We do have room for one more, who could join at any time.

Smiles Already in a different one of yours.

I would be interested. I am an absolute beginner though, and the fact that this game has been going for ten years is a bit intimidating.

As much as I dislike 5e, I love that module and have never experienced it as a player. Let me know if KidEnnui does not work out or if you still need another.

The party has returned to Orlane in the dead of night with a better idea of what's happening: something is corrupting the residents and turning them bad, troglodytes are involved, there are secret tunnels to explore and a conspiracy to uncover/stop. The recent crimes have been blamed on the heroes as outsiders, so they are proceeding with caution and stealth, unsure who to trust outside of a few residents that have provided material support and information (and wary of several they KNOW have gone bad). The corrupted residents are working for "HER," which probably refers to the local priestess in the Temple of Merikka.

We have an opening for another 1st-level adventurer. This could be a traveler who is coming in blind, a new Dungeon Buster sent to support the others, or a relative/former resident of Orlane returning home to find everything changed, their family and neighbors horribly changed. Or something else; I'm open to your ideas. Interested?

spaceseeker19 is a greate GM and I would be interested in playing a Wizard, turning bladesinger, if that subclass is allowed. If it is I would properly play a hauty high-elf, but who did the right things. A hero in deeds, but doshbag in words.

@runekyndig - Great; I've sent an invitation. Start with the "Character Creation" thread.

"Missed by that much!"

If another spot pops up I’d be interested :)

Good luck to the group.

Same here. If you're ever in need of a male Wood Elf Ranger/Hunter Outlander. Or a male Halfling Ghostwise Rogue/Thief Urchin. Message me!

I don't have a dmg so I don't know anything that's in it. But I can build a ch and learn as I go. I have a phb. So I'm good.

@Mathfuric @wulfnor @Blackdragon0 - you're on the list. I'll follow up with you.

And, Blackdragon0, you're right - while I've welcomed people using all kinds of additional materials since this game started, from Unearthed Arcana playtest articles to the Wild Against the Witchlight hardcover book - you can certainly play with just the 5e PHB.

Really, all a player needs is the free Basic 5e rules, which are available online. Since we started the game so early, I'm most used to the 2014 Basic Rules, but I understand they did a revision in 2018. I wouldn't go with whatever they have on D&D Beyond now; for one thing, it's all online instead of a PDF you can download and read offline. For another thing, it's often hard to tell the difference on D&D Beyond between the 5e rules and the 5.5 rules ("D&D 2024"), and 5.5 is a different ruleset. Nobody needs that confusion.

We have two openings for additional players in this game. We are playing through the classic AD&D module "N1 Against the Cult of the Reptile God," set in a version of Greyhawk using D&D 5e with a collection of official optional rules from the 2014 PHB and DMG to more closely resemble AD&D.

If you join, you'd be making a first-level PC that we would insert into the story somewhere: either you're wandering into town at night, unaware of everything that's going on; you've just escaped from some people who were trying to abduct you; the party will find your PC captive in the next place they visit; or some other method of inserting yourself into the party that you imagine.

Here's a brief synopsis of where we are:
- many of the party are members of the 'Dungeon Busters' guild of adventurers, which is establishing a local guild hall in the town of Hochoch.
- currently the party is in the village of Orlane, an agricultural hub for the region which is two days away from Hochoch. Many people in the village seem to have joined a cult that is working with monsters (troglodytes) to disappear citizens. Some of the abducted citizens return changed, and others have never returned. The town is rife with paranoia, which the local constabulary and priesthood has used to demonize the adventurers, blaming them (since they are outsiders) on the disappearances. At least one of the PCs has been abducted in the night. Other PCs have disappeared, but it's not clear what happened to them (their players left the game).
- the party just snuck into an inn where they narrowly avoided capture on their first visit, and discovered that the basement has been used as a place to dispose of inconvenient dead bodies (using ghouls to eat the evidence). After defeating the undead and the cultists there, the PCs have left this mass grave and are currently sneaking through town at night, on their way to investigate the local temple to Merikka, the agriculture goddess.

As one of the players in this campaign, I just want to say that SpaceSeeker does a fabulous job as DM. His game is very immersive and moves along at a good pace. You could do a lot worse than to join us. This message is completely unsolicited, and I approve it.

You still have a lvl 3 PC in party while newcomers are lvl 1, right? There should be a reason everyone seems to be fine with that, I guess you combat isn't what I'm used to in classic modules (deadly even for proper lvl characters).
Story sounds fantastic and I would like to (if feasable) join with a PC who is not from the guild and don't even count himsel an adventurer (a typical situation with L1 adventurer in my books). wandering into town at night would be reasonable for a wood elf druid. While not motivated to save village he would be very interested to investigate the local temple to Merikka, the agriculture goddess and to oppose those who emply undead. If that would that give him enough reason to stick with the party?

It's a first-level AD&D adventure. PCs are leveling faster than they would in AD&D because the thresholds for gaining levels are lower in 5e than in AD&D, but even if we were playing AD&D, a L1 PC might advance to L2 in the course of this adventure (depending on class and/or how much XP they already had when they started).

Anyone concerned with the deadliness of combat should probably read the threads to see if it suits their tastes; there are a lot more tactical combat options in the 5e ruleset, so combat is more mechanically complicated than in AD&D, and characters who are down and dying can be saved, if the other party members act fast enough.

As for everybody seeming to be fine with level disparity, I've always imagined that levels are meta-game concepts rather than something that identifies people in the game world (level titles notwithstanding). So no one knows that a Brother is more advanced than a Rogue or a Veteran, unless they've been around (like in the party) to observe that the Brother has had more training sessions. Certainly no character is swaggering around saying "I'm a level X cleric!" In short, there's nothing there for the characters to be fine with; if anything, they're happy to have some more experienced adventurers guarding their backs.

Players come up with the motivations for their characters; for some, this has meant joining the guild before appearing on the scene. Others (but not all) have agreed to join the guild after adventuring with the party for a while.

I am interested in joining this adventure. My character would be a cousin of one of the missing, living in a nearby village and in Orlane to investigate what happened to him or her.

I would like to let rpgventurer take the spot. Wait list will do good for me. Besides I'm afraid of the first impression I left vocalizing my opinion.
P.S. Not "I'm a level X cleric", but I "a druid who already larned to wildshape" or "a ranger already learned ways of using nature magic" seems rather proper to me. But I know what you mean.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll follow up with you first the next time there's an opening.

That works well. I'm sending you an invitation.
