Damn, that is crazy. We have knocked the crap out of this damn zombie. Was hoping it would be down the door comes crashing in. hahaha

I don't remember if we technically had a short rest before we began our overnight stay in the farmhouse. If we did, would Amnestria be able to utilize her Arcane Recovery feature and recover a 1st-level spell slot?
Jun 19, 2026 8:44 pm
Well, dang it. I was hoping for at least 4 or 5 rounds of survival for Berthold. Didn't expect a natural 1 on the first try!
Jun 20, 2026 5:51 am
Yeah, that was unfortunate. If Berthold has inspiration, I’d definitely reroll that death save. Cause his chances of surviving the next three rounds are pretty low.
Jun 20, 2026 8:54 am
I second that. We should all have one inspiration each.

Not having a full rest is brutal 😫

I am really torn here between moving away and giving an opportunity of attack to cast ‘Spare the dying’, or disengaging and waiting a turn hoping for the best.
With only 3 HP taking a hit will put Antonius out.

@Mathfuric - are you inviting discussion from the group, or are you just observing that it's a tough choice?

I am expressing my dilemma, but always open to discussion when I am.

If Sora has movement left this round you should disengage and move. This seems like a fight we can't win at the moment. If you can get to the loft I can try and draw them off so our captives can join you. Then I can double back and join y'all. Hopefully.

Sheesh, we should see if these zombies can come with us to Orlane. These guys are super tanks.
Jun 24, 2026 3:50 pm
Yeah, the number of crits I've been rolling for Undead Fortitude is ridiculously unlucky.

Sacrilege! Antonius would cry, as for me that would be super cool having an army of super tank Zombies 😁

Heh, a lot of times, my character's goals often change due to in-game events. Aanbo was supposed to be just a regular martial arts monk, but after witnessing all the suffering I changed to focus on mercy and the struggle between who lives and who dies.

I was intending to pursue the school of Abjuration or Enchantment, but maybe Amnestria becomes a necromancer, instead?

@rpgventurer maybe it is best to disengage and shut the door, one of us grab Sora and drag her inside.

One of us can hold the door shut and filter the Zombies in through the other door.

My mind's eye blinks an awful lot, and I was wondering if per chance that perhaps Morton witness the fall of Sora to the undead? And if so, did the undead leave her drop body yet or has Morton seen which way it went? Just getting notion on what Morton will do next. Thinking ahead Morton is about say 70' from the house, how far is he from the barn where Sora is trying to avoid her demise?

Ah. For this game what is the procedure to use Morton's Healer's Kit that he has 8 uses left on it? I can't recall if some dice rolling is needed as well to use it besides an action.

@Mathfuric Good thinking.

Let’s hold the line for one more attack from Kazzak, then I will disengage followed by you.

No point in losing the advantage give by CancerMan’s Owl, and if we are lucky we may even get one 🤞🏻

No. One of the great pleasures (and, sometimes, frustrations) of TTRPG play is that the encounters are full of surprises, and don't go as expected. I didn't think that this encounter would last anywhere near this long, and so I decided not to draw a map. Why have a map when the encounter would be over so soon?

But of course it hasn't worked out that way, with the zombies both a) getting up close with the heroes despite their much slower movement, and b) making TEN Undead Fortitude saves so far. So here's a quick sketch, to give a rough idea of the layout:

https://i.imgur.com/Oy8aQeO.png
The orange rectangle is the farmhouse. The red one is the barn. The grey circle is the well. The green rectangle is the garden, and the blue rectangle represents the fields of crops going to seed. At this moment, Antonius, Grallaria, and Kazzak are to the right of the house, in between it and the fields. Morton is about 70' (28 paces) directly east of them. Berthold and Amnestria are on the second floor of the farmhouse, not visible to anyone conscious outside. Sora is on the ground south of the barn, at the moment blocked from view from all but Amnestria (if she were to look out the second-story bedroom window in that direction). Dell is in the middle of the barn, currently in a stall and not visible to anyone except the two prisoners in the stall with him (and even that dimly because the only Light is coming into the barn from a spell on a coin that is next to the wagon). The green wavy line represents the edge of the Dim Forest that surrounds the farm.
WanderOne says:

Let's say Morton is 115' (or 46 paces) away from the closest corner of the barn, and 125' (or 50 paces) from Sora's body, but the farmhouse is currently blocking his view of her fall.
WanderOne says:

For stabilization, there isn't an alternative rule, and the healer's kit works just as it does in unmodified 5e: you expend a use to stabilize an adjacent dying creature instead of rolling a Medicine check.

I will go out the back and try to draw them with me away from the captives and Sora. Hoping someone can get to Sora or I can lead them away and come back for her.
Being that only few know of Sora situation that it would be great if others heard a shout about her problems and might come to help her. Undead probably wouldn't care about hearing such and ignore it. Being this that there is no one else to come to aid her really right now due to the fact none really know of her situation.
Jun 28, 2026 5:26 pm
If I'm correct, Morton now has a clear few of the house & the barn areas with that current movement. Guessing he is about 70' actually from Sora now, but I don't know if Morton with all that going on takes note of her dropped body near the barn. I gave you a generic perception if it is needed.
