’ve covered in 1-3 sessions, with whoever’s been around that week), and we’ve had a blast. I teach Medieval History at university, and several of my players over the years have also been Medievalist PhDs, but we’ve also had teens and scientists playing in the group, so foreknowledge of medieval society isn’t required. Think a medieval X Files.

2) Weird Kilodungeon. Not quite a megadungeon, but pretty big. Some weirdness, but not completely gonzo. Emphasis on exploration, discovering the history of a forgotten / unknown place, conversations with and quests from peculiar entities, fighting strange creatures, and boss fights. System-wise, either Daggerheart (with some houserules, such as human-only, maybe), or a bastardised version of Forbidden Lands (Free League Year Zero game). Think metroidvania / Hollow Knight.

3) Trad-ish Megadungeon. Some sci-fantasy elements, small to medium megadungeon, emphasis on exploration, discovering what’s going on, and faction interaction as well as the usual combat, traps, etc. System, either Daggerheart, custom-built PbtA, or some trad OSR game. Think old school megadungeon that isn’t just killing and looting everything.
