The scenario takes place on Sunday, June 21st, 1931 in Providence, Rhode Island in Ma Shanks’ Boarding House. The boarding house is a three-story building, positioned at the edge of Federal Hill, near to the Italian neighborhood.

Prohibition is still in force, with the sale of alcohol illegal. The effects of the Depression are kicking in and everyone is hard pressed trying to make ends meet

Looking specifically for players new to Call of Cthulhu as this will be a learning experience.

Hey there, I am interested in the game and also new to Call of Cthuluhu. I have the rulebook of the 7th Edition lying around here somewhere, if that is of importance.

Wonderful! You won't need any books, I'll explain any rules you need. For this scenario, I'll give you pregens that you can add your own name and character to. We'll get everyone in first, but these one shots usually fill within a few days at most. Meanwhile, if you use discord, feel free to join my personal community. Knifesedge Games Discord

Sure PBP. I tend to not take repeat players on these one shots, as the idea is to introduce newcomers to the game, so I'll put you on the bench.

Hi - I'm interested too! I've played a couple of CoC one-shots in person, but am keen to get some more game experience as I want to start running some games too!

Hi, I’m new to PBP and am very interested to try this beginners game. I have played a couple of CoC one shots a few years ago but don’t remember the rules that well.

Out of curiosity - are all adventures for CoC (or this 7th edition) take place in the past? I'm interested in trying a new system, but period play is really not my thing.

Not all, but most are set in the past: the base game is set in the 1920s (because that's when Lovecraft set his stories), Pulp Cthulhu is the 1930s and Cthulhu By Gaslight is 1890s London. But you can play Call of Cthulhu in a modern-day setting as well and there are some great scenarios published for modern-era.

Funny how many people say that but when they try it, they love it. Either way, as Chickane pointed out, there are many time periods possible for CoC. I prefers 20's/30's but I have run a campaign set in the mid 70's which was pretty fun, but there's plenty out there for modern day.
