Character creation
IF you are committed to gaining a level in the same class your PC has currently, then you can use this thread and gain HP (and increased attack modifier, if applicable) for the new level. You do not get any of the other features of the new level until you train.
If you want to advance in the same level, either:
a) post that your PC is taking the "average" HP (plus CON mod) in this thread,
or
b) roll a hit die for the HP gain in this thread, then add your PC's CON mod.
If you choose for your PC to gain a level in a class they don't already have (ie, multiclass), you'll need to wait to be trained to gain HP.
Looking at the chart of PC experience points, I'll point out that Arya, Chase, Ember, Morton, and Myrtha all have this choice to make now.
Rolls
Arya HP gain (plus CON mod) - (1d8+2)
(7) + 2 = 9
He so much needs some teleporting magic. :)
Rolls
hit points - (1d10+1)
(2) + 1 = 3
But I have lost track of how much coin we got and the price of levelup.
Rolls
3rd level hit points increase - (1d10+2)
(10) + 2 = 12
But I have lost track of how much coin we got and the price of levelup.
training to gain levels – DMG 131
When you earn enough XP to gain a level, your HP and attack modifiers go up immediately if you are gaining a level in the same class. But any other gain of new abilities - or gaining a level in a new class - requires that you spend some time with a trainer in the class to learn the new abilities. This almost always requires returning to town.
Note: in this game, all of the trainers that the party has found (so far) charge for training. Training involves working with a trainer and costs 15GPx(target level) and a number of days equal to the target level. So training to level 2 will cost a character 30 gold eagles and two days, level 3 would cost 45 gold eagles and take three days, etc.
Rolls
Hit Point roll - (1d8)
(3) = 3
edit: sucks
Rolls
rolling hp - (1d6+3)
(1) + 3 = 4
